U.S.A.
I am very pleased that Mariah released something that wasn't typical of her usual first single choices. This is a great summer jam and I think no matter who you are, you can relate to this at some point in your life. Way to go Mariah! Looking forward to the entire album this August. - Robert Cableton, Little Rock, AR

Ok So first of all Mrs. Carey-Cannon is pure genius. I have read other reviews saying the song is bad not good because of auto-tune. In my opinion you can't really notice it as much. I know this is a different sound for Mariah, but that is what makes her unique in what she does. She making music she loves and because of that, "Obsessed" is a good song. Has an uptempo beat with enough bass to bust the windows out my car. We all clearly know who she is talking about ("Napoleon complex"). Need i say more? I say she has been holding back for too long and enough is enough. This record is very expressive and you can feel it. "Obsessed" is lyrically amazing. From the metaphors to the put downs. Eccentric can describe how i see this record. This track set her apart from others even more, because we know it's something she's been through and experienced which gives more life to a song. Vocally this song doesn't captivate her range not one big. It is a fun summer record for all to enjoy. Again, pure genius she is. - Dario Herrera, Phoenix, AZ

I think Mariah Carey is an amazing artist, but this song does not showcase her talent, It was really disappointing. In the past Mariah has never been one to make songs cutting down other people. I was saddened that Mariah would go after Eminem in this song, sense it clearly is about their ongoing feud. On Mariah's last album she had a song called, "I Wish You Well" which was a song about forgiveness and loving your enemies and those who curse you, What happened to that Mariah? - Nehemiah Woods, Phoenix, AZ

"Obsessed" is a great radio song... but not a great Mariah Carey song. She is in my opinion, the greatest singer who ever walked this planet. I know you have to keep updating your sound, and it's cool for a first single... but this is far from a "great Mriah Carey song." She needs to go back to using her voice. Even songs like "Heartbreaker" and "Fantasy" are such amazing songs and they were fast and uptempo. "Obsessed" is just such a song for teeny boopers like Rihanna or Keri Hilson. Mariah is a full grown woman, and can sing circle around anyone in the music industry, so show us that. Bring back the Mariah Carey that everyone knows and loves. This new autotuned, urban thing is not working. Nonetheless, I love her and will buy 58 of her albums lol. - Shawn, Phoenix, AZ

For once in her career it's not the voice that is the center stage, or the high notes, or even Mariah Carey herself. But for once in her career, her lyrics are center stage. - Eddie Stephen, Berkeley, CA

Mariah's song is clearly demonstrating that she is exasperated. She cuts that person down to size so cleverly. Yet she does it with style, class and sexiness all at the same time. No other artist has that same musical ability. - Aryana, Concord, CA

I adore Mariah and must admit I'm 'Obsessed!' Someone, who we all know, has been obsessing over her and saying untrue things. The great thing is, she won't even mention his name or stoop down to his level. Mariah is a class act, she has retaliated with poise by creating a brilliant track with a fresh sound, a great hook, and smooth power vocals. She is the greatest artist of our time! Keep those hot tracks coming Mimi. Looking forward to hearing your 'Memoirs' on August 25th! - Steve DaPri, Costa Mesa, CA

Am loving it soo much, it's something different but it's definitely Mariah. I can't get enough! I am so "Obsessed." - Abraham V. Garcia, Fresno, CA

First thingz first, Mariah Carey u r tha best there iz! Ur new single obsessed iz going to be a big hit. Tha remix wit gucci mane iz hot too. I cant WAIT till ur new album drops on Aug. 25! - James D., Fresno, CA

I absolutely love the new single! Mariah's voice is friggin awesome. I've listened to the song like 50 times. The lyrics are superb: ) - Jose villanueva, Galt, CA

Where can I even begin? I was so nervous to hear it for the first time and when I finally heard the first few beats I was blown away. At first I didn't recognize it was Mariah because of the auto-tune. I think this was very effective because it's not the typical Mariah you hear from her previous tracks. The hook is very catchy and the lyrics are pure genius. We all know who she's talking about here. It's about time to say, "enough is enough!" I haven't stopped listening to it and friends have been calling me an unofficial PR person for Mariah. - Dante D., Long Beach, CA

Wow! "Obsessed" is a great single. I loved the beat and loved the way she dissed Eminem. The beat was like her other song "Migrate." I also enjoyed the vocals and her lyrics. - Vicky Kim, Los Angeles, CA

I am really proud of Mariah for standing up to the rumors on this track. So many times females get bashed by their male counterparts in the music industry, and the females just remain quiet while the bashers try to make themselves look like a big shot. I was happy that Mariah exposed the kind of guy that makes up rumors, and tries to ruin a girl's reputation for the insecure "Napoleon Complex" little boys they really are. Go mariah go! - Joan Fowler, Los Angeles, CA

"Obsessed" is a dire reminder that hell hath no fury like a diva provoked. The song will definitely become a fan favorite for its witty, sassy, lyrical kiss-off of an unnamed obsessor (who by all accounts, is the one they call Phlegminem), and for its steady, syncopated beat courtesy of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Line after line, MC dishes out diss after diss, her lyrical jabs accentuated by vocal stutters (a la Jamie Foxx's "Blame It") and an understated, “dirt-off-her-shoulder” swag that lets us know she means business. The song isn't without its faults, however. Here, as on her last few releases, she remains unduly restrained. True, the vocals aren't the focus of "Obsessed." But the lack of a distinct vocal climax (only a nanosecond of her signature high notes at the end) makes the song a bit tedious after 3 minutes. Also, while MC explained that the song is different than anything she's done, it feels awfully familiar. I predict a 19th number one. But as for Grammy love, I'm a bit on the fence. - Mark Robinson, Los Angeles, CA

I'm really feeling 'Obsessed', I like the whole intro and outro, just wish the ad lib during outro was more upfront than back. Still a great song. I like that she finally hits back at feminem, even if she prob will deny that it is about him during interviews. I love the beat, the lyrics and the way she uses her voice; oh yes, and the fact that she uses autotune. I love the autotune use b/c it says that she is not afraid of people talking a mess about her no longer having 'the voice', she knows she's got 'the voice' and doesn't need to prove it in every single. Overall, I can't wait to download the song. When does it officially come out? - Salvador, Los Angeles, CA

I have to say, Obsessed is... and it's hard for me to say this because I am such a huge fan...it's crap! I listened to a 45 second clip at first and nothing in me said, YES, I WANT TO HEAR THAT AGAIN, THAT IS A HIT! I forced myself to then listen to the entire song and was even more disappointed. I don't know why she feels the need to, at 40 yrs of age, use lyrics like "weed" and "e"? I honestly think it's time to grow up a bit. Didn't she have a diss to Em on Charmbraclette? Why is there a need to go back? Don't be a follower...You're MARIAH FREAKIN CAREY, one of the greatest of all time, please, give us something that makes us lie awake at night thinking of how amazing you're music is... you used to do that to me... it's been lacking lately! - Hannah McLendon, Los Angeles, CA

I love it! It's something different but its still Mariah's style, I can't get enough, am soo "obsessed." - Abraham Garcia, Madera, CA

I can say "Obsessed" is a stone winner as Mariah herself would say. I really love the artistic approach she took with her lyrics. I especially love the "Bathing in Windex" line. I really hope her live perfomances for this song are as strong as the lyrics, because I would hate to see her standing around performing such a POWER WOMAN SONG. So over all excellent job Mariah. - Deseo Arce, Oakland, CA

With "Obsessed," you can hear how hard MC works to make her songs fun and so that everyone can relate to them. I think it makes a good 1st single (better than "Touch My Body," I think). I can't wait for the video, and I can't wait for "Memoirs" to see what else Mimi has for her lambs! - Sophia, Oakland, CA

It is not easy to keep composed, class and elegance while making someone who is attempting to hurt you look pitiful. Thankfully, we have the stunning genius by the name of Mariah Carey who was able to capture all of this in one brilliant tune. I am amazed by this beautiful woman's talent and the empowerment that she gives women like myself. I love Mariah, and I am thankful for the gift of amazing music she gives us! "Obsessed" is only the beginning, she's just getting started! - Adri, Orange, CA

So after hearing "Obsessed" for the first time I became "immersed" in it! I love the new single cuz the lyrics are hot! It just goes to prove Mariah's unbelievable talent and amazing work ethic! I love her so, much and I am beyond words excited to Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel! I believe this album will nothing short of PERFECT! Good luck, with all that you do Mariah, you're amazing and I live to support you! Muah! - Priscilla, Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I love Mariah's new song "Obsessed." It is fun and upbeat, a perfect song to dance to or sing along to anywhere. The first time I heard it, all day I was singing the lyrics. It is very catchy and sure to be a hit like "Touch My Body." Thanks for letting me share my review of this awesome song! - Brianna Butler, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

I love, love, love the song. I have been a fan of Mariah's since she first came out. She's always coming out with something hot and I love how the lyrics to this song puts that person in their place. I cannot wait for the new album, I'm so excited. I first heard the song at work and I screamed with excitement when I knew that it was premiering on the 16th! Haha! My co-workers looked at me like I just won the lottery, but who cares? Lol! I love the new song and it's been playing in my head, anything Mariah does I love, and I will always be a huge fan! Love you Mariah! I'm obsessed with "Obsessed"! - Rudy Bonilla, Rosemead, CA

I was stuck in summer school here in Sacramento, and when 12 o'clock hit here I knew it was released. I kept refreshing the Mariah Daily web page on my phone to see when it was offiicially released, and of course it was released when I was in school and couldn't hear it until i got home. I was so eager to hear it. When i listened to it, Ii was amazed. Of course, this song grew on to me after about 5 times i played it. I know, right? You're probably thinking wow someone's a bit 'obsessed', actually I am. It's definitely a club banger. Her catchy lines always grab my attention. This is definitely going to sky rocket as it gets sold on iTunes and is offically released on the radio. "Obsessed" as her first single, literally blew me away where I heard it. - Matt Mene, Sacramento, CA

When I streamed the world premiere of "Obsessed" live on Chicago's B96, I was completely blown away. MC had come back in a HARD way. From the opening "so so so.." I was myself, all at once, obsessed. The heavy hitting beat and her soaring auto-tuned vocals start the song off bangin', and doesn't stop. MC has had it and she's lettin' it be known. Her often soft, playful vocals and replaced with her strong lower and mid registers, and MC the songwriter/producer/vocal-arranger is on full display. Every time you listen to the song, there's something new to discover. That's one of the many reasons I love MC. There are so many layers to her songs and her music, from the beats themselves, to the vocals, and for me, as a singer/songwriter/producer, most importantly, her lyrics. MC really lets the songwriter in her loose on "Obsessed" showin' off her rhymin' skills and knack for easily throwing jokes into her songs on this track, "You on your job/ You hating hard/ Ain't gon' feed you/ I'm gonna let you starve" and "You a mom and pop/ I'm a corporation/ I'm the press conference/and you a conversation", MC lets everyone know she runs this, and she ain't worried about keeping up with the best, they better keep up with MC. This is her game and "Obsessed" is definitely going to be MC's 19th #1 hit, no doubt. "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" is set to be MC's best work ever, and dropping just in time for this years Grammy Award deadline. MC is back. Again. - Adrian James, San Diego, CA

With "obsessed" I was looking forward to something else more upbeat, and fun. Vocally it showcases nothing. It seems as if anyone could of sang it. However I understand she wanted to come out & say something which in that case lyrically the song is awesome & very catchy granted I have it on repeat & I can't get the chorus outdo my head. And I'm sure it's gonna do great on radio. I think real Mariah fans seem to critique her songs harder just because we know what she able to really do. All in all the song is great I love it....yet as a "Mariah Carey" song it's just ok - Robert Clark, San Diego, CA

I was so pleased with Mariah's new single "Obsessed". What a classy way to defend yourself from a complete rude and outdated artist. I believe that this single will be Mariah's next number 1 single. It's gonna be the women's anthem of the summer. Lyrics, like "You're a mom & pop, I'm a corporation" had me laughing. I believe that this is a great track to be heard with a live band as well. Haters gotta pick a new target, Mariah killed 'em with this one. - Darnelle W., San Diego, CA

