Michael Buble's Mariah Carey Cover Tops AC Chart
Posted by Jonny on Monday, 28-Nov-2011, 9:56PM EST
Michael Buble's cover of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" does what the original never did: it reaches No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart.
The remake bounds 10-1 in its third week on the AC tally, outperforming the No. 6 peak to which Carey's version climbed the week of Jan. 7, 1995. Just past Thanksgiving, Buble's version received airplay on 64 of the AC panel's 76 stations in the chart's tracking week, as the format makes its annual segue to a reliance on holiday music, a movement that intensified at the beginning of the 2000s.
Buble's slower take than Carey's jangly original "Christmas" marks his fourth AC No. 1, following "Home" (two weeks, 2005); "Everything" (three, 2007); and, "Haven't Met You Yet" (three, 2010).
(Carey, meanwhile, is charting on AC with a new version of "Christmas." Justin Bieber's new duet of the song with Carey, from his seasonal set "Under the Mistletoe," jumps 18-11 in its second week).
New Mariah Video To Premiere At Rockefeller Center
Posted by Jonny on Saturday, 26-Nov-2011, 12:57AM EST
Justin Bieber rocked around the Christmas tree with some special guests during a taping of "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" earlier this week. Busta Rhymes marched to the teen sensation's beat on "Drummer Boy," which they performed live for the first time. Biebs rapped his verse before throwing it to Bussa Bus, who put a new spin on the holiday classic. The camera phones came out when Usher hit the stage to duet with his protégé on "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)."
The annual Christmas special, which airs on November 30 at 8 p.m., will also feature the premiere of Justin's video with Mariah Carey for "All I Want for Christmas Is You."

Mariah's timeless classic Christmas song "All I Want For Christmas Is You" dominates the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart this week in three different forms: Her duet with Justin Bieber, Michael Buble's cover and the "Glee" cast's cover. See below from Billboard:
For those keeping score, there are now three albums in the top 10 that feature a cover of Mariah Carey's 1994 chestnut "All I Want For Christmas Is You," which she co-wrote with Walter Afanasieff. Both sets by Buble (No. 2) and Bieber (No. 5) boast the track, as does the "Glee" effort at No. 6. Can you hear Carey counting her Christmas cash?

Mariah on The Tom Joyner Morning Show
Posted by Jonny on Saturday, 19-Nov-2011, 4:39PM EST
Yesterday, Mariah called in to the Tom Joyner Morning Show to talk about life as a new mother, her love for Christmas and her new duet with John Legend on "When Christmas Comes." Here is a partial transcript of what she had to say:
Tom Joyner: Good morning once again, Mariah Carey! How are you, how's the family?
Mariah Carey: I'm good, we're all good, thank you, good morning! Good morning everybody!
TJ: Now let's get straight to it. Let's talk about this new music. This is Christmas music.
MC: Yes it is... I did a duet with one of my favorite artists out there, John Legend... We had sung together like maybe three years ago on the VH1- I think it was the VH1 Fashion Awards? And we did the cover of "Born Again"... I have this song called "When Christmas Comes" and James Poyser from the Roots and I had written it together, so I wanted to work with John and we got together. He's just such a cool person; he's really such a great musician and writer and stuff. So we got along really well.
TJ: So when did you do this new music?
MC: I wrote the song last year and we just did the duet like literally not even two weeks ago
TJ: So did the pregnancy strengthen your voice?
MC: I think it did but this morning it sounds like it didn't!
TJ: How has parenthood changed you and Nick?
MC: I think it's made us better, if anything.
TJ: Are you and Nick gonna do a duet?
MC: Me and Nick do a duet? We do a duet every day, it's called marriage!
TJ: But not a duet on the new Christmas CD?
MC: You know what, this is really, it's just kind of two songs that I'm putting out this year to get some excitment for next year, when we drop like a deluxe edition of my Christmas record. And that's why its kinda cool, because John has never done a Christmas album and he was into it for that reason. And that's why we both thought "Hey, lets do this and get people to hear it now and next year we'll have it on both of our albums."
TJ: I like it. Every year, someone comes with a new Christmas song. Few stick. And I think this is gonna be one that sticks.
MC: Thank you! We wanted like a classic moment, almost like a 70s type of a thing and that was the inspiration when I wrote the song with James Poyser from The Roots and we were just like "Let's make it as close to something from back in the day as we can," something that people can relate to and gather together and feel like a family type of situation, you know?
Mariah confirmed that "When Christmas Comes" will be released to iTunes on Monday, November 21. To hear the full interview, click here.

