Brazilian Fans Celebrate 1st Year of Barretos
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 26-Aug-2011, 2:25AM EDT
Last year, on August 21st, Mariah performed before an adoring and roaring sold out audience at the Festa Do Peão de Boiadeiros in Barretos, São Paulo, Brazil. That magical night of Mariah live on stage has left the Brazilian fans mesmerized, it was a special moment that they will never forget.

Last Sunday, August 21st, Brazilian fans in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro gathered in two separate parties to commemorate the first anniversary of Mariah's Barretos concert.

SÃO PAULO
The party, largely organized by Leonardo Matthew, was held in the ballroom of the condominium where Leonardo resides. Rafael writes, "It was great fun! The party had all the excitement and joy of the lambs for this day is so special. There were some games and prizes like a wall clock with a picture of Mariah, Glitter DVD and CD Single 'My All'."

Rafael fondly remembers the Barretos show in a video (see below) he created for the occasion. "My greatest dream is to show Mariah how much we, Brazilian lambs, loved it."

RIO DE JANEIRO
Anna Beatriz and her fellow Mariah fans from Rio de Janeiro had their anniversary party at Norte Shopping last Sunday. She tells us, "It was a pity it was raining and cold; but we had a lot of fun!"

The video below shows some highlights from the Rio de Janeiro party; and clips from their 15-hour trip from Rio to Barretos last year just to see Mariah.

When the last drop of champagne has been sipped, and the last of a fond memory has been shared, it was time to call it a night... but one thing was for sure, they unanimously declared, "We love you, Mariah! Come back to Brazil!"

FAN REVIEWS
Vinicius (MDJ Correspondent) - "It was really, really hard to enter the arena. After hours we finally entered and everybody was crazy waiting for the show to start. When the 'Butterfly' intro started I knew that it was the best day of my life!! Mariah entered the stage with a princess black dress and a HUGE smile on face. She seemed really happy to be there. Her voice is incredible live and that's why I love this woman!! One of the highlights of the show was 'I Still Believe.' She said she was surprised by our choice in internet cause she didn't sing this song for years. And was amazing, PERFECT! And 'Hero' when we put a lot of white baloons in the air. She is funny!! I wish everybody could understand what she was saying. She made a lot of jokes when got lost on 'Always Be My Baby' and 'Dreamlover,' talked about how the moon was beautiful and how much she loves Brazil. Also apologized to lambs that were in front of the hotel that day for not meeting them. Thanked us a lot and said the audience was incredible. During the show, Mariah got lots of gifts from the audience, always sending kisses and reading signs. I was in heaven! It was really hard for me to keep MDJ updated but I did my best. Mariah made me and a lot of Brazilians happy, reaaaaally happy!! Thank you Mariah!! We love you more and we're always waiting for another visit."

Luiz (MDJ Correspondent) - "One night only in Brazil for the one and only Mariah Carey! I flew 1,770 miles from my hometown, Florianopolis right to Barretos to live one of the best nights of my life. Despite the delay, the whole concert was worth every while I spent waiting in the line. 50,000 people can't lie: Mariah Carey is absurdly loved in Brazil and now she's completely sure of that. I felt this in her eyes when the lambs from the VIP area blew the ballons and raised them up as she sang 'Hero.' She didn't expect that. I got chills! And still have whenever I remember this episode. Mariah was amazingly graceful, talked to her fans in the end of every song, read the signs fans made, etc. As for her voice: Oh, My GOD! That golden instrument she was given by GOD was at its TOP! Highs and lows perfectly reached. And she's cute even when she missed the lyrics for 'Dreamlover' (my personal anthem). This is the second time I attend to her concert. The last one was at Oi Fashion Rocks but she performed only three songs and now, with this full concert on my "Mariah's-things-to-do task list" I am fullfilled. For all the fans who could make their dreams come true by travelling to Barretos to attend this concert: you are definately blessed. This was history. And I (on behalf of each and every Brazilian fan) want to thank Mariah so much for this great gift she gave us: herself, her voice and this concert."