Even though I am not the biggest fan of Miss Carey, I do have to say I enjoy her new single a lot! I had never really heard any of her songs until "The Emacipation of Mimi," and even then I didn't really think it was that great of songs/singles "from such a talented" singer. Next I heard her "E=MC2" and to say I completely loathe it is an understatement. But now, I have to admit that with "Obsessed," I don't know what it is about the song - but it's been replay since I first heard it. While I still need to hear the "voice" that every other person but me seems to have heard, I will say that her new single will keep me litening to her. - Angel, San Diego, CA

Obsessed is sure to blaze Mariah to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100. Mariah never fails to make hit after hit, and "Obsessed" is a pure example of her amazing talents! Obsessed is sure to be heating the airwaves this summer! Get ready for a hot summer of MCC! - By Jamonique Fletcher, San Francisco, CA

I love the song. Mariah ain't stop surprising me. Luv yah Mariah! - Shirley, Stockton, CA

"Obsessed" is so OOC! It's crazy. I was amazed how fly that song was. It had me hooked right from the beginning when The-Dream says "Will the real MC please step to the mic." I was hooked like the phonics. I'm totally obsessed with obsessed because I had a crazy person like try to tell people he was seeing me when it was in his imagination can u say looney tunes. Well "Obsessed" is my new jam of the summer - it has hooks and the autotone sound, is contagious. Love MCC 4ever - Vivian Jackson, Ventura, CA

Mariah has definitely done it again! "Obsessed" has to be one of her best yet. Mariah once again proves herself as a song writer and R&B singer, it really shows how versatile she can be in her music (not many of today's R&B genre have the talent vocally). I think she totally gained points in this "battle" with Eminem. She strikes back in a tasteful way unlike Eminems so called lame rap. She hits hard vocally and the beat is one you can dance to, this will for sure be the anthem of the year for all those who are in the same situation with an "obsessed" someone! Hearing this song only makes me more and more excited for the album to drop and as well as what the video will be like! Once again Mariah is here to stay and take back her throne as the #1 artist of all time! I am definitely OBSESSED with this song! - Armando, Denver, CO

I can COMPLETELY OBSESSED with Mariah's new single "Obsessed". Her voice sounds amazing, the production is phenomenal and the lyrics... what more can I say about the lyrics? PURE GENUIS. Mariah has done it again and is on her way to her 19th #1 single! Us lambs will make sure of that! Can't wait for August 25, 2009! - Richie Angel Lee, Denver, CO

OMG! I am so OBSESSED! MC is my all time favorite, and she always seems to amaze me. I can't wait to hear the whole album! God, August is to far away. I can't stop listening to OBSESSED it is such a hot track. I love you Mariah! You are the Queen of my world keep up the good work as you always do. Muah! - Michael Solano, Colorado

This is such a hot hot hot song. I am counting down the days until Aug. 25 and watch this song and disc sweep the Grammys this coming year. This is again the Year of the Mariah. This song will be rocking peoples summer events all summer long. Way to go Girl. This song is so hot you can even touch it. Billboard I would hope will see this song come right in and lock itself at number 1 for weeks to come. - John M. Torello, East Haven, CT

My girl MCC did it big with this one. I already declare it her 19th #1 single. Whomever it's intended for (take a guess) is probably wishing his mouth was shut from the start. I can't stop listening to it. Yes, I'm Obsessed with "Obsessed" but, who wouldn't be? Just like "We Belong Together" was the #1 summer song of '05, MCC has just released the #1 summer song for '09... OBSESSED! Love you Mariah! Let's Go!" - Ashley Lopez, Miami, FL

Talking about "Obsessed"! I recorded the world premiere at Chicago's B96 with my webcam, and if you see my face, I was already empowered, under the song's control. I am like so "Obsessed" with the song now. Can't stop listening to it over and over again, all day long. Though for a moment it was written for me 'cause people be telling me that I am so "Obsessed" with her! Like another Mariah Carey fan wouldn't buy 15 albums at once the day of release (April 15th - E=MC2 - I bought 15 albums!). Anyone? - Benjamin, Miami, FL

Obsessed with "Obsessed"! Our girl did it again! Only Mariah can pull this ingenious song off! I love it! Beautiful lyrics and her voice sounds well rested. Also her emphasizing on some words are incredible. Great background echoes and I adore the uptempo beat. It is great for the summer. The music is beautiful and lyrically the words are well-put together - great songwriting and the hook is really catchy! I have three of my friends singing it already! This song will go well with the hot Miami weather, me in my bikini on South Beach and me cruising the 95! - Stayci, Miami, FL

I love the new Mariah Carey single. I could do without the auto-tune and the stuttered "oh's" that compare to Jamie Foxx's Alchohol. Although, It makes sense to deliver on those overused qualities in order to catch a listener on today's radio stations. Overall, it's a true smash. The lyrics are phenomenal and remind a lot of her Butterfly-era in the sense that they are telling a story but also using the same formula that she used in TEOM where she uses everyday common phrases or words (ie: Windex or Bacardi as used in ILT). I hope the rest of the record is as promising. Mimi never does dissapoint. - James, Miami, FL

Well I'm soooo OBSESSED with this song I been playing it on my computer none stop since it came out! And I love it! Super hot! And I told everyone about it! I can't wait for it to come out on iTunes cuz we the lambs gotta make this record her 19th #1 and I have the feeling we are. Why? Cuz we are OBSESSED with Mariah :-) - Martin, Miami, FL

Mariah is back on the scene with her blazin' summer hit, 'Obsessed'. The catchy chorus and mesmerizing beat is sure to make this her 19th #1, putting her that much closer to surpassing the Beatles. If I were to meet Ms. Carey herself, I would have to say that this song is Y.A.K.I.: You.Absolutely.Killed.It! - Aryah Elle, Miami Beach, FL

I actually loved the song and am obsessed with "Obsessed." It was a good idea to give that piece of garbage Eminem some of his own medicine. And I liked the idea of having a nice fun summer hit first. Now we need a BIG BALLAD!. - Nathan, Miami Beach, FL

I was not sure at the beginning but now I love this new style. It grows on you magically! Totally supported by me and I hope to listen the dance remixes and the whole album of course. Oh and I wish in the video other respectable she goes... all my ladies sing! She should be supported by her friends, as a support gesture! The insulting to women needs to stop! - Cristian, Miami Beach, FL

The imperfect angel has entered the club and she doesn't plan on leaving anytime soon! "Obsessed" hit airwaves this week and a new era has begun. "Obsessed" starts with a strong beat, one of the strongest beats we have seen on a Mimi single release, let alone an album track in a long time. With most of Mariah's singles I have to allow myself a good 10-20 full listens before I can truly grasp the magic she performs each and every time. With "Obsessed" it wasn't any different. Initially the first listen was a little uneasy for me, I was scared of the auto tones and I was annoyed with the Eminem reference. We were blessed with "Clown" from Charmbracelet giving a nice subtle attack at the idiot, so was another song really necessary?....yes it was! The second and tenth listens determined that this was a song I could love, a song I would want to brag about and a song that will dominate the charts until the album drops on August 25th!- Steven, Orlando, FL

OK lemme just say that I was hysterical laughing when she opened with the Mean Girls' quote. Classic MC. It's something personal that only her true lambs would get. I'm feeling this song much more than "Touch My Body," it feels more like nostalgic Mariah in the Butterfly era. It's got a great hook and beat to it, it's gonna be all over the clubs this summer. Eminem watch out! Here's to #19, baby!!! P.S.- this should win a Grammy or two. - Jenna Gilliland, Palm Coast, FL

One of my favorite singers back with another and I quote MC: "SGSHW (Stone Grooving Smash Hit Wonder)." With a catchy tune and clever lyrics this just might be her 19th #1. My favorite snap on the song: "Finally found a girl that you couldn't impress" Obsessed to the fullest. Heiffson Sousa, Tampa, FL

When the song premiered on B96, my first reaction was "Is this really Mariah?" I had absolutely no idea what to expect the song to sound like and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was hooked after the first beat! I love that she's taken such a different approach with "Obsessed." For someone who is known for big ballads and an even bigger voice, this is a nice change; she's proven her talent since 1990, so why not showcase another side? The lyrics are cleverly delivered and she lets the world know she's not one to mess with! The song is definitely a S.G.S.H.W.! #19 here we come!! - Kathryn, West Palm Beach, FL

OMG Mariah you are amazing and brilliant when it comes to writing your lyrics let alone your voice which is BEAUTIFUL. Obsessed is such a good song to come out with as your first single. It's HOT, it's FRESH and so radio friendly and I so feel it's your 19 number 1 ! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL. I'm sure it will be a S.G.S.H.W. - David Ramos Jr., Winter Park, FL

Good Lyrics but i think it's going to hurt Mariah using Autotune and people are going to try to say she can't sing and the beat should be faster so people can dance and at the end the music overshadows the strong vocals I just hope this is not the only version. She can have at least one version without Autotune I pray. I love Mariah when you can hear her clear true voice not the autotune but I'm sure she knows that. I know it's gonna be a hit nevertheless. - Horace, Atlanta, GA

The song has a different lyrical content than her previous work. Perhaps the new hubby offered some new insight. The song overall is ok... 3 out of 5 stars. I know with age she is not able to achieve her vocal heights, but at least there is a different edge to her style... on this one anyway. - Dedric, Atlanta, GA

It's a good song but not for the first single. The beat it so light. It doesn't make you want to dance. - Ernest, Atlanta, GA

I thought the song was so appropriate for the moment only because I have been seeing alot of people going through the same thing as the song, people wanting to talk and bring others down because of rejection. The song is going to be an extreme HIT and anthem for everyone who has an upset stalker or ex who just can't get over us JEJEJE... In my opinon the song is awesome and I think will serve as Mariah's 19th #1. The music is upbeat enough to play at a club and dance too but also just chill and relax to. It's not too fast either, just right. The song is perfect for this summer and again couldn't have come out at the right time. Go Mimi! - Caleb, Atlanta, GA

How obsessed am I? The first time I heard it on Chicago B96 I jumped up and started dancing. Few minutes later, it's on my Itunes I've already heard it over 100 times! It's been the only song I played since it was released. In fact, I'm playing it right now and I know every word already. When it gets released I'm going to buy multiple copies to make sure it's #1 and I've requested it 6 times at different radio stations in Georgia. Also, this song is relatable to many girls and gays like me. It's a shoutout to this guy I used to be talking to. This is my favorite MC song yet! It's so RAHH-licious. - Brian-Ryan, Georgia

Mariah is on fiyah! Who else (in the world) can use the word "Windex" in a song (and make it a hit!)? With a great beat and an undeniable voice, Mariah is showing the world once again that she has no plans to go anywhere! It's been almost 20 years in the business and I honestly cannot get enough. I am too excited for "Memoirs" and I thank you, Mariah, for showcasing your God given talents to the world. You are truly Blessed and I am forever grateful to you for the music that you make. Lova Ya! - Jon-Norman, Honolulu, HI

I am a big Mariah fan and everytime she comes out with something, I never call to request or comment on sites like this (I know, shame on me) but I have to say that this new song Obsessed is HOT! I can't stop listening to it. I will request the song everyday if I have to, because this is a definite #1 hit! Way to go MC. - Michael, Chicago, IL

Gosh I first time I heard it I went home on my lunch break and heard it first on B96 cuz I'm from St. Charles, IL but I was so happy to hear her come back with with strong song! When I got home from work I went stright to my computer and played it OVER OVER OVER AND OVER again! I stayed up till 2am playing it and even played all Mariah's first songs off her albums too so it was such a great Mariah day! I let everyone know that her new song was coming out too. So all my friends know how "Obsessed" I am with Mariah Carey and her new hot record! Mariah, you're always be my "Hero." Love you! - David DeLeon, St. Charles, IL

From a musical standpoint, it's got a very catchy hook and it has that hard bass, summertime feel that people will love to blast in their cars as they drive to the beach. It's also got some elements that Mariah doesn't normally incorporate like the AutoTune. Is it her greatest vocal showcase? No. Is it a brand new concept in the industry? No. But it doesn't need to be. It's summer, and people want a break. They want to dance at the club, go to the beach, road trip with their friends with music as a fun element, not a musical mastery of vocal showcasing or some brand new concept they aren't sure they like. "Obsessed" is already blaring out from computers and radios up and down my city street and I think it's safe to say I'm the only big MC fan on the block. I think it's a definite contender for her nineteenth #1. - Melissa, Iowa