Mariah Carey Beams Across Europe

Not content with one Mariah Carey singing her Christmas classics this season? How about two -- or maybe five? The pop star gave a virtual performance simultaneously across five major European cities on Thursday (November 17) evening. On-lookers in Frankfurt to Krakow watched a life-sized hologram of the singer giving renditions of hits including "Oh Santa" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You."
The projection of the singer's body was joined on stage by four real-life dancers, who were unveiled to the crowds from a giant gift box. Filmed on a single fixed-camera in a New York Studio prior to the event, the Grammy-winning singer said the technology was a real eye-opener.
"For the fans it's something where they can feel more involved, they can feel like they're with you they're live cause regardless I'm singing to the fans everywhere in the world doing this you know I mean everybody where it's been broadcasted everybody through T-Mobile so -- I'm all about my fans and this was a way to bring everybody a bit closer."

Mariah's Twins in "Christmas" Music Video

Mariah Carey talked exclusively with Extra's AJ Calloway at her home, shooting "When Christmas Comes," her music video duet with John Legend -- which also features her 6-month old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
"'When Christmas Comes,' people need to hear the song; I think John Legend swung it home!" gushed Mariah. "I think the fact that the babies are in the video is great."
Calloway commented on how svelte Carey looked after losing 70 pounds on the Jenny Craig weight loss program. She smiled, saying her pregnancy was "tough... having that much weight, my bones were not used to it."
But she proudly proclaimed, "I have my clavicle back. I thought I had lost my bones forever. I couldn't find them."
The Mariah Carey/John Legend duet, "When Christmas Comes," is coming soon.

Randy Jackson To Manage Mariah's Career?
Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 16-Nov-2011, 8:01PM EST
Randy Jackson is adding an A-lister to his dawg pound. The "American Idol" judge is negotiating a deal to manage Mariah Carey's career, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The duo know each other from their Columbia Records days when Jackson was vice president of A&R during the 1990s and Carey was signed to the label from 1988 to 2001.
Over the years, Jackson has produced, co-written and appeared on many Carey recordings. He's also played bass for the superstar both in the studio and on the road. Among his Carey credits: Jackson wrote and produced two songs for her 2001 film, "Glitter." On her 2002 Island Def Jam debut "Charmbracelet," Jackson is listed as composer, producer and percussionist while on her 2005 smash "Emancipation of Mimi," he returned to play bass and also appears in the video to Carey's cover of Def Leppard's "Bringin' on the Heartbreak." Throughout her career, he has served as Carey's musical director and most recently, he produced her 2010 Christmas album, "Merry Christmas II You."
Carey, who gave birth to twins in April, was previously signed to Chris Lighty's Violator Entertainment, which represents such artists as 50 Cent, LL Cool J and Soulja Boy. In September, the company merged with Primary Wave, management home to Cee-Lo Green and Eric Benet.
Jackson is no stranger to the management game, having worked with funk-flavored rocker Nikka Costa, soul singer Van Hunt and North Carolina-based band Paper Tongues, who are signed to Universal Music-owned A&M/Octone Records. He's one of several notable musicians who also guide the careers of others. Back in the 1990s, when he was known as Puff Daddy, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs managed rapper Notorious B.I.G. More recently, he guided "Making the Band" winners Danity Kane and was reportedly working with Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross. Jay-Z, by virtue of running management company RocNation, has a hand in the careers of Rihanna and Willow Smith. Usher, in partnership with Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun, can also lay claim to some of the pop phenom's success.
On Nov. 2, Jackson was in full management mode as he accompanied Carey to film the music video for "All I Want For Christmas Is You," her duet with Bieber, which appears on his "Under the Mistletoe" album (out now). The nine-hour night shoot took place at Macy's Herald Square in New York City and, according to observers, Jackson stayed for the duration. A few days later, he was seen at Carey's label offices where he was taking meetings. Says a source: "He's very much in the mix."