Reinaldo Araujo - "I won tickets in the contest from MariahCarey.com. I went to the show and I met several lambs. The lambs of Mariah are the best. I made friends with people from Rio de Janeiro and other states. I found lambs from Argentina and Chile. It was a perfect evening, the audience was impeccable. Mariah made everyone emotional, made the arena shake. Mariah's show was without doubt the best international spectacle of all times in Brazil."

Victor Ferraz - "SURREAL, that's how I describe last Saturday night! Lucky as never before-but totally deserved lol-I WON a pair of tickets for the concert from her official website. I spent weeks deciding how I was going to get there, and all that stuff, and I ended up traveling with my family for 5 hours by car! Barretos is a small city but the place was HUGE and the beautiful arena was just a small part of it! I was impressed by the whole thing - the stage, the lights, the place and last but absolutely not least, by Mariah herself! Andre Pacheco attended the show with me and we waited for long 5 hours inside the arena, until MC finally came on stage! We saw the rodeo and just after midnight, the rest of the fans could get into there, then the fireworks to warm up the audience (you can see my video here), it was so exciting! Mariah arrived late and after 1 hour backstage, she came on and the crowd got crazy! She was very festive, talkative and seemed to be really excited and inspired, singing with passion the whole evening! Most people there couldn't understand a word she was saying, but I was over the 'beautiful moon' listening to her talking to us, and pronouncing BRASIL like we do! lol While Trey sang 'Rock With You,' Andre and I moved to the other side of the crowd, as the real fans were there and we were around bleak people in the audience, who weren't very festive! 'I Want To Know What Love Is' was even louder than 'Hero' in the crowd. I was totally hoarse after the end. I had a blast and I'd do that all over again if she decides to come back! Meeting the lambs was also incredible and I couldn't believe we were living that very unique moment! As it wasn't enough, she retweeted the comment I left on her picture! OMG! She sounded and looked amazing, with Daydream flavour, and I'll never ever forget that experience!"

Frederico Cezar - "After 13 hours of waiting and then one more hour in a huge confusion, the gates opened and there I was on the VIP floor. Mariah started with 'Daydream Interlude,' While she was singing 'Shake It Off' she asked the crowd, 'How you doin'?' in Portuguese, 'Como vai?' It was so nice. Her voice was SO AMAZING. I saw lots of fans crying during 'I Still Believe' but I didn't cause I was too shocked. The whole concert was great though I was expecting more, because the singers and the band also rehearsed 'Don't Forget About Us' and 'Honey.' I LOVE MC! 'Take me wherever you want me to go... Whatever.'"

Ana Paula - "Words cannot express what true fans feel when they see their idol right in front of them. I had a tough day too and almost couldn't make it to the show, but thank God Mariah was late and I got there in the second the butterfly intro started. When she came out, all the problems disappeared and it was like we were all daydreaming in this fantasy kingdom. I couldn't believe it. I cried the entire concert. First when everybody was singing along the 'Butterfly' intro, then when everybody was jumping to the 'Daydream' interlude beats, then when everybody started clapping and screaming her name in a type of choir that made her ask someone on stage to record that moment for her. Then she announced 'I Still Believe' and no one could believe she really did it for the fans. But the best moments were at the end when 'Hero' got the whole VIP section with white balloons in hands and 'I Want to Know What Love Is' receiving a shining neon sticks rain. It was AMAZING! The crowd sang every line of every song along with her. She was so comfortable and funny and her vocals were so clear. It was a moment for us. An unforgettable moment. She was really feeling her fans and that made everything perfect. Even though you kept repeating it, Mariah, I have to disagree with you. It wasn't just a dream. It wasn't just a fantasy. It was one of the greatest real experiences for any Brazilian lamb who waited 20 long years for this moment. Now we're addicted to it and counting the days for the next hit of your love."

Thiago - "Her voice was spectacular. It's certainly an issue between we lambs during the after-show meetings. We are still amazed by how she performed well in every sense. There was a moon there in the middle of the stage, making the night even more beautiful for her to sing. She just killed everything, EVERY LITTLE THING. As 'Hero' was playing we lambs took out some white ballons JUST for the 'Hero' performance. When she start singing it, we just took off from our pockets and raised them higher and higher while she was singing. I still can't believe in everything I saw."