This single is what was needed to kick off a highly anticipated album. It is sure to get people wanting more Mariah. This is an amazing song by an even more amazing singer-songwriter. I absolutely love this song and am totally excited about promoting this song and getting the song heard around Wichita where I live. Mariah is sounding superb vocally on this song and the way she delivers the lines, you know she is talking about all of her haters. Mariah is amazing and I love this song, I cannot wait for this to be digitally released so that I can purchase it for my mp3 player! - Jimmy, Wichita, KS

I'll be honest. When I first heard the song I was like, "I'm not really feeling this." This is a full 360 from 1990's Mariah to "Obsessed." After I listened to it a couple of time I started to feel it and now I love it. I can't get the lyrics out of my head and I've played it over and over. I love this song. I love the remix even better. My favorite part is "I'm a press conference and your a conversation." She really, really got who ever she was dissing and they are gonna have to work hard to top that. I only see good things for Mariah in the the future. Can't wait for the album and the second single. - Joshua Jackson, Baton Rouge, LA

Mariah will always be Mariah, no matter what the haters say. All of the true fans will laugh immediately upon hearing "I was like, "Why are you so obsessed with me?" Mariah is a huge fan of the movie Mean Girls and she definitely showed it in this song. "Obsessed" does one up to her 2003 Eminem song "Clown", the lyrics are sharper and the vocals and the final overall product paints a picture for everyone to enjoy (except Eminem and you and you know who you are!). Even non-Mariah fans will be bumping this song, because of its universal message, come on how many guys or girls come up to you in the club and be stalking you ahahah. I am officially "Obsessed" with this song. - Mike S, Boston, MA

"Obsessed" is the best! I am 'Obsessed' with it! MC is blastin' the radio waves with this single! - Kyle, Masachussetts

I love the song so much i can't stop listening to it. The beat is really good and Mariah's vocals fit it perfectly. The song is incredible and completely different compared to her music in general. I also like where she gets back at Eminem for dissing her without even mentioning his name but you can tell who she's talking about. I think it's gonna be another big hit and I can't wait for her new album. Also how her voice sounds different on the song more upbeat. - Melissa, Southbridge, MA

This is a side of Mimi that I have never seen before! Mariah is getting really feisty with this snap back at Eminem, and it's hot tamale! I love the lyrics and the beat and of course Mariah. The lyrics are so quotable it is RIDICULOUS. "You're a mom and pop/I'm a corporation" "Gasping for air/I'm ventillation/You out of breath/hope you ain't waiting" FIERCE. The-Dream and Tricky Stewart really outdid themselves on this song. THE NEW SUMMER SMASH! And definitely numero 19 for Ms.Mimi. Mariah has popped into 2009 with a strike at all the haters, and if you aren't "Obsessed" with this song yet, you certainly will. - Charia M., Detroit, MI

"Obsessed" is a sure fire hit for her. A lot of lambs expect this one to be Mariah’s 19th number one, which will break her own record for most number one singles of a solo artist. With this one Mariah definitely shows off her writing skills. The words alone could easily captivate someone but with her smooth vocals and beautifully placed legendary whistle notes in the background towards the end of the song, Mariah has done it again! Can’t wait to see this one at the top of the charts. - Traviss Rohn, Michigan

Mariah has done it again! I don't understand how someone with her age can remain so relevant to our time. Well lets just call her our angel our "imperfect (perfect) angel." Amazing song from an amazing artist with an amazing album coming out. - Levenius Hodges, Minneapolis, MN

Obsessed is very relevant to previous endeavours i.e. "Migrate" and "It's Like That." The Dream /Tricky throw in a nochalant mid-tempo synth driven beat more suited for playing in the car rather than in the club. The lyrics are what makes the song. She uses clever punch lines and smart comments to her opponent such as "Im a press confrence / you're a conversation" and "You're a mom and pops / Im a corporation." However with all these funny comments and well written verses there is nothing to be said about the chorus... it's severely lacking in a melody which throws the listener off track. There is nothing to grab hold on to as to a melodic catch. With a strong chorus or bridge thrown in I believe it could have been one stand out track. It sounds more like an answer record on a mixtape than a first single. - Isaiah, Minneapolis, MN

BLAZING TRACK! This is gonna be her next #1 - without a doubt. Music is amazing. Melodies are amazing. Lyrics are DEFINITELY amazing. Listening to it makes me happy :) - Jessica, Minnesota

I think that lyrically "Obsessed" is very witty and smart. I don’t think that there necessarily is a hook or a moment in the song that is catchy enough to stick with someone all day. "Touch My Body" was very catchy with the beat and phrases such as the “youtube” and “I will hunt you down” moments. I like the song. It is very urban, and I wish that she would come out with something a little more poppy. I think the song is too heavy musically and in theme to really be a great summer anthem. - Aaron Nesbitt, Springfield, MO

I'm a big Mariah fan. And I love the new song. My only criticism is I really wanted to hear some mad vocals in her upper register. And hopefully "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" will have that in it. :) Lookin forward to 8/25. - Billy, Fayetteville, NC

I am totally obsessed with 'Obsessed!' I tend to be obsessed with any new song that Mariah comes out with, but this is a new and amazing sound for her. This song is total R&B. Can't wait to see 'obsessed' hit number 1. The song has a good message, because "you know who" is obsessed and it's not healthy. Hopefully, "you know who" will get the message and realize his cruel obsession. Only Mariah can break out some rhymes like she done on this song. Took me quite a few listens to get the song down pat. I like the vocal arrangements during the chorus. The whole sound does sound different, yet so Mariah. To me, Mariah is her own category, but this song is mainstream. I've never considered Mariah to be mainstream because Mariah is written all over her work, but this time, she really went with the flow. "Obsessed" is like "Touch My Body" on crack. It's hot. The bass and beat is the best I've heard on any Mariah song. I have a real good feeling about this song. I can't wait to hear the next single. Go Mariah! - Andrew, Broadway, NC

What I love about "Obsessed" that it is something a lot of women AND men can relate to. Stalkers come in all types! Plenty of people have had people lying about them romantically, sexually, socially and professionally, so the message can be applied in all those ways. Once again, Mariah always stays so relevant and I love it! Once I understood that Mariah was saying "he's all up in my George Foreman," I loved that joke! - Alexis, Las Vegas, NV

Amazing Song. She has hit it on the nail yet again. She she says "your a mom and your and I'm a corporation." Priceless material. Once again we will be quoting Mariah in our daily lives as we did with "I will hunt you down." Mariah will break the world record of 20 singles very shortly. - Jay C, Union, NJ

"Obsessed" is the perfect way to start out the new era. Not only does Mariah give fans a sure-fire summer hit, but she also finally gives a certain someone what they deserve - and the fans love it. - Brian Taitt, New Jersey

"Obsessed" is quite brilliant. A beat that automatically makes your body move; hard-hitting, yet intelligently written, classy lyrics; and vocals that make it known it is Mariah Carey singing the song: Everything is right. I must admit, I did not know what to expect. I was not satisfied with "Touch My Body" eing released as the first single off of E=MC2 (although it did very well), so my expectations for "Obsessed" were a bit low. I wanted a single that I would instantly love, not a "grower." Thankfully, Mariah has released a single that, in the first 10 seconds, I loved. Although no one knows who this about, I think that Eminem must have been a bit of inspiration for Mariah. Her lyrics mercilessly tear down the subject. She made whoever she is talking about feel very, very small. She did not have to resort to cursing, or saying disgusting things. I have a good feeling that "Obsessed" will become Mariah's 19th #1. "Obsessed" will be the summer jam! - Hector Miranda, New Jersey

The newest song "Obsessed" seems to cater to teens and hip-hop fans. Older fans are probably not going to be to fond of this latest effort. Nevertheless, Mariah Carey is a gem in so many ways, her music has delighted many and will continue to forever. Best wishes for the new album. - Michael, Albuquerque, NM

I love the song so much. Mariah can do no wrong. It's a classic Mariah uptempo song with amazing lyrics. I'm so excited for the album. I will soon start counting down the days. Mariah came back so hard. I just can't stop listening to this song. I love you Mariah. - Dioni, Bronx, NY

I love the new Mariah song. I feel she has grown in music. Mariah is the real diva. - Daniel, Bronx, NY

I am so in love with this song she says everything I would want to say to a hater that's been stalking me lol. My friends tell me I'm too obsessed with Mariah. I think it's my tattoo, but what can I say I freakin' love MC. - Andre, Bronx, NY

This is what you call FLAWLESS! MC maintains her sophistication while still delivering a summer banger with an excellent hook! MC shows us lambs she's not to be messed with! "OBSESSED" is most appropriate and can be very GENERIC hinting towards anyone! I'm sure MC will not admit if it's really towards M&M! (like candy)! Can't wait for the video! - Jose Revlon, Brooklyn, NY

"Obsessed" doesn't even begin to describe my addiction to this song. Not since "We Belong Together" have I listened to a song repeatedly for days on end (if that tells you anything!). MCC has given us a jam with a beat and lyrics so killer you can't help but move your body to it as you lip sync to insults you only wish you'd thought of yourself. Mariah continues to impress and this song carries a bite that will define the summer of 2009. - Lauren, Brooklyn, NY

I feel Mariah is too good and too classy to go at it with the likes of Eminem. "Clown" was enough, it was witty and lyrically well thought out, where as "Obsessed" falls short. I see more of The Dream in the lyrics than I do Mariah. I hate the over abundance of auto tune and the redundant melodies that seem to plague the air waves and tend to obliterate true artistry and real music. I think Mariah is a better singer than this, "Obsessed" has me turned off. I hope to hear a better follow up single, I don't want to box Mariah into any one genre or musical expression but I liken Mariah and her release of Obsessed like World Renown Chef Wolfgang Puck presenting a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese dinner. - David Sosa, Long Island, NY

As expected, Mariah comes back with a HOT single! It took me by surprise the first time I heard it, as it's far from anything Mariah has ever put out as a first single, but it works for sure. Her voice is so hypnotic on this track, and contributes to the addiction factor of this song, along with the thundering beat you can't help but get into. The way she sings along with the rhythm so smoothly in the beginning, and belts it out in the end completes the song. I like her style of singing on this song, sometimes less IS best. Her whistles and incredible belts add power to the end of the song. All I can say is, I CANNOT WAIT FOR "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" - Mariah never disappoints! - Seth, New York, NY

"I'm up in the A, you're so-so lame, and no one here even mentions your name." Totally addictive, perfectly timed, and a fearless and clever put-down of Eminem to boot. She went at him directly for his drug use, his immaturity, his need for attention, the fact that "hating hard" is his "job" and she's not going to feed him, but let him starve. The hook alone makes it very deserving of heavy rotation on radio, which seemed to ignore her E=MC2 singles after "Touch My Body." If they don't play this one, it's not a matter of taste, it's a freaking vendetta! - Scott, New York, NY

How can you not be "Obsessed" with this woman? Mariah trumps the competition in every genre of music. She is the only chick to fire back at a certain "obsessor" who is notorious for calling out high profile female celebrities! She employs flowing and clever lyrics, a hot melody, and of course the necessary sass to crush the hater! You tell 'em Mimi! - Will Dante, New York, NY

Mariah Carey proves her initials as an M.C. For one, I always knew and believed that one day Miss Mariah Carey would take a stab at a true hiphop/rap release. With her surprising new single 'Obsessed' she completely embodies that she is the only true female counterpart to any rap artist out there. And what better than to rap about bad rap: Eminem! She is definitely a genius and doesn't limit her potentials, and it's so clear to me that she has metamorphisized from her delicate 'Butterfly'-era and her broken 'Charmbracelet' moment. 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' will be more than a smash success; it will be a long overdue but appropriate, image-breaking award-winner! - Justin James, New York, NY