Billboard: CAREY ON
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 11-Nov-2011, 6:44PM EST
Justin Bieber was born the year that Mariah Carey first released 'All I Want for Christmas Is You.' Now their duet of the song is on the Hot 100
With the help of an artist who was less than a year old when the song was originally released, Mariah Carey returns to the Billboard Hot 100 with an update of "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
Justin Bieber (born March 1, 1994) and Carey's duet of the song, parenthetically titled the "Superfestive!" version, arrives at No. 86 on the chart, as Bieber's seasonal set "Under the Mistletoe" becomes the first album by a male artist to launch at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The original "Christmas" reached No. 12 on Radio Songs and No. 6 on Adult Contemporary in the 1994 holiday season. (Chart rules at the time prevented the non-commercially-available single from appearing on the Hot 100 that year).
Last week in New York, Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber shot the forthcoming video for their new version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which Carey first made a solo smash in 1994.
With the bow, Carey notches her 44th Hot 100 hit. Her prior visit was likewise Yuletide-themed: "Oh Santa!" spent a week at No. 100 last holiday season. (Before that, "Up Out My Face," which marked the second Hot 100 appearance for guest Nicki Minaj, also tallied a lone week at the chart's anchor position).
Here is an updated count of the women with the most charted titles, and their career chart spans, in the Hot 100's 53-year history:
73, Aretha Franklin, 1961-98 56, Dionne Warwick, 1962-98 55, Madonna, 1983-2009 53, Connie Francis, 1958-69 48, Brenda Lee, 1959-73 44, Mariah Carey, 1990-2011 41, Barbra Streisand, 1964-97 40, Diana Ross, 1970-86 39, Mary J. Blige, 1992-2010 39, Whitney Houston, 1984-2009 39, Janet Jackson, 1982-2008 39, Taylor Swift, 2006-11 (Notably, the digital era has helped Swift score multiple Hot 100 entries with album cuts the weeks that her last two studio sets, "Fearless" (2008) and "Speak Now" (2010), have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. As she's due to arrive on next week's Hot 100 with multiple tracks from the forthcoming "Speak Now" re-issue, this list will likely appear in revised form in next week's "Weekly Notes" column).
"Christmas" has clearly become a modern holiday classic. In addition to Bieber and Carey's new duet, Michael Buble's take on the song, from his new album "Christmas," which ranks at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 after opening at No. 3 last week, is bubbling under the Adult Contemporary chart.
Last holiday season, Lady Antebellum sent its cover of "Christmas" to No. 38 on Country Songs; Newsboys' interpretation rose to No. 24 on Christian Songs; and, Big Time Rush's remake topped Kid Digital Songs. Carey's own 2010 re-recording of the carol peaked at No. 4 on Holiday Digital Songs last year.
Carey could soon impact Billboard charts with another holiday hit, a remix of "When Christmas Comes" (originally released last year on her holiday set "Merry Christmas II You") with John Legend.
"Coming soon, a legendary musical collabo. #WhenChristmasComes," Carey Tweeted Monday. "Me & the legendary John, soon to be topping your Christmas list! P.S. It's a SGSHW!"
(As Mariah Lambs know, SGSHW is shorthand for "stone groove smash hit wonder").