Johnny Sesta - "The concert was amazing, I cry in all songs. Mariah's a legend!"

Rafael Silva Paulo - "Mariah was amazing, for many years not to see so relaxed on stage. Her voice was incredible, and realize its great excitement. Everyone sang loudly all the songs. 'I Still Believe' was too much, all very thrilled, this was the big surprise of the show. In 'Hero' raised white balloons giving the audience a great effect. Mariah was thrilled to see the great love that the fans have Brasileitos for it. 'I Want To Know What Love Is' was very emotional, everyone sang very loudly. Mariah rocked!"

Camila - "We arrived at Barretos Arena around 7pm, and we could see a lot of fans walking around, having fun together. They were amazed, because they were able to listen to the sound check earlier that day. The arena was huge. Outside the arena, enterprises that were supporting the event prepared special clubs and bars for people to 'warm up.' We had both VIP tickets (for the main arena) as we had the Brahma tickets for the part surrounding the stage. As I'm a short one and as the stage was too distant from the crowd at the Arena, we decided to remain at Brahma area. We could see the stage clearly, but of course those who would stand in front of the stage would eventually get to see MC even closer. Before finally entering the Arena, we could see MC's backing vocals entering the stage. They stopped by the fans and took pictures, as well as the dancers. They were pretty nice to everyone. One of the dancers took a pic with me using his camera, so I hope he sends me the pic whenever possible! lol. As we entered the arena, we could notice most people were there because of MC and not because of the rodeo, lol. While the rodeo thing was happening, MC's dancers jumped on the stage to have some fun, while warming up and taking pics of the rodeo. In fact, the rodeo took a long time to come to an end. By the end, fireworks literally painted the sky in many different colors. It was beautiful to see it. As Mariah entered the stage, the arena was packed. Totally packed. I'm used to seeing a lot of events happening inside soccer stadiums here in Brazil as I got to see Beyonce's last February, but I must say, the Barretos Arena was packed! Mariah was really sweet to the audience. After her 3rd song she said 'thank you for the gifts you left at the hotel!' (I was amazed, of course, lol) and during the concert, she interacted to people a lot. She said she was 'feeling like a princess,' she also read a girl's sign (Karina) - it read she wanted MC to know that she existed and MC told her 'Hey, I know that you exist, you are in front of me and you are beautiful!' During 'Always Be My Baby,' she praised the fans that were outside the Hotel by saying 'this is the song I heard you lambs singing outside the hotel! Can I say lambs? Nowadays we never know what we can say... so yes, You Are My Lambs!' Highlights of the concert: 'I Still Believe' (TY so much for that!), 'Hero,' 'We Belong Together,' 'I'll Be There' and MC praising the 'beautiful moon tonight on this beautiful sky.' Trey's version of Rock W/ You was also great! The 'lambs' prepared MC 2 special surprises, one during the song 'Hero' and one during 'I Want To Know What Love Is.' During 'Hero,' the lambs were holding white balloons and as the song finished, they just let the ballons fill the sky. As for 'I Want To Know What Love Is,' they threw neon lights to the air, and it was just amazing to see. I will certainly never forget this concert, neither the week I was able to experience. Im not saying this as a fan, but as a person that was able to receive MC's attention and felt the dignity which she treats her fans. Thank You so much, Mariah! Thanks for receiving our gifts inside the Hotel as well. If I could I'd do it all over again. Few people know, but Im a fan since I was 10 and her songs helped me go through my heart surgery when I was 14. Hope you come back soon for a nice concert in the City! Barretos was far for everyone! I'm sure as she comes back to the city of Sao Paulo, for a concert at Credicard Hall Arena or at Rio more people will come by to appreciate her talent."

Sergio Lage - "My name is Sergio, I'm 21 years old and I live in Guaruja City. I traveled eight hours to see Mariah, who traveled on the bus had fans all over the country, we queued for over three hours, we pass heat, cold. Before the show, took the police to let us enter the stage, but in the end everything went well, I'll never forget that day. I realized a dream, Mariah looked like an angel on stage, I would go back in time to be able to live that moment again. I hope she enjoyed the Brazil and come back every year, the Brazil stopped to see Mariah... Mariah is perfect, Brazilians love it!"