Obsessed is the epitome of a "stone grove smash hit wonder". From the cute spoken opening to the start of the beat to the end Mariah has us laughing, singing, and dancing along. I love the fresh comparison she makes like the "you a mom and pop im a corporation" and "see right through ya like u bathing in Windex". It's so clever, current and a sure fire 19th number one. The best part of all is how relatable the song is. Even though this song seems to be awesomely directed at one specifically, everybody has someone in their life that they feel is obsessed with them in some way. Mariah gives us another anthem to just blast out and sing a long with to make the haters go away! I love it and im certainly OBSESSED! - Joe Guinta, Staten Island, NY

"So successful yet still so eager" the pop diva is back at it again. Mariah Carey age 39, gave her lambs something to be "Obsessed" over! The lyrics are catchy the beat is sick and Mariah brought the vocals & delievery on this one! I don't think I've heard her hit a note that high since "All in Your Mind" off the debut album. Perfect summer jam. - Jay, Syracuse, NY

Let's just say I haven't listened to another song since this has been released. I'll be short and just say that it takes a real artist, especially for a female artist, to fire back at what has been an ugly attack on her character for over 6 years. Pop/R&B acts don't beef, much less female acts and for standing up for herself she must be given a standing ovation. Even if this song sucked I think I would have respected her for doing it. Luckily for us, we get a hot song and she gets to speak her mind. I think Mariah is truly the female artist of the millinium as she continues to stay current without fear of criticism. I love you Mariah! I AM TRULY OBSESSED! - Mike, New York

It's absolutely horrible, and as Mariah Carey fan for almost two decade, I'm really disappointed in her, and the producers she works with. It's just horrible, and I do not plan on buying it, or even downloading it illegally to play in NYC venues that I spin at. - Richard Liguori, New York

Baring the Eminem controversy, "Obsessed" is the up-tempo club groove us fans were craving for since we were teased with the possibility of "Migrate" being a single last year. This time Mariah’s swagga is even more evident with her sharp yet playful jabs at her would be stalker. She softly tip toes over the hard beat, produced by The Dream and Tricky, with a little help from auto-tune but isn’t overwhelmed by it. The chorus is infectious with the hypnotic repetition of "O" that is sure to have a lot of people chanting in the clubs. While this may be a new sound for Mariah, the vibe is definitely 100% hers with comparisons to the aforementioned "Migrate," "Crybaby" and the ubiquitous "Clown," from the Charmbracelet album, which was probably first indirect about this certain record. This is definitely the summer jam of ’09 and possibly another record breaker (#19 anyone?). - Gabriel Galindez, New York

All I have to say is that Mariah brought us that fire! I am loving the track. Can't stop playing it over and over. I like how she did it in a classy way. she is a legend. I know this will be another #1 so all the lambs, let's get out there, request and buy the single. Let's get it to #1! - Mark McCullers, Raleigh , NC

#1 Stone Smash Groove! Mariah never dissapoints her lambs! Number 19 here she comes! - Paul Kuznik, Avon Lake, OH

This song is "typical Mariah" with it's "wordy and composed streetsmart touch of class" lyrical genius. Simply genius. Bottom line, I love it. I think all of us as fans have just been waiting for her to come out swinging with a lyrical masterpiece to put certain folks that will go unnamed in their places. I know I have, at least. "Clown" was just the tip of the iceberg and I thought it was impressive in 2002. Just like fine wine, it seems Mariah's music only gets better with age. The line "Why are you so obsessed with me" speaks volumes, and just when you think she's said all she needed to say, the second verse comes in with analogous lines such as "you're a mom and pop" and "I'm a corporation." All I know is my jaw dropped and my inner Mariah fan went crazy with joy. There's not much else to say about this song except for the fact "welcome to Mariah's next number one, people." And she should revel in it. There's nothing the woman can't do and she's amazing. Great lyrics, great melody, great song. Perfection from the "imperfect angel." - Michele, North Canton, OH

After staying awake for over 24 hours, anxiously awaiting the premiere of Mariah Carey's new single, I was completely surprised by what I heard. Upon first listen, I was unsure of how I felt about it, because of the clear stray from form, but after listening again, I really started to get into it. From the meditated stutter, to the hard beat and use of auto-tune. This song is a microcosm of the current mode in popular music. The fact that she boldly decided to call out one of the most popular artist of this decade shows that this isn't the shy, curly haired girl-next-door that you once knew. This is a Diva stepping front and center and letting the world know that she's no shrinking violet, and won't be disrespected. All in all, The song is hot and all but guarenteed to be the summer anthem of many, including myself. Mariah has outdone herself. This is by far the best lead single of hers in years. - Cameron Courts, Toledo, OH

To be honest, the first time I heard this song I thought it kind of fizzled. Then I listened again and started to smile. Then I listened again and started singing along! I have not been able to quit listening to it since. My odd impression at first was probably due to the fact that I was expecting something lighter and more like 'summertime' (I'll Be Lovin'...). But once I got out of that mindset I was blown away by this record! Obsessed is so urban, with powerful undertones that make the message so much more effective than it could have been in other hands. If she's dissin', she's dissin' with style! Lyrically, it's such a strong lead for the album. I have to say, Mariah never ceases to amaze me with her talents. And working with The Dream and Tricky Stewart was dynamite. I remember Mariah Twittering about "Obsessed" and saying "Its different for me,but clearly, its SO me!"--true that:) I can't wait to hit the clubs with this one! It's HOT! To Mimi: Thank you for staying true to yourself, making music you love, and being an awesome person to admire. - Cody (Dunn) Roberts, Anadarko, OK

Mariah Carey's new single is verification that she can cross the industry's genres with ease. She has shown that a splash of Autotune can go along way. With some of her most creative lyrics yet she follows some of her success points from "Touch My Body." I will be suprised if this doesn't make her 19th #1! - Drew, Portland, OR

I just listened to "Obsessed" I feel so oh o h o h oh lame... because I am on my seventh run of playing! M.c. has done it yet again! This song give us an edgier Diva and the best part is these A+ disses ... "Last man on earth still couldn't hit this." This is my favorite line because we love to hear that sexy confidence she glitters off! From beginning to end the song is a small story of someone who finds it amusing someone would be obsessed over her... and doesn't even know her. What women would be perplexed? I will sing this song in my head, out loud and even in my dreams! - Melissa, Redmond, OR

“Obsessed” bangs from the beginning and yet has underlying melodic “ooh ooh’s” to blend in. She does not play around when it comes to layering vocals. Carey’s no rookie in the booth and it’s evident here. Vocally sung in her middle register, the song is quite fulfilling. We all know Mariah Carey can belt it out like no one else but to do every song like that would be annoying. The song has simple verses with a complicated chorus. The song opens with the quote “I was like, why are you so obsessed with me?” from “Mean Girls” which simply proves that “it ain’t that deep.” Also, I can just picture that. Lyrically, once again she proves she can put the oddest words into a pop/urban track and make them work. Previously she has used euphoric, Calgon, and relinquish and now, with “Obsessed” we have Napoleon, windex, and George Foreman. The fun never stops. The song is fire! - Ciara Cantwell, Philadelphia, PA

Mariah's new single is leaving fans "Obsessed". The first song from the upcoming Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel contains a hot beat, catchy hooks, and humorous, witty lyrics that ask a certain someone "Why are you so Obsessed with me?". There's no doubt the song will own the radio waves this summer. "Obsessed" is a sure hit, and it's sure to leave a certain "Clown" looking very sad. Nice job Mariah! - Zachary H, Philadelphia, PA

"Obsessed" is a great way to kick off the "Memoirs" era for Mariah. The lyrics are hilarious and witty, and even though it seems like a (much deserved) dig at Eminem, it's universal. The song is full of hooks, the verse almost seems hookier than the chorus, and the "oh oh oh's" are infectious. I can't find anything that I don't like about the song. It's an excellent choice for a summer single, and for a first single. I'm glad we have some hot new music from Mariah for the summertime. My rating: 10/10. Smash hit wonder! - Steve, Quakertown, PA

Hey the song OBSESSED, at first didn't sound like typical MC, but after listening to it a few times is fresh, catchy, and hhhhooooottt! Great summer jam! Great job MC! Can't wait for MOAIA! - GC Strasburg, PA

Oh my gosh OBSESSED is like a drug in the best way possible lol. I can't stop listening to it! It's truly amazing just like all of Mariah's other songs. It's different but I love it! I am listening right now. I haven't stopped lol no lie I can't help it. I love it so much! I AM OBSESSED! - Kelly, Providence, RI

I can't say enough about how much I love Mimi's new song! It's darker than her other singles which makes you immediately interested. With her rich, smooth, creamy vocals, catchy beat, and just that right amount of tease, it naturally pulls you in and suddenly you're hooked. You can't help but hear her new found confidence and strong assurance of self. "Obsessed" is not only going to be a number one but the hottest song for the summer of 09'. Thank you MC for steppin' up to the mike on this one. - Brandon Conger, Memphis, TN

Love the song! She has such great talent and I find it very cool that she has let be known she will NOT be run over by anyone! YOU GO GIRL! You just keep it coming! I have been a big time fan from the beginning and will continue down the road with Mariah and her life, music, ups & downs that have only made her stronger as you can see! - Carmon Ferrell, Nashville, TN

O.M.G.... the cut is off the chain! Mariah is about to pass The Beatles for the most #1 hits... hay :-) You go sistah! God has truly given you a gift and I thank the Lord and then you for sharing it with the world. I want to hear the rest. Come on Ms Mimi! - Maurice Walker, Austin, TX

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned... especially when you're exceedingly talented and in the position to publicly blast even the biggest of figures. What stands out most is that our songbird bests the well known "Diss Artist" at his own game without taking the focus off of the upcoming album. Bravo! - Theodore Davenport, Dallas, TX

It's simple: MariahCarey.com, nonstop for two days at work. Ummm - I think that is obsessed. - Jeff Kempf, Dallas, TX

I absoultey love this song - totally obsessed with it! I can't sleep at night cause I'm going over the lyrics in my head lol and when I'm in class it's in my head lol and even at work but I love it, it's a great song and very obsessive in my mind. Mariah did great with this song hata's be hating and plays keep playing and Mariah keeps making number ones. - Danielle, Edinburg, TX

This single is so SICK! I can't get enough of it. I have it on repeat all day! I must definitely say that this will be one of my TOP 5 Mariah Songs of all time! I don't see how one can't get obsessed over OBSESSED! - Gabriel Valles, El Paso, TX

Upon first listen, I must admit I was a bit disappointed, simply because from all the hype I thought the song would be more uptempo, but with a few more listens I just got obsessed with "Obsessed." The opening line is classic, "I was like, why are you so obsessed with me?" Mean Girls is my all time fav movie and me and my friends are always quoting it, so that was like an OMG moment. Just the lyrics in general are so witty, "He's all up in my George Foreman" - another OMG moment. Seriously it's a great song, and people need to give Mimi more credit for her writing abilities. - Ruben Martini, El Paso, TX

So I've been listening to Obsessed in the car, shower, at work... right now! I love this track! It's very urban, but it's hot tamale! I can't get enough of it. This sure is a stone groove smash hit! "Ur a mom and pops, I'm a corporation..." Genius! - Cezar Aldaz, El Paso, TX

"Obsessed" is very much a diss record. It starts with 'I was like, "Why are you so obsessed with me?" a quote from "Mean Girls" and from then on it is one diss after another. She keeps her world famous whistle and high notes to a minimum, and decidedly uses autotune and with good reason. Listeners are able to focus more on the words she is singing about, rather than how she is singing the words. "Obsessed" is an unforgettable song. Once you hear the song, the lyrics remain on your mind long after the song has ended. It's the perfect summer record, and a strong contender for the number one spot on the Hot 100 Billboard charts. - Tina, Houston, TX

Love the new hit! Mc is sharp with her words, but keeps it classy! This teaches everyone not to mess with THE DIVA, and her MAN! - Justin Pope, Houston, TX

I absolutely love it! Very catchy beat with great in your face lyrics! I think it's going to be a hit, especially if radio gives it a chance! Go Mariah Go! You sure know how to stay relevant and go with the current music trends! - Bryan E. Taft, Houston, TX

I LOVE THE FRIGGIN SONG! When is the single coming out? - Eliel, Lake Jackson, TX

