BBC
(The UK's equivalent to the US & Canada's
CNN) reported that Mariah had shipped
5 million albums in the UK as of March
2000.
BPI certifications are based on the amount of records shipped to stores minus returns, meaning if there are many copies of an album on the shelves at retail and there is no demand for them, they will be shipped back to the record label and will not be counted in the certification.
- Gold = 100,000 shipped to retailers and record clubs
- Platinum = 300,000 shipped to retailers and record clubs