Guilherme Cabral - "I'm Guilherme from Rio. The show was sooooo fantastic, Mariah's voice was taking over the arena and making people cry all the time (myself included). I really hope that Mariah can come back soon! Brazil loves her very much!"

Luhkaz - "The show was amazing, when I got in the arena, I saw my dream coming true and it was a big emotion... I cried a lot. And when Mariah said that she heard us singing 'Always Be My Baby' for her in front of the hotel, I remembered my 15 hours in front of the hotel on the first day, plus 5 hours on the second day in front of the hotel, plus 8 hours on a bus going to Barretos, plus 15 hours in line... were the best things that I did for Mariah and I'd do it again and again." [Check Luhkaz' adventure to see Mariah here]

André Pacheco - "I spent 20 hours inside a bus but I managed to get there nice and very excited to finally see her on stage. Fans from USA maybe don't understand how the concert was important to us. The three times she came here before, she performed only on TV or in private events. But last time was different: it was a full concert, live. My heart pumped harder as each second went through. Each moment Mariah's music served me as soundtrack popped in my head. There was no way I could hold the anticipation and emotion. When 'Butterfly Intro/Daydream Interlude' started to play, I felt that a dream was coming true. Fans were ecstatic. It was our night, an hour and half of her singing to us, of her talking to us... She was ours. Our Mariah Carey saying the name of our country and emotional for being here. I was touched by the new arrangements for some songs. Mariah didn't face it as some other performance, but as a special moment side to side to fans so needy of her presence. 'My All' was one of the top moments for me. In 'Always Be My Baby,' she kidded with us, but 'I Still Believe,' which was very successful here and is played in the radio until today, almost brought me to tears. The last part was the most remarkable. I don't like 'Hero,' but seeing Mariah singing it live and from a few meters moved me. I remembered how tired I was, with no sleep and with my legs hurting. I was there for her, and somehow, she was there for me and those hysterical fans. I cried for the first time. I cried as well because it was the end... it was getting over. However, when she came back to the stage and sang 'I Want To Know What Love Is' was even more magical. Her version is superb and since it was released I listen to it nearly everyday. Everybody was her choir, thrilled with her version live. And know that Brazil was the only country in the world that made that song successful tasted good. It was our song, like she was saying: Brazil, this song is yours. It was a magical night. The best gift I ever received. The achievement of a dream that stood for 10 years. Mariah Carey. Mimi. Emancipated, energized, imperfect. Diva, star, human."

Vitor Henrique - "Mariah was going with that fabulous clothes of a princess, had the perfect voice made me the happiest person in the world at that time did worth every hour in the queue and at the hotel door, I just want agradeseria her for being the so perfect that I love so much.

Rodrigo Filgueiras - "There are no words to describe this show. Mariah was amazing and I am so happy to watch her. My life must return to normal haha because since after the show I just cry cry and cry! Funny that I did not feel that all emotion at Fashion Rocks last year. I guess because it is the first full show I watched. It is a pity that this dream lasts too little. We've been waiting this concert for such a long time and although Barretos was far for everybody, I do feel every fan out there left Barretos within the sensation that they were just able to experience the best moment on their lifes. Mariah finished her concert leaving a taste of "I do want much more of this" to every lamb out there."

Karina Tomaz - "I would love to share here the best hours of my life, a story that will always remain in my memory, never to be forgotten. Mariah Carey in Brazil was my best present! Beautiful to see thousands of people with so much happiness in a show, it really was perfect! All this makes my love for Mariah increase, as so many other fans, the love she sings, talks and expresses itself is unique, sincere and true. For me, the most exciting moment of the show was when she read the poster I made for her, saying: 'Mariah, want you to know that I EXIST and I LOVE YOU,' so sweet she replied: 'Of course I know that you exist, you are in front of me and you're beautiful.' A magical moment and happy! After that she sang 'We Belong Together,' threw a rose smiling and looking at me. Mariah is an angel. May God bless her ways forever."