I am utterly obsessed with "Obsessed" (to say the least)! I can't seem to get enough of this song! It's super catchy, the beat is amazing (unlike any other Mariah Carey song), and the lyrics are hardcore. Whoever this song is aimed towards, it is definitely a slap in the face. The song is the perfect summer party record and I can't wait to hear it up in the club and definitely cannot wait until it gets to #1! I play this song everywhere and can't stop singing it or humming the tune. It's amazing, Mariah! I love it! - Aaron Arevalo, San Antonio, TX

I think "Obsessed" is a brialliant masterpiece by Mariah & producers. The so-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh gets in your head! It's a catchy tune, and she shows that she can be a sassy diva and talk smack back. She's not going to be SHADY and say who she talks about. There's a SLIM chance she will admit who she was talking about. She says enough with this great song! So don't mess with Mimi! I see this song going far. It's gonna be the best summer 2009 hit! - Mark Hurlock, San Antonio, TX

I love the song! It is beyond hot, I mean fiyah lol I'm glad that MC is giving Eminem a piece of his own medicine, but 100 times better. She didn't have to do it by cursing or even saying his name. She did it classy without breaking a sweat! I love the beat and it's really catchy. I am definitely obsessed with this song. I've listened to it every minute since it premiered on the radio. I'm sure this will be the #19:) Do yah thang Mimi! - Seymone, Norfolk, VA

MC's new hiT single "OBSESSED" is without a doubt HOT TAMALE! Nobody can deny she's already the BEST EVER but this time MC out did herself. From the lyrics to the auto tune, to the beats MC did it bIG! That's just MCC 4 ya! She is not only the queen of #1's but she also keeps it gully so as for Eminem he's done son...lol killin' it on da mic is how MC does it! #19 here she comes! My favorite part... "U's a momNpop ima corporation, I'm the press conference ur just a conversation!" LOVE IT LOVE IT! MCC is a S.G.S.H.W! - Kehyonha, Virginia Beach, VA

I think I have listened to the song 50 times since Tuesday! I absolutely love it. Now this definitely walks all over ‘Touch My Body’. I am especially feeling the lyrics. I think I’m gonna just leave it on repeat for the rest of the day. "Obsessed" is VERY radio friendly and has Tricky and The Dream written all over it. I’m impressed with the beat because it knocks hard and the wording packs swagger and punch. It’s definitely a major improvement from ‘Touch My Body’ which was helmed by the same team. It's the perfect response to Eminem because Mimi is not mad, she just seems amused that he has this obsession with her. I love it! I think she'll win over new fans with this one! "Obsessed" gets better with each listen! - Bridgette Copple, Sequim, WA

My name is Brandon and I am Mariah's number one Lamb from West Virginia! This song from the very first time I heard it I fell in love with the hard beat, and constant clever phrasing in the amazing way she writes her lyrics. This is the summer anthem of 2009 and her 19th #1 hit and will do whatever I can to make that happen! I love MC and could not be happier for her and she is truly my inspiration, and this song is about to blow up the charts! - Brandon, West Virginia

ARGENTINA
Obsessively fresh and hot! This is a strong song in terms of music and lyrics, for sure it'll climb high on the charts and it will make youR summer fun and hot so don't be surprised if you hear it on the streets on somebody's cell phone! - Pablo, Buenos Aires

AUSTRALIA
Mariah killed this song. It is definitely HOT and very addictive. It has fire to it and I'm feelin' the beat. This song is really radio friendly and sounds hot cruising in your car or hot as a ringtone! The language and lyrics is what shocked me. They are very powerful and emotive, the way in which she has used them is direct and straight to the point! Mariah owns the charts with this one! - Michael, Sydney

I have had the song playing from MariahCarey.com on loop for the past three days. All day literally! The song is fantastic, has a great beat and is very catchy. I predict massive hit when it is released! - Vasko, Sydney

BELGIUM
I LOVE IT! S.G.S.H.W! :-) Probably her #19! It's very different from all we know but "it's so her"! I love everything about this song (lyrics, auto-tune choice, etc.)! I'm definitely obsessed with "Obsessed"! I can't wait to hear the whole album! MC is the best and she proved it one more time with this amazing song! This first single is more than great! Now, imagine what is to come with "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel"! ;-) - Arnaud

BRAZIL
I loved "Obsessed." Mariah mixed the swing of Touch my Body with much better vocals and lyrics. There is the this revengeful feeling but she doesn't really sound angry and it's rather provocative than offensive. The song is gonna be a hit for sure! - Rodrigo Oliveira, Serra, Espírito Santo

"Obsessed" brings a new Mariah. It's frightening how Mariah reinvents herself. The song makes me recall "Honey" when she gave a new face to R&B music. It's a triumphant return and a wonderful "shut up" on the repressed Eminem. The chorus is glued in the mind like a chewing gum. - Guilherme, Rio de Janeiro

"Obsessed" is a cool song with a nice melody and sounds like will reach a lot of people that aren’t Mariah’s big fans just like "Touch My Body" did. Sometimes I think Mariah shouldn’t dedicate such nice songs to certain people like in "Side Effects" and now with "Obsessed." Oh well, she probably knows what she's doing. - Flavio Fernandes, Sao Paulo

I just love it! It's different, it's fun. We can even sing to someone that is really obsessed for real... or just send the song and without saying a word the person realise that he is not a press conference. Mariah is in her best time and it's great to see this vibe from her. - Paulo Campos, Curitiba

Like she said in her song "Clown" "Who's gonna care when the novelty is over?" She is on the road for almost 20 years... and nobody better than Mimi to write a clever song dedicated to this guy that wants to sell records based on his personal hate. Thanks for releasing this HOT new single. I'm looking forward to seeing the video for "Obsessed." Let's go! - Fernando Carvalho, Porto Alegre

Old friends of Mariah can't be sad about that song. The new song don't bring Mariah huge vocal we were used to. What we see now is the ability of writing songs, of writing HIT songs. This isn't a song you sing alone and laugh of yourself trying to hit that notes but you'll see yourself dancing and dancing. You'll see yourself 'obsessed.' And - surprise - it's still Mariah we love in the background. - Vinicius

It was a litlle shocking at first. I thought it was too different, just like the first time I listened to "Breakdown." But like Breakdown (now one of my favorites songs EVER from Mariah), after listening to it a few times, I was totally addicted to it. Can't stop listening! It's funny, it's smart, it's catchy. What can I say? It's simply the genius of Mariah! The "mom and pop" boy can't compete with that. Sorry for him! - Vanessa Almeida, Brasilia

BRUNEI
Unlike the first time I heard "Touch My Body," I was in love with "Obsessed" the second I heard the beat of it. The lyrics were acidic and spot-on, shooting them right through the heart. Literally, I cannot stop myself from listening to it every minute. This will truly be a HUGE CLASSIC and certainly her 19th number ONE! - Deeny Yahya, Darussalam

I have to admit, my first impression when listening to the opening bars of "Obsessed" made my face squint! I predicted that Mariah’s lead single was going to be a club banger but this beat was just SAVAGE! Some parts of the "Bongo Drum" auto-tuned track reminded me of "Migrate" and "Blame It" and after getting all caught up in the witty lyrics and word play, well... I got hooked! And my head started bopping all through the song. Can't imagine how the music video is going to turn out! It's going to be a S.G.S.H.W 4 SURE! - Colin, Kuala Belait

BULGARIA
My name is Georgi Kisyov, I'm write this e-mail from Sofia, Bulgaria. I only want to say that Mariah is my favourite singer over the past 15 years. I love the "OLD" Mariah, but I adore the "NEW" Mimi. "Obsessed" is incredible song. Go Mariah, Bulgaria loves you! - Georgi Kisyov, Sofia

CANADA
If I'm going to be honest, at first I didn't really like it. It wasn't until the third time I listened to "Obsessed" that I was truly enamored by it. It is lyrical genius backed up by a blazin' hot arrangement. It's not your typical MC song, it kind of strays away from her usually formula, and man did it pay off. The lyrics are quick and to the point with witty wording like "You a Mom and Pop, I'm a Corporation." It's easy and fun to sing along once you get the wording right, and I believe it will be this summer's hottest record. There is however only thing that I would change, and it's the subtle Auto-Tune [robotic] sound. I think its a little unnecessary but it adds some attitude to the song, so I understand why it was used. So am I "Obsessed"? I'd say I am, I mean it did only take a day for it to get into my Ipods "Top 25 Most Played"...which starts at 147 plays. So call me Obsessed or call me crazy whatever floats your boat, because either way this song is most definitely a "Stone Groove Smash Hit Wonder"! JT, Ontario

First of all, I would like to say that I LOVE MARIAH CAREY! <3 and next I would like to say that Eminem has no right making up stuff and constantly saying mean things about MC...further more I have written out a quick little freestyle retaliation to Eminem's "Bagpipes from Baghdad" and it goes like this: Ooh Boi, Y U So OBSESSED Wit ME??? -Mariah Carey ..why u tellin tales that aint true ppl askin stuff like wut it do? all U say is things that R untrue i just dont know like how could u?? Turn and say shit bout Mariah knowin all along that u is a liar didn't mama tell U not 2 play with Fire ;) will this really get U what u desire?? No! Ooh oh oh - Brandon, Toronto, Ontario

At first I was hoping for a pop type tune but the more I listen to it the more I like it. Love who it's about.. Go Mariah for punching back! It's a good track that will be easily remixed for a great dance track too. Hopefully she can get together with David Morales and Peter Rauhofer for some more "Say Somethin'" and "We Belong Together" like killer remixes. - Rob, Toronto, Ontario

I love the new song! I emailed it to all my friends. I'm very excited to hear the rest of the album. I'm sure it's going to be great. I've been a huge fan of yours since I was five years old I hope you have another tour soon. Since "Obsessed" came out I can't stop listening to it. I know all the words to your song and it's only been two days! - Nordia Edmond, Calgary, Alberta

It starts off with a Mean Girls' quote, to me this is pure genius and from the hook to the chorus this song is packing serious heat! I would hate to be the one this song's about because delusional is a really good word to describe the whole affair! It's been out for two days and my ipod is at 99 plays and that number is sure to keep going up! It's def a hit from the only one out there who consistently keeps making them! LOVE IT!! - Benny, Vancouver, BC

"Obsessed" is exactly what "Obsessed" means, how some people can't get over relationships and continue to just talk, harass, and all those other things obsessed people do to the person their obsessed with! Mariah once again proves that she has class and will subtly deliver a message without ever pointing her finger and name a name. With clever lines such as "I'm a press conference you're a conversation," "will the real MC please step up," and my personal favorite "Can see through you like you're bathing in Windex." Mariah has clearly stepped up her game and confidence! She means business and this song = 19TH #1! Great job Mariah! We love you and the music you make! Why do you think we're Obsessed? - Philip Mundiyamkal, Montreal, Quebec

I love this song. It's a STONE GROOVE SMASH HIT WONDER (as Mariah would call it). The beat is great. It gives the song a different, more agressive flare on the older Mariah hits (example: Shake It Off). The lyrics are awesome. The metaphors in the song are used very strategically so that she's insulting the person this song is directed to without actually insulting them. This also helps her avoid vulgarity while still having the same impact. It's a song that any person who has had to put up with being untruthfully demeaned or ridiculed by an ex or a wannabe ex can relate to. If this song doesn't become Mimi's 19th #1 hit a lot of people are going to be very dissapointed, including me. - Ariel, Montreal, Quebec

I can honestly say this is the first initial single of hers that I haven't liked. Mariah has one of the best voices of all time and the auto-tune in this track drives me nuts. Why would you want to take a voice like hers and process it through a computer? That technology should be reserved for artists that can't hold a tune and need the help. The lyrics are also bothersome as this is now the second diss track she's done regarding Eminem and I wish she'd be above that and come with something stronger. Big thumbs down for me and it's painful to say that as I've been a fan from day one. Hopefully the album holds much better content. - Shaun, Vancouver, BC

CHILE
I've been a fan of Mariah's since 1990 and I don't recall such big buzz and excitement over a lead single since "Heartbreaker." "Obsessed" is incredibly catchy. All you need is a second listen and you're hooked! Lyrics, musical arrangement and vocals are absolutely addictive. Count ME among the officially obsessed! Javier, Concepcion