Vivian - "We've waited for so long to see Mariah personaly that on the days before she arrived in Brazil so many of us couldn't even eat or sleep properly! On Thursday, August 19th, finally our dream came true! She arrived at Sao Paulo and stayed at the Fasano Hotel! That was a very exciting moment for all the fans! We started screaming her name, and crying at the same time! So many just couldn't believe that they were really seeing Mariah Carey! She was so beautiful and kind to all the fans! Her performance in Barretos was awesome! The lambs that couldn't be there saw the videos with excitement, wishing to be there too! She is AMAZING that's why we love her so much! We are praying and waiting for another stunning performance here! Thanks for coming MIMI! PLEASE COME BACK TO BRAZIL TO SEE US AGAIN ! WE LOVE YOU!"

Danilo - "I live in Assis, SP in a small town, about a 3 hours from Barretos, went alone by car, with faith and courage, because I did not know any lambs here in my city. I was there that night got the time the show ended, the gates were not opened until she left Barretos, and when she arrived, we were already inside the arena, so I have not seen, or took photo of her, but when the show ended I went in the back of the arena and talked with some security and they put me in there. I could hardly believe it! I talked extensively with Trey. He is very simple and fun. He took me to Mariah's dressing room that was locked. I believe I was the first person who came there after she left because her perfume was still in the air, and all those air fresheners as well. Trey very nicely ordered me to sit on the furniture and had taken my photos. Trey also told me I could pick up the set list that was on the dressing table. I was very happy! I believe I've only done it in Barretos, was very exciting... will be stored forever in my heart."

Fan runs away, Peruvian crosses border to see Mariah
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 23-Aug-2010, 7:12PM EDT
Fans in love with Mariah Carey travel many miles to go to Barretos for the North-American singer's show

Barretos, 21/08/2010 15h03 - An 18-year-old student from the state of Minas Gerais ran away from home on his birthday and a young Peruvian crosses the border. All because of love for Mariah Carey. The fans of the North-American singer were in line at the beginning of this Saturday afternoon at Parque do Peão, where the singer will make a performance tonight. They say any craziness is worth to get close to the R&B diva. Mariah is one of the main attractions of the party, which will go on until August 29.

Fred Cezar, an 18-year-old student, left home in Ouro Branco, in the state of Minas Gerais, on the morning of August 20th. It was his birthday and a party was set to celebrate the occasion. Without his parents' permission, he left the city by bus and went to Barretos. "It's for my 18th birthday celebration. My mom only found out when I was almost getting here," he says. He was one of the first in line at the beginning of the afternoon.

The fans had to face a very hot day at Parque do Peão. Some were using umbrellas, others were looking for areas less exposed to the sun. Nothing that could turn down the excitement of the group.

"For what I feel about Mariah, I could do more, much more," says Elói Filho da Silva Nascimento, human resources assistant, 18 years old. "We go through so much in life that is worth spending a day in the sun to see a goddess," adds the English teacher Rodrigo Nascimento de Oliveira, 26.

Elói Nascimento came from Fortaleza and arrived on Friday. He didn't sleep and was walking around the park. He was the first in line. Professor Rodrigo traveled from Vitória, Espirito Santo, to Barretos because of love for the singer. "We have been fans for so long that our lives are related to Mariah."

Peruvian Fredy Hianqui, 22, arrived in Barretos at 7h on this Saturday and went directly to Parque do Peão. He got on a plane in Lima to São Paulo, and then a bus to Barretos. "I love her. I discovered her music 5 years ago." He claimed that the fact the show was going to happen in Brazil was important on his decision. "Mariah plus Brazil is everything," he says.

The attendance operator Tiago Dias, 25, was face to face with the diva before. He was working at the hotel in which the diva checked in and managed to get a picture with her. "I was ecstatic, it was like I was completely numb," he says. A São Paulo resident, he got on a bus to Barretos at dawn this Saturday.

Also coming from a far place was the operation manager Fabio Luís da Cunha, 26. He lives in Rio de Janeiro and got on a bus on Friday afternoon, right after work. "It is really worth it. I would do even 20 times more for her. Mariah is everything in my life. Whenever I think about a stage in my life, there's a Mariah song," he confesses.