I've listened to the new Mariah single on the Internet. I listened to it once, twice... and I did it over and over again. I could´t stop to enjoy this song. It is one of the best songs of Mariah. From the beginning you can feel all the energy in the music: keyboards, electronic sounds and a voice helped by synthesizers. Mariah sounds as strong as always. Her voice is still powerful, which can be checked in all verses of the song. And as usual, the splendid super-high-notes are still present at the end. The lyric is direct, unambiguous. She says what she wants to say. And the best thing is this: Mimi does it with absolute dignity. Word after word, the type of woman that she has always been: a woman that nobody can slander including all kind of white-rap's singers with a huge ego and a little shame (no names here!).- Rodrigo Z., Santiago

CHINA
I really felt so shocked when hearing Mariah's new song. Its style is different from her previous songs at all.Her change makes me feel good. And although the lyrics of the song is to fight back someone,it can let us know more about Mariah's feeling, that's great. And I feel that she's so frank,I especially appreciate her character like this. - Yingqi Huang, Hunan Province

I think "Obsessed" is quite different from any other songs of Mimi. This song is so magic. At the first time, I didn't love it but after I listened it twice, I falled in love with it! Soooo amazing! And I'm a chinese fan, I hope Mimi will come to China! - Vin Koo, Zhejiang

Hello. I'm a fan from China. I like this new single "Obsessed" so much! Mariah always shows us a diversity of her voice. From "Obsessed," I finally find that she can also sing like this. So exciting. So excellent. So Mariah. So obsessing! Mariah, I wanna tell you that there are a huge number of fans lovin' you here in China. We are expecting your concert here. "Obsessed" is very likely to be your 19th #1 hit! God bless you. - Joe, Chongqing

It amazed me the first time for the fresh beats, arrangements and vocals. I think obsessed is song of a very very "personal" indie taste with strong emotions, or some inogrance, I mean very personal feelings, may be not firstly aiming to be kind of a huge pop easily followed or something. I hope Mariah will continue to create songs with more personal feelings and beautiful melody arrangement. May be some indie pop taste with unique mariah's voice?:) Oh, by the way, I hear some pitch like ER,ER,ER,ER,ER,ER in Obsessed? Right? Well, what a coincidence! In Chinese, there is a character pronounced just the same sound like ER that means "sick." If Chinese people say someone is sick, he may say, "you are ER," haha. It's quite brilliant lyrics or mariah know Chinese words? Haha. Good luck and wish a big success to Imperfect Angel! - Rogiee, Haribn, Heilongjiang Province

CURACAO
Wow! Smashing Blazin'-hot new single. We have been waiting for almost 2 months now. And it was worth the wait. On behalf of all MC fans here in Curacao, we love you! "Obsessed" has already been requested to be the BEST NEW SMASH here in Curacao. Everybody has been calling in at the radio stations to request the new song. It has been playing on and on and on again on the radio. Thnx for the new SUMMER HIT! - Jonathan Allee, Willemstad

I'm a 100% obsessed with "Obsessed"! Love the beat, the auto-tune, the lyrics and the new and reformed ATTITUDE!!! 4real 4real. Mariah Carey definitely played some defense. The truth is on the table haters! To whom ever this song is directed: 'Can't come back from that one' NO WAY! :D "Obsessed" is hands down another #1 in my book. - Iman Augusta, Willemstad

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Obsessed has been increasingly playing in my head over and over again. I don't think I'm obsessed with the song, I only listen to it "in two ocassions: that's day and night..." just while I'm waking up, taking a shower, dressing up, on my way to work, at office, working out at the gym, making dinner and later when I'm going to sleep, is that obsession? Is it too much? I don't think so. Am I obsessed? well... kinda, haha! - Alejandro, Santo Domingo

EL SALVADOR
This is a great R&B and Hip Hop smash hit but still think that there can be some things fixed like, there is a constant repetition with the chorus, and think it is something that makes the song a litle bit repetitive, and can get someone tired of the same lyric during the song. The production of the song it is completely great. I also love the adlibs at the end. And just to close with congratulating Mariah and everybody else, cuz this is such a great song with some great lyrics, that make reference not only to Eminem but to everybody else who can identify with the song (as a Mariah style kinda song) and the lyrics. So it is such a great song. - Angel Martell, San Salvador

EGYPT
I was kind of expecting another "Touch My Body" but actually this turned out to be way better than my expectations, regarding the lyrics mostly. I think that's the key for our obsession about that song! Parts like "You're a mom and pop and I'm a corporation" makes you jump from your seat and go like "in ya face" lol! I think she managed to strike back but in a classy light way! About the vocals, I was dissapointed that MC resolved to auto-tuning which completely alters her voice, makes it unrealistic but at the same time I understand the need for change and the need for something that could be summer radio material and it actually fits the lyrics of the song! Anyways, congrats Mimi and hardluck for you slim shady! - Shady, Cairo

Absolutely obsessed! My iTunes play count is 247! It's one of the BEST first singles she ever released! Can't wait for the album! U ROCK MC! - Ronzy, Cairo

FIJI ISLANDS
I like this song as some people are relating this to Em. If it true then I am happy that our MC had put him where he belonged. Mariah is a smart artist and instead of mentioning a name of an attacker she twists it around. Whoever is she relating this song to will know that he is delusional. This song is dedicated to all the lame and liars and also fun beat for the summer and her songs always carry me forward. Lots of love from Fiji Islands.- Vili Naulivou

FRANCE
It's maybe dumb to say this, but it's true, I'm obsessed with this song! I can't stop listening to it over and over again. I was disappointed because I couldn't have the chance to hear it first when it was played on B96 due to my work, but as I came back from work the next day my local radio played it and I was just fooling around as a sign of happiness (I nearly made an accident cause I was driving !) I felt in love immediately with it. Great beat, great lyrics, great song. So MC. I'm so looking forward to the whole album! Very excited. - Kevin

At first I was confused with "Obsessed" as it's so not what you expect from someone like Mariah. After listening to it a couple of times - aka more than 150 times according to my iTunes library - I'm definitely addicted to it and I think I'm in love with "Obsessed." We have Mariah's next #1 for sure!" - Alex'

I just listened to Obsessed. The song is just so exciting. She's perfect. It's a different style but so Mariah. - Celine, Cannes

GERMANY
I love "Obsessed." I heard first on B96 online when it was world premiere. Love it! I keep on listening it on mariahcarey.com. There are so many clips also on youtube already. Can't wait to have this song. It is very cool, very enjoyable, very strong lyric. I love the way mariah pick the words. I don't get bored listening this song .. love it! It will be her 19th #1 hit! - Jenry, Cochem, Rhineland Pfalz

I am so pleased with this song. Mariah finally is back with a hit. In this, she shows how emancipated she truly is and again proves that she is THE VOICE. I am obsessed with it:) - J. Suedan

GRENADA, WEST INDIES
The moment I heard it, I fell in love with it and the chorus is so dissing and catchy. I am 'obsessed' with "Obsessed." It's really obsessing - there isn't a more beautiful way for one to express themselves through the art of music. I recorded it so I can have it on my cell phone and mp3. I listen to it as I get up, while showering, eating, on my way to school. I even sing it to myself during examination time. I listen to it as soon as I return home from school. I even realized that while sleeping I was singing it in my sleep. My friends shake their heads at me when I sing the song over and over to myself. While sleeping, dreaming that I was at my own concert singing my heart away. I sang a couple of lines my little sister has even learned the line that says, "Seeing right through you like you're bathing in Windex." I must say that this song I have listened to it more than when "Touch My Body" came out. I have never in my life have been so entranced into a song like that. It really is a deep song and I really love it. I am so anxious for the day the album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" to arrive. And I am presently listening to it. LOL! - Astra Ferguson

GUATEMALA
This is the best lead into summer for Mariah. It's the smartest way for anyone who has ever met someone who is out of control, to get back at them. The vocals are simply easy to follow, hear, and it gets back to a clear defined voice which was first what drew me to Mariah. I can already tell that with this first single will come an entire summer of Mariah which will keep us dancing, laughing, and falling in love! MC doesn't disappoint! - Elvis Rivera, Guatemala City

HONG KONG
I'm obsessed with "Obsessed" and I'm playing it non-stop, 24/7! - Bernard

I believe this song revealed another side of Mimi -- cool yet a little bit feisty (and of course I love that <3). Her voice in this song sounds sexy and great. And the song is just well polished. Mariah is so talented. I'm pretty sure that "Obsessed" is gonna be Mimi's 19th #1, and I'll keep praying for it till it really comes true! - Tim Chung

I stayed up hoping to catch the premiere of "Obsessed" on the online radio. But after an hour there was still nothing so I went to bed. The next day I knew I HAD to check it out even tho' I was at work. I took the risk of getting fired, plugged in my earphones at the reception and started listening to the tune. You can tell right away that it's dedicated to "the clown." No names mentioned but we know who it is. MC always has class even when she disses someone (unlike "the clown" who has to mention every name possible to get the attention). I like the song personally, obviously it's very catchy and her voice sounds great in it. It's another no. 1 debut fo' sure! - Manda Wong

INDONESIA
From the first, I like to hear Mariah's saying, "I was like, why you so obsessed with me?". Her middle register voice really sexy throughout the song without trying to push her signature high note. The music is catchy, fresh and can't stop lingering in my mind. I just can't stop to sing myself with that fresh tune of her. It surely another potential smash hit to be her 19th #1. The lyric itself is very smart and brilliant, comparing to the song, "Clown." She didn't have to throw a "f" word, but the lyric has told much itself, such as: It must be a weed, Napoleon complex, bathing in Windex, you a conversation. I love the way she is responding in a very dignified and witty words. Another formula from MCC, strong and smart lyrics wrapped with a catchy tune. - Pieter

I'm totally obsessed with this song, even I ain't gonna stop it played on my playlist. I named "Obsessed" as "the hottest track for the hottest summer" because it's totally different from her previous single, "I'll Be Loving U Long Time" which also the great one for summer last year. If IBLULT is the hot track for lovely couple, then "Obsessed" is really a hot track for those women who have been feeling tripped by anybody, specifically guys. Well, ladies! It's time to play them back. "Obsessed" is a revenge which is capable of empowering women from sorrow made by men. This single gotta be Mariah's 19th #1 single! Go Mariah! - Ersan Gusdianto

Hi Mariah Carey! You're my hero, you're like an angel for me... for "Obsessed," girl you make it so on, too cool. Can you imagine, I'm from Indonesia, thousands miles from yours, and I hear the song only by streaming B96 at 2-3am. "obsessed" is great and will be your next masterpiece. Go my girl! Go MC "the voice." - Christovel Ramot

IRAN
I think when someone rant you and you just say nothing you make him useless. But when someone rant you and you do the same you make yourself little. And I think what we expect about rap is a rant! But R&B is different. What we expect about mariah is just like past. And what we exept about eminem is... all I try to say is that Mariah greater than do this to start fight with Eminem. - Iman Zoghi

IRAQ
I'm completely obsessed with Obsessed! This is the new Mariah Carey I was waiting for - it's so nowadays and brand new song. The lyrics are kinda strong and hot tamale, the beat is like never heard before from Mariah Carey. And basically I was shocked by the song as I heard it, but then I kept listening to it over and over again, and now I think it's perfect. I wish all the success to Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and I hope it's all two-thousands-and-now brilliant records that would make music history. - Thamir

IRELAND
It's everything I wanted to hear. It's lyrically amazing. So catchy, very upbeat and just what was needed. It's as good as anything out at the moment. Brilliant production. The record is blazin' hot and so fetch. Mariah is a legend and this song shows how versatile she has been over her entire career. 19th #1 for sure! - Barry, Dublin

Finally, The wait is over. At 8.00pm Belfast GMT time "Obsessed" premiered, I can say that I had never been more excited in my life. Going to MariahDaily and clicking the link for B96, I waited patiently for "Obsessed" to play. From the opening line "I'm like 'Why are you so Obsessed with me?'" I knew this was going to be great. When the beat started and the So oh oh's started I instantly thought of "19th #1" and there is no doubt that it is destined to be MC's 19th #1. To show how obsessed I've become, "Obsessed" is in my Top 5 played songs on iTunes (I got it off Youtube via MediaConverter) and I know all the words. Overall "Obsessed" was a good way of starting off Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which many believe to be an instant summer hit. Take that Marshall! - Patrick, Belfast

ISRAEL
It's impressive how sharp and full of attitude Mariah has become with her lyrics over the years. The tune is one of the cleverest, wittiest songs she has ever written. The production is up to date and richer than her previous collaborations with The Dream. Yet her trademark belting in the climax seems too covered up and drowned out under the backing track. I also believe that a vocalist of Mariah's caliber shouldn't be using Auto-Tune under any circumstances. Her talent is too big and her voice too distinct to be manipulated by this obnoxious trick. All in all, a different and interesting new side of MC and at the same time a natural progression of her artistic evolution. - Tzachi, Haifa

I was so excited to hear Mariah's new song when it premiered that I made sure that I wasn't working that day and I tuned in to B96 very early just to hear it first! Mariah never dissapoints me and OBSESSED is in my top 4 of my fav first single choice (Vision of Love, Honey & Touch My Body are the rest). It's fresh and different and so relevant to today's music but better 'cause MC voice's on it! And that hook that you know it's the best song on the radio right now. - Tomer, Beer Sheva

I remember the very first time I heard Mariah, that was back in 1993, I was like 7, I knew something there is not normal and that singer has a unique magic. Since that day Mariah always surprises me! I think the new song is very special, I love the lyrics and the beat, the vocal are good as well. I hope Mariah's new album will give us some unforgettable hits like the last AMAZING album. - Eran, Beer Sheva

ITALY
Hi from Italy! Am I already obsessed? The answer is absolutely YES! I hear it over and over and over! I find the song real hot and trendy; cool sound (R'n'B - Hip Hop perfectly mixed) and even though Mariah sings in a lower register, her voice creates always something different. I think that many people will like this song, Mimi fans and not. The best way to answer Eminem...Anyway, MIMI is back and this is what really counts! - Alessio, Florence

I love this song! It's true: it's not a real "Mariah style" song, but the sound it's really obsessive! I absolutely love the lyrics, especially: "You a mom and pop, I'm a corporation, I'm the press conference, you a conversation." I hope this will be next #1 for Mariah! - Andrea, Brescia

I love the song of Mimi because it is original, sexy and I hope it will loved by Italian fans. - Lee Ryan, Naples

JAPAN
If I’m asked why Mariah is the best selling foreign artist in Japan of all time, one of many reasons I can say is that she has released a vital lead single for every million-copy-selling album. “Dreamlover” for Music Box, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” for Merry Christmas, “Fantasy” for Daydream, and “Honey” for Butterfly. I think it’s true not only in Japan but also in the US and around the world because her 18 #1 hits on Billboard Hot 100 obviously depended on the leading singles from her albums. “Obsessed” could not be an exception. On hearing the very first ‘So oh oh oh oh’ part of it, I was completely struck with the incomparable capacity of her ideas that let us see her trying to change and break out a new stream. She always knows the best way to be back to the top, so this time she chose it and made it blaze. I’m absolutely confident it’ll be her 19th #1 single and get rid of any obstacles trying to stop her from going beyond the Beatles. - Akiyoshi

JORDAN
Since its release, "Obsessed" has been on a rerun on my iPod! Play count until now, 76 times! With each listen, my obsession increases. I just can't get that hook outta my head! - Karim Masannat, Amman

KUWAIT
Totally obsessed with her and her new song! I don’t blame Eminem 'cause he is the nerd in the song he is the one who obsessed with her in a wrong way that I don't like it. The most wonderful part that I like in the song is "Finally found a girl that you couldn't impress, Last man on the earth still couldn't hit this. You're delusional, you're delusional" it’s an amazing part. It’s very strong hot clear song - Mohammed AL Azmi, Downtown Kuwait City

MALAYSIA
Hello everyone. I never felt so excited like this when I listen to Mariah song. Smooth from the inside and certainly going to be the greatest hit ever. The lyric tells everything. Sincere and meaningful. Mariah still Mariah. The element still there but fresh and energetic. Strong melody. Something special about the song, she makes people believe that we are obsessed about her! - Hadiaqasha, Kuala Lumpur

THE NETHERLANDS
I love the track! Everyone who wanted "Migrate" to be a single will love it too. I think Mariah will earn her 19th US number one with this single. Also great that there is not chosen for a "safe" ballad, it's a good thing that (again) Mariah shows she can do so much more than that. Hope the single will have a soon release in the Netherlands too, can't wait! - Ben

NEW ZEALAND
It's not the song I did expect to be released as number 1 off her new album. When I first heard it, I didn't get goosebumps like I usualy do with her music. It took a couple more listens to actually be able to relate to it. After about 3 listens, I was playing it on my laptop over and over and over again. I stayed up until 3 with it on low volume. I just didn't want to part ways with it. Then when I heard the remix, I got even more into the original. Now, I get a real good feeling when listening to "Obsessed." However, I do hope the next single is a ballad, not that I won't buy the album or anything if it's not. But I've been waiting for a ballad from Mimi for a very long time! Overall, I love it! And I'm definitely NOT a hater! lol. - Calvin Singleton, Northland

I like it! It's pretty catchy, and love the melody, and lyrics is pretty good too. But it does sound a little similar to "Migrate." I give it 4 out of 5. - John

PARAGUAY
Some people call it 'comeback.' Her last #1 "Touch My Body" was 14 months ago, so I don’t know about comeback, but "Obsessed" is definitely one Summer Jam! People say it will become Mariah's 19th #1, getting closer to The Beatles and surpassing even more. "Obsessed" is Mariah's classy answer to "Bagpipes" - it's clear and spicy. - Diego Luis Avila, Asuncion

PERU
Mariah is simply the best. "Obsessed" is such an amazing song that definitely will be #1, it has everything, lyrics, rhythm, all. I think Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will be the best album of the year and will be one of the best selling albums of all time. I can't wait, I want to buy it now. And Mariah, you're the best singer of all time, your music is simply the best, I can't live without your music. Mariah, you are already part of my live. Mariah = the best. A Peruvian fan of Mariah. - Diego, Lima

PHILIPPINES
"Obsessed" is kind of "Side Effects" in terms of emotion of Mariah but the chorus is slower than the rap chorus. She tells the story of her experience in the guy that's so obsessed with her. She expresses her feelings by singing and you easily feel it. I'm so excited for Mariah's new album, she keeps on making records, she is a living legend, "THE QUEEN OF ALL DIVAS." Mariah is going to spread her wings and ready to fly to the top of the charts again! - Angelo Avelino

OMG! On the very first day I listened to it, I can't resist to leave my MP3 to do some chores. It's like my mom is shouting at me all the time, until now I still have my MP3 on my ears. It's kinda weird cause sometimes I sing with the lyrics: "Why are you so obsessed with me/ Boy I wanna know/ Lying that you're sexing me/ When everybody knows/ It's clear that you're upset with me." And the thing is I'm in the crowd (I didn't know that people can hear me). I just laugh at it. I love the new song! By the way I am starting to save my money cause I want to grab a copy of "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel." I hope that she will tour next year. I love you Mariah Carey Cannon! Thank you for always inspiring me here - Vanjovi S. Mose

There are millions of Mariah Carey fans here in my country. We almost grew up listening to her music. Personally, I would like to congratulate Mariah for having her new album and the success of "Obsessed" premiere. The song is catchy, voice is so clear and everyone can relate to it. - Ron Raymundo

For a Mariah record, this is a surprise. Starting with a spoken line: "I was like, 'why are you so obsessed with me?', she moves on to sing on top of shard keyboards and heart-stomping bass, almost trance-dance territory, but the mid-tempo feist of the production makes it sound even more of rock/alternative, yet her direct delivery of the lines keep it soulfully intact. The vocal arrangement is very clear and still Mariah's, though tamed and simpler. The auto-tune and layering were mixed to make her sound modern and current, to catch a bigger market. She made sure she can make them listen to the words. All in all, this is like Side Effects meets Migrate but lyrically better, if not musically. This is a strong single. - David, Zamboanga City

I love the song, and I'm obsessed with it! 2 thumbs up for the song. Can't wait for the new album it's the best birthday gift to me. Can't wait to see her performing on stage again. - Renson "Yui" Villanueva, Pasig City

POLAND
She has done it again. The beat and the vocals are hot, the lyrics are clever! It's catchy and addictive. I'm offically obsessed with "Obsessed." Can't wait for the new album! Keep on doing your thing, love ya much. - Marcin, Katowice

I'm definitely obsessed with MC's new record! I freakin' love it. It's kind of different than other Mariah Carey songs. Sure it's a S.G.S.H.W. Can't wait for the new cd! Mimi, you did it again! - Monika, Wroclaw

PORTUGAL
Obsessed is a hell of a catchy song. It leaves us wanting more and more. It's infectious. The beat is insane, the "so oh oh oh" parts are addictive, the dark mood is intriguing and the lyrics are sharp. Obsessive, indeed. The perfect introduction for the Memoirs that are to come. - Luis, Lisbon

SERBIA
"OBSESSED" is a real club banger. So perfect for the summer. The thing that I like about the song are fierce lyrics and the fact that is not formulaic mid-tempo, typical for Mariah. With the new era, new life, Mariah is hungry for the new sound and so ahead of the time. "She is the 2008. And they are 2000 and late." Go girl! - Bojan, Belgrade

SINGAPORE
"Obsessed" features a feisty Mariah who hurls some fatal punches at, everyone conveniently assumes, Eminem. Boasting a spine tingling energy juxtaposed with witty lyrics and a hypnotic rhythm, it won't be long before the world becomes obsessed with this surefire hit. Mariah fans will surely remember "Clown," a ditty from her 2002 album "Charmbracelet" which she had publicly dissed Eminem. With "Obsessed," Mariah returns and emerged victorious in her long-standing feud with Eminem. - Christian Chon Hang Chung, Singapore

I absolutely adore MC's newest single! I'm such a big fan that I even stayed up to hear it premiere live on B96.com. Singapore's something like 12 hours later than Eastern Time so by the time it played for the first time ever ever, it was 4am over here! I absolutely love the way she wrote the song. She demonstrates all class and no crass... no need to resort to name-calling and insults like a certain Mr. E! Snappy and yet so glamorous! Beautiful beats and glorious voice... as if we'd expect anything less from her! So, oh, oh, oh, why you so obsessed with me! Definitely a S.G.S.H.W! - Kelvin Chan

SOUTH AFRICA
It took 3/4 listens to grow on me, then I couldn't get it out of my head. Interestingly, I played it for a friend who's a semi-hater yesterday, and he said afterwards, "That is the first Mariah single I've heard that I like immediately. I'm gonna have to buy that track." Which was very interesting for me... if that reaction is replicated, she should certainly have her #19. Personally, I think the song is clever, sassy and fun! - Sieraaj Ahmed, Cape Town

I absolutely love Obsessed. The lyrics are clever, "Got you all fired up with your Napoleon complex, Seeing right through you like you're bathing in Windex" and the melody and sound is crazy infectious. Big up to Mariah, The Dream & C. Tricky Stewart on this one. It's got #1 written all over it. This is a Stone Groove Smash for sure! Great song for the Winter (your Summer). I can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks on MOAIA!- Vinay, Johannesburg

Ok so I hear this song on YouTube for the first time and all I can say is how hectic my fascination with Mariah is, I was actually starting to think this song was about me in her opening line...ouch! Lol. I kept playing in all day Tuesday evening right into the morning of Wednesday. Blasting this jam until my neighbours told me to shut! Lol. I'm totally obsessed with this new song. Mariah you've done it again. Love it, love you, love everything! :) I'm not delusional, ain't lying either. - Mitch Williams, Barrington Southwood

"Obsessed" stands out from the rest. Clearly a new Mariah than the last chart hit "Touch My Body." It would be a shame if this song did not go to number one. Here is to the single "Obsessed." Now the game starts all over again and old rivals come back with new albums, the game is fair, it is just and we'll see who conquer them all. "Obsessed" deserves a 9/10. I don't need to say more about the song as it states so clearly that it will hit number one soon! - Lee Siebritz