The fans will have to wait a lot to get inside the arena. The opening should happen only when all the rodeo competitions are all over, which is going to happen around midnight.

Mariah Fans Line Up for Barretos Concert
Posted by Lynn on Saturday, 21-Aug-2010, 8:56PM EDT

Barretos SP, 21/08/2010, 14h53 - Early Mariah Carey fans have come to Barretos, in Sao Paulo for the show of the American singer which takes place on Saturday night in the Cowboy Festival. The first in the queue arrived at 6am and came from São Paulo.

"We took the bus at midnight, arrived here early to go the the show. It's tiring, but worth it. I could get an autograph outside the hotel [where she stayed in the state capital], but twenty years ago I wait for a show of it," said student Lucas Figueiredo, 19.

Of the dozens of people who improvised a line in front of the arena, only five were women. Most of the boys was part of a group of 70 people who came by bus from Rio de Janeiro and arrived in the city around 11am. A Peruvian group also arrived.

"I took the plane in Lima [Peru's capital] on Thursday evening and arrived in Sao Paulo early Monday. We went to the door of the hotel where the Mariah was there and then took a bus and came to Barretos. I go back to Lima tomorrow," said the student administration Huanqui Fred, 22.

He has already visited Brazil three times, but this time the trip has a special taste. It is the first time he has a chance to see his idol. Also for the first time he faces a marathon of these and disburses $700 to see the concert. "I like her since I was 16 years and I'm super excited. But I love Brazil and I love Mariah, then it is the perfect combination," he explained.

Huanqui was surprised at the country mood and the venue. "I do not really like country and when they told me it was here I found it weird. But I would not miss the opportunity," he said.

The student Carlos Freire, 23, was responsible for organizing the caravan. He called the fans in the community "Mariah Carey Brazil," on Orkut. He said the group spent £9,000 to see the pop diva. "In addition to buses and the tickets, we did shirts, badge and hats in homage to it," he said.

"You must suffer for the diva. I've seen her show in Rio de Janeiro, but she only sang three songs. Now, a whole show will be celebrated." The group is planning some performances at the time of presentation. When playing "Hero" fans sway white balloons. In "Shake It Off", bring sunglasses. And in "I Want To Know What Love Is" it's time to raise their hands and shake the neon bracelets.

"It's hard to explain that love, huh? I am a fan since childhood. I like other singers, but only by Mariah I'm anxious, crying, and I get no sleep" Freire said.

"Just a fan who believes that unconditional love. I have a song for her every moment of my life," the student Luiz Mendonca, 24, who has tattooed the name of the singer on his arm.

The Barretos event organizers talk about their preparations for Mariah's concert tonight - from the construction of the stage, to the littlest details of her dressing room, in the "Video News" from Band below.

Mariah's dressing room will have comfortable furnitures with no prints in upholstery and dark curtains in place. Requests such as Fiji water, bottles of cranberry juice and diet soft drinks, teas and sports drinks, and for her production team, low-sodium snacks, fresh food and organic and cholesterol-free meals will also be provided. According to the report, Mariah did not ask for many beverages, but organizers will be providing her with red wine imported especially for her. The production team, however, ordered a bottle of traditional Russian vodka, imported beers, wines and whiskey.

Fan Stories: Mariah in Brazil, Day 1
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 20-Aug-2010, 9:53AM EDT
Brazilian fans waited eagerly and patiently for Mariah's arrival at the Fasano Hotel in Sao Paulo on Thursday, August 19. Reinaldo, Luciano, Graziela, Camila, Maria Eduarda and Willian recount their experience meeting their idol below.

Reinaldo:
"I was at the Fasano hotel, Mariah delayed. She's perfect, beautiful! She stood in front of me grabbed my hand and gave me an autograph. I watched her closely, she used a long dress and an over all. Everyone said she was pregnant. In my opinion, she's much lean than months ago."

Luciano:
"I arrived around 8:00am at the Fasano Hotel. She arrived at 2:30pm. When she was in front of me, I said, 'Mariah, make it happen for me.' She smiled and said yes, and signed my Charmbracelet CD! It was my first time seeing her, it was exciting! My daydream has been done."

Graziela:
"I wasn't at the video 'cause I was recording it! Of course I'd LOVE to be at the video but Camila and my brother Yuri were SO VERY EXCITED that I decided to be altruist (lol) and take the pics and videos for them. What a nice friend/sister, no?! I actually was handling 2 cameras and have no idea how could I be calm enough to take pictures, record videos and talk to Mariah without fainting. It was really a dream! She's always so sweet with us fans that it really worth paying the HUGE amount we had to pay to book a room at Fasano (this is why we could approach her this much)."

Here are videos recorded by Graziela of Mariah with friend Camila and brother Yuri on the lobby of the Fasano Hotel.

Camila:
"It was my second time meeting Mariah! Me and my friend Yuri Merli decided to stay at Fasano. We were waiting for her from inside the lobby. Yuri's sister Graziela was also there as she would try to film it all and take pics. As soon as Mariah arrived outside, we came closer to the door. Each one of us was holding a Hello Kitty because we thought she would recognize us as fans easily. We were the only fans there inside. As she entered the hotel, she saw us instantaneously. She then stopped in front of us, smiling and as if she would hear what we had to say to her. She was very polite and extremely sweet. We were able to talk to her quickly yet nicely. We then followed her all through the corridor as we would walk towards the elevator. As she entered in it, we asked her is she had enjoyed our 'ensembles,' she smiled and told us: 'I looove your ensembles!' It was a very fun and festive moment! She then waved at us and threw us kisses as we would say we love her. She replied with 'I love you too!' smiling as she was already inside the elevator. All we gotta do is to be eternally grateful for this 'Mariah moment.'"

Maria Eduarda:
"Despite waiting many hours, therefore having all the reasons to be tired and to need a good time of rest, it was all worth it! Mariah was so nice and considerate. She paid so much attention to the fans who waited eagerly outside the hotel. She's the greatest diva of the world! I am so very anxious for her performance on Saturday!"

Willian:
"I was able to give my Hello Kitty and butterfly necklace gift to Mariah at Fasano! She took my hand and it was magic! I took this video footage while giving her the Hello Kitty. I really want to get a hug and I will..."

Excitement Builds for Mariah's Brazil Concert
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 18-Aug-2010, 8:36PM EDT
Mariah's most anticipated show at Barretos is 3 days away, but the anxious Brazilian fans can't wait to get a glimpse of their diva. Tomorrow, August 19th, Mariah is scheduled to arrive at 9:42am at São Paulo's Guarulhos International Airport, and throngs of fans with their signs & banners, shirts and presents are expected to gather at the airport to give Mariah a warm welcome.

On August 21st, the day of the concert itself, the Brazilian online magazine Veja has revealed some of the surprises the fans have planned for the evening like putting on sunglasses during the song "Shake It Off," waving hands with bright neon bracelets throughout "I Want to Know What Love Is," and releasing balloons into the air while Mariah is singing "Hero."

Below are pictures of what some of our Brazilian fans plan on wearing to the concert. From left to right, top to bottom: the t-shirt that members of the MC Forever team will be wearing; Rio de Janeiro's Mariah Caravan team banner; Ana Carolina and Gabrielle's Mariah shirt, Bruno's shirt; Caroline's sign; and Camille's chalkboard (taken outside Copacabana last year. Camille will hold same with new text: "Thanks for coming! LYM!")

Here are some of Mariah's favorite phrases translated to Portuguese by Camila that Mariah may find useful and handy at the airport, hotel and on stage.

For the nostalgia - Para matar a saudade
You like this! - Aaah você gosta disso!
Doing the best with what I got - Estou fazendo o melhor com o que eu tenho
Get it together - Vamos organizar isso!
I love you, appreciate you and enjoy you - Eu amo vocês, dou valor a vocês e me divirto com vocês
Stonewinner - Campeão
Oh, dear - Oh, querido
I love Brazil - Eu amo o Brasil
What's up, Brazil? - Como vai, Brasil?
Do you like the ensemble? - Vocês gostam do visual?
Oh my goodness! - Oh Meu Deus! or Mewdels!