SOUTH KOREA
The time has come for MiMi to d.i.s.s. M&M. This song is like the final warning to lunatic Eminem and all the haters out there trying to bring her down. Why can't they just leave her alone for God's sake? In the first 10 seconds of 'Obsessed,' I was like 'Is this who i think she is?' but when i heard the lyrics, it was definitely my festive lady. Mariah's already done this with 'Clown' and now she putting a nuclear bomb on him! I'm reeeeally obsessed with "Obsessed" and can't wait to see how Eminem reacts to this song:) Luv this song:) - Craig Jung, Seoul

MCC has done it YET AGAIN! And this time with her revengeful lyrics pointed at Eminem, she's really gotten to the point this time! I am so damn proud of her! I love, love, LOVE the twisted beat and the vocal arrangements! Ain't ever heard nothing this hot and I know I am going to be as OBSESSED with Memoirs as I am the single itself! HOTTNESS! I frikin love it! You know you are "Obsessed" when you keep the song on REPEAT daahling!! - Amber

SPAIN
Hi everybody I am a fan from Spain. I really love the new song "Obsessed"! I'm so pretty Obsessed, great song! I'm Obsessed on Mimi! Izaqui, Madrid

SWEDEN
"Obsessed" is a really strong word. And I don't think I am obsessed with the song I love it. But all Mariah Carey's song is good. Well it can happen I listen to it more then once. But I need to listen to Mariah Carey's songs cause they have a very comfortable coolness. And it makes you feel comfortable with yourself and with your dreams. I am very happy to be a fan of her. I respect her very much. I have never met her, but I'm cool with that. Thank you Mariah and for every song you have done. Keep up with the good work. - Cissi

When I heard her voice saying "And I was like, why are you so obsessed with me?" I started to laugh, because I clearly remembered that line from the movie Mean Girls, and I thought it was a cute little joke. And when the song started I didn't realize it then but my whole body was shaking to the beat. It was like a breath of fresh air that was flown in to my apartment. The song was like Migrate vs. Side Effects which is a few of the songs that I absolutely love from E=MC² :) And her voice was cool and a little bit nonchalant I think, like "whatever! this is it". But I felt a bit disappointed at the second chorus 'cause I didn't hear any gorgeous belting notes from MC, but that all was gone when she started to belt it up for me at the last chorus and I started to lose control at home :) And when they played the song twice I just went nuts and started to call my friends to tell them about the song :) None of my friends are really Mariah fans but they actually liked the song :) So that's my story about hearing Obsessed for the first time! And I can definitely say that I’m again officially obsessed with MC! - Daniel

SWITZERLAND
Mariah is simply the best; just amazing as always. I'm "obsessed by her song. The beat, the lyrics... everything. It's gonna be a New Stone Groove Smash Hit Wonder. Her answer towards Eminem is perfect; all in sweetness saying the right words without needing to use some vulgarity words like E. - Christelle Richard

And I was like, "That song will be just another one of my sweet obsessions!" - Angelo Zantua

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
I like the song, it's a good album track, but personally it's not good first single material. It will get the hype it needs to be successsful, which matters, but it should have been as sublte as "Clown." Obsessed is extremely well written as usual, but a more bouncy beat is needed to maintain a summer vibe. Can't wait for the 2nd single! - Warren

Wow! Just love that song "Obsessed." You're the bomb Mariah, I love you. The song is hot and I'm gonna help see it reach to number one on the charts. Love you and the song is super tamale! - Adrian Joseph

TUNISIA
I'm Obsessed to the point that I listened to the song more than 150 times only 18 June! An amazing, fabulous, great, terrific and wonderful song! And all that is not enough! Wow! I LOVED "OBSESSED" and I will allways LOVE you Mariah! You're the best! - Heni

UKRAINE
At first I wanna say that I’m huge Mariah fan. Am I obsessed? No, absolutely. Is it the worst Mariah's single? Not exactly, but it's really the worst Mariah's first single. The "song" is dull, really. Where is melody? Where are verses? Where are refrains? Seems like the "song" includes one looooooong bridge. And these sickening oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh's. Had Mariah forgotten that she is not Beyonce, Ciara or Keri Hilson? Had she forgotten that by the age of 30 she received pile of achievement awards? So why by the age of 40 she begins recording such a formulaic stuff? - Alexey Karzhaev

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
Okay first off, the Eminem diss. I find it absolutely GENIUS. It was definitely classier than what Eminem did. The lyrics were very clever though, "Im up in the A- youre so so lame and no on here even mentions your name" "You a mom and pop, Im a corporation, Im the press conference, you a conversation". Now to the song itself. The beat is great, I mean you can't go wrong with The Dream. The melody is great, it's very catchy. Some people might not be CRAZY about her use of Auto-tune but we know it's not to cover her voice up, I mean that's obvious. It just gives a certain feel to the song and I find that it fits the song perfectly. It might get a lil' hectic towards the end, I mean the belting is barely audible sometimes, and I can't even discern the whistle sometimes. But all in all, it's a great summer moment to kick the album off with. - Hatim Hanafi

"Obsessed" is definitely the song that the year 2009 was waiting for. From the opening Mean Girls-inspired line to the thumping beat to the witty lyrics and the catchy hook. Mariah couldn't kick off the new era with a better song. It's probably her most solid lead single yet, and the concept of the song is a new direction for Mariah herself. Last year, we've been waiting the whole year for "Migrate" to get released and it seems that Mariah is finally listening to us and giving us a treat of its kind. Well-done Mariah... you're certainly keeping us Oo-oo-obsessed! - Mazen

UNITED KINGDOM
The hot new track from Mimi: Obsessed shows her ability to integrate all the perfect elements into one single and this is the reason why she has sustained her career in the music industry for almost 20 years. I believe this will be her 19th Number One and will be played at everywhere you go throughout the summer. Obsessed is sending a message, not just to Eminem, but to anyone who believes they can get criticise and offend Mariah and believe that they’ll get away with it because “I’m a corporation, I’m the press conference, I’m a conversation”. Mariah is an institution and Obsessed paves the way for more smash hits to come from her new album: Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. 2009 is Mariah’s year. - Rob, Liverpool

I think hypnotic is definitely the best word to describe it. I was less than impressed on my first listen but this song grows on you like I could never have imagined. I can't believe how I'm now singing along to the Uh Uh Uh Oh bits. The autotune also has a positive effect which I can't quite put my finger on. What separates Mimi from her imitators (apart from her 18 #1s and her amazing vocal range) are her lyrics and how she can blend playful and edgy. Some of her lyrics are pure comedy and one of the reasons she has such a devoted fanbase is because you appreciate her lyrics all the more when you can understand her nature. I think Gucci Mane was brought in on the remix because some of the bigger names in HipHop didn't wanna get on the wrong side of the Clown. I love that MC had the guts to do this. I also love Gucci's line "Me and Mariah go back like Oscar Mayer," Gucci having his take on the pioneering Fantasy Remix that Mariah and ODB put together around 15 years ago. - Marc, London

I am obsessed with "Obsessed"! I seriously am in love with Mariah's new song, it is definitely going to be a MASSIVE HIT! I'm glad to hear Mariah is going to have some big ballads on the new album, so I'm more than happy to have an urban hit to jam to! 19th #1 FOR REAL! - Kieron, Kent

Mariah, I love the new single. I keep listening to it over and over again that's how much I love it and if it's about that fool Eeminem then u go girl cause if he ever thinks he can get with you then he most be delusional or he's losing his mind. - Crystal, London

Mariah's witty, thought provoking, scathing and fabulous response must have left Eminem reeling and licking his semi talented wounds, not to mention scoring her legions more fans for actually sticking up for herself! Let's be honest with ourselves, he does not have the intelligence as a performer to write such 'tongue and cheek' lyrics without getting personal to the individual he's writing about, something Mimi does so brilliantly! Personally I believe this could be our girl's 19th #1 in the US and will receive similar success to 'Honey' and 'Don't Forget About Us'. I cannot wait to see how it fairs and I urge all 'lambs' to buy the record when it's released to show Eminem he should think twice before he disses this bad-ass diva, and to also show him (and anyone else for that matter), she can bite back much more intensely if she needs too. That is of course if this is song is indeed a song of retaliation. Whether it is or not however, I think we have found our summer 2009 tune! - Drew

How obsessed am I? I guess as a huge fan, and on behalf of all fans, we've always been obsessed, and with Mariah's new single, I don't think we're ever going to stop!. Mariah's been around for some time now so you would think keeping things fresh and interesting would be hard?, not for Mariah!. Her new single is a pure summer jam, full of catchy one liner’s, and brilliant lyrics, the beat, the vocals, everything adds up to what should be Mariah's 19th Number 1. She never fails to impress and this song is just the beginning of another exciting Mariah era, which is going to take everyone by storm! - Benedict, London

Wow. I am completely OBSESSED with 'Obsessed'. What an amazing first single to put out. MC has done it again for sure! Although she doesn't tell us who this feisty single is aimed at, I think we can all assume that a certain rapper, who has a grudge against Mariah, will be left looking like a bit of a LOSER to be perfectly honest. This is definitely Mariah being herself and that's how she works best! "Lyin' that you're sexin' me" - you gotta love it ;) - Leanne

The best tracks are the one's that grow on us, but in order to do this; they also have to contain the charisma and hard hitting punch the first time that we hear them. This formula has been hit perfectly with Mariah's new "Obsessed" single. Mariah does it again: While she maintains her high standards and unique style she infuses a new vibe that simply amplifies further to how versatile she can be. Obsessed is like an anthem reminding us why she is who she is. Her clever lyrics leave us all to speculate about a message to Eminem, however they have been so well written so that we can enjoy them on a more general and personal basis too. Mariah's new single, I am sure, will be at the number 1 spot; making it her 19th top charter! She has already surpassed Elvis with her number one hits and is now on the way to taking over the Beatles. - Jiten Thakrar, Leicester

Im not obsessed... I'm addicted to Mariah's new song! The lyrical content is absolute genius and will have people talking for weeks. The vocal fits just right and the song has all the potential to be Mariah's 19th US #1! Another exellent song to add to the ever growing list. - Jason After being a MC fan all my life, I've only one word to describe the new song "Obsessed", I'm Obsessed With It! - Dan

Obsessed is not only musicaly "on it" but also very cleverly written. Who else could use the term "Napoleon Complex" in a song and make it work? It's a catchy RnB sound with catchy hooks that you'll be humming for weeks and a beat that will make the "girls shake their rumps and fellas get it from the back and pump." Mariah, this tune is a stone groove winner. All hail the queen! - Drew Leigh, Manchester

Well well well, Mariah Carey is well and truly back, and better than ever! The first single "Obsessed," comes from Mariah's highly anticipated album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," due August 25th, and this time round, Mariah goes straight for the point, responding to Eminem's diss track, "Bagpipes from Baghdad," where he claims to have had a secret affair with MC. The song boasts a heavy bass, and a sarcy chorus, showing Mariah's cheeky side, and she most certainly, does not fail to dissapoint her fans. This summer anthem will have radio stations all over playing this song, and her fans blasting it from their cell phones. Well done Mimi, you told it like it is. xoxo. - Rory

Most lambs would agree the week leading up to the world premiere of the song was one of the most excruciating and exciting weeks of their lives. So was it worth the wait? Oh yes. The beginning line: 'I was like, "why are you so obsessed with me?"' doesn't give an indication of what is to come; a bass heavy, mid tempo jam, with understated yet powerful vocals. Not powerful in the belting sense, more along the lines of a woman who is truly at the top of her game, telling it like it is from the top. Use of auto tune is used to great effect here; as has been highlighted by other fans, it was an effect she first dabbled with on the first song of E=MC2, 'Migrate'. It only adds to the over-all ambience of the song, show-casing to the subject of the lyrics that she is untouchable, and is protected and unreachable to him. The song is a first for Mariah in terms of style and contact. Any fans wanting something different certainly got it. The hypnotic rhythm and sing along lyrics culminate in the chanteuse trademark whistle, a reminder that although she hasn't used vocal hysterics or long acrobatic runs in the song, she still is and always be the greatest female artist of all time. - Anthony, Wales