Meanwhile, Terra reports that the Barretos event organizers are preparing a real "military operation" due to Mariah's (and her staff's) demands. The organizers has assured the stage will have all the elements from Mariah's past concerts, and a new exclusive scenery for the show, special effects and even a velvet curtain. The stage will have a 4 meters high deck for the dancers, drums and percussion, and also where Mariah will perform at some moments during the concert. Mariah and her staff will be placed at the whole main dressing room of the Parque do Peão, known as Casa dos Artistas (Stars' House). The sound system is from the São Paulo's company Gabisom, the same that supplied the sound equipments to the European edition of the "Rock In Rio" world music festivals.

Preparations Underway for Mariah's Barretos Concert
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 30-Jul-2010, 12:40PM EDT

The diva comes to Brazil with a team that includes a masseuse and physical therapist. In total, 40 people will accompany Mariah Carey for her Brazil show

The organization's Cowboy Festival Aid Association is mobilizing a large operation so that the whole structure of the stage, sound and lighting meet the needs of American singer Mariah Carey who will perform a show at the Cowboy Festival in Barretos on August 21. A scenario was developed exclusively for the show which is scheduled to last for 1½ hours.

"We will build on stage two bases to support the platform for the dancers, drums and percussion that are four meters in height and 4 x 4 in diameter," explains director Cassio Leite. "Mariah will also perform on this platform. Entrance will be below the structure."

Also on stage will be three exchangers for a total of 50 square meters, intended for dancers, ballet dancers and the singer. Mariah and her team, consisting of 38 people between backing singers, dancers, physical therapist, masseuse and musicians, will occupy all available space in the dressing room known inside the Cowboy Park, as Casa dos Artistas.

The list of requirements for the dressing rooms also begins to be provided next week. One is that the air conditioning temperature must be unique in all environments. Various decorative items are also described in the requests. Premises for the offices shall be equipped with internet, phone and notebook.

Even with the special operation, Cassio Leite recalls that the infrastructure available at Cowboy Park is the same for all shows. "Mariah's team has already checked everything and we're building; and we met all the requirements of its production. They should only bring major musical intruments like drums and keyboards."

Mariah's team will arrive in Brazil on August 18. Mariah is expected to arrive either Aug. 19th or 20th via her own plane from Los Angeles to Sao Paulo, then to Barretos.

The company hired by the Cowboy Festival to offer sound is the Sound of Gabi, responsible for events like Rock in Rio Lisbon and Madrid. "The company is one of the three best in the world and fortunately is Brazilian," says Leite.

Official Press Release: Mariah Carey in Barretos
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 12-Jul-2010, 10:11AM EDT
MARIAH CAREY WILL BE PERFORMING EXCLUSIVELY AT THE BARRETOS RODEO
Concert to take place on the 21st of August in Barretos, Sao Paulo

It has been confirmed that the North American super star Mariah Carey will be performing at the 55th Barretos Rodeo, the biggest of its kind in Latin America. The concert will take place on Saturday, August 21 on the main stage of the Rodeo Arena. The rodeo will take place from the 19th to the 29th of August.

Mariah Carey has made an indelible impact on the global music industry and audiences everywhere as the best-selling female artist of all time whose eighteen #1 singles rival all but The Beatles. As a singer and songwriter, Ms. Carey has been recognized with five Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, Billboard's "Artist of the Decade" Award, The World Music Award for "World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium," and was named one of Rolling Stone's select "100 best artists of all time" list, to name a few accolades.

The fifty thousand capacity arena will stage Mariah's super production as it is her only scheduled show in Brazil for the year and will mark her second time performing in the country.

INTERNATIONAL CONCERTS
Mariah Carey's performance retakes a tradition of the Barretos Rodeo of having an international concert during the event, which has had Shakira (1995), Garth Brooks (1998), Alan Jackson (1999), Reba McEntire (2000) and A-HA (2001). The event hasn't had an international concert since A-HA.

"We have been dreaming of an international concert for almost a decade and now we are returning with one of the biggest names of music in the world," says the President of the Barretos Rodeo, Marcos Murta.

In addition to Mariah Carey's concert, the Barretos Rodeo will have over 100 national concerts during the 11 days of the event, which includes a national and international rodeo.