Mariah Covers Us

MARIAH CAREY: "HOW I LOST 30 POUNDS!" She's come a long way, baby! Mariah Carey tells Us how she got her body back after twins — in just three months By Ian Drew
MARIAH CAREY: "I'm just really glad to look like myself again!"
"Do my legs look good?" a beaming Mariah Carey asked as she posed for Us at NYC's Industria studios on November 4. Not that she needed reassurance. The first-time mom proudly showed off her toned gams and flat stomach — the hard-earned results of losing 30 pounds after giving birth on April 30 to twins Moroccan and Monroe (with husband Nick Cannon). Getting her body back once seemed to be a, well, sweet fantasy for the star. After finally conceiving (Carey took what she called "excruciatingly painful" regular progesterone shots, a hormone often prescribed to boost fertility, then continued the shots for 10 weeks afterward to reduce the risk of miscarriage), the singer developed gestational diabetes, suffered a double hernia and was eventually put on extended bed rest before delivering "Roc" and "Roe" via C-section at 35 weeks. "I gained an enormous amount of weight. I was scared I was never going to walk again!" the Grammy winner confesses. "After carrying two 6-pound babies around, I had to relearn how to do it."
And did she ever. Not only was the hitmaker able to strut to her songs "Shake It Off" and "Fly Like a Bird" at the Us shoot, she also slid into size-6 shorts. Her secret? A nutrition and workout plan from Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig). Starting with a 1,500-calorie-a-day menu and thrice-weekly workouts in July, Carey began losing one to two pounds a week. As her advisers monitored her progress on the plan's at-home delivery service with weekly consultations and weigh-ins, she decreased to 1,200 calories a day a month later. Now the brand's ambassador, Carey opens up to Us about reclaiming her svelte figure.
You look amazing! I feel incredible, but it was a long road! Being pregnant felt longer than it was. It was a huge blessing to be able to have the babies, but I felt trapped in my body because I couldn't move.
How much weight did you gain while pregnant? The last time weighed myself was 1998! But I will say that I gained a lot of water weight.
Was it nice to eat whatever you wanted? Truthfully, I wasn't that hungry because the babies were pressing on my stomach. But I was really into Big Gulps. Nick would always run to the store and get me icy, sugary drinks.
How did Nick feel about you gaining weight? He was there for me every step of the way. He's the most generous guy. When I was pregnant and still able to swim, Nick would buy me maternity bathing suits. But when they didn't fit, it was the worst!
When did you realize you wanted to lose weight? I have a picture from two days after I gave birth when our friend Reverend Al Sharpton came to bless the babies. I was so happy then that the babies had made it. But I looked at myself in the photo after and thought, Who on Earth is that? Mind you, I thought I looked good at the time!
When did you start your program? I had to wait more than six weeks after I had the babies! At the beginning, I was breast-feeding, so I actually had to eat more than I normally would. It was frustrating.
Tell Us about the diet. Was it tough at first? When I started, I got really strict with myself. Jenny and the American Heart Association, which I'm working with to raise health awareness, helped me understand that losing weight is about eating what you like, just in the appropriate portion sizes. I wouldn't say it was really hard, but it required focus and determination. In our society, we tend to just eat and eat because it's there. I'd love to sit around and eat whatever I want all day, but now I have to watch it.
Do you get to snack? They have snacks that you actually want to eat, like popcorn and cheese curls. I've learned how to have just enough, like if you eat the popcorn slowly, you're good for the whole movie. And you can have one S'mores Bar, not five! When you're dieting, being able to eat things like that lifts you up. It's not a bleak thing where you say, "Ugh, I have to eat this now."
Do you feel deprived? No, the program is so easy. You can grab something so you're not starving. I like the Tomato Florentine Soupitizer because it's low in calories and you're full!
Do you ever cheat with food not in the program? I do cheat a little sometimes with ice cream. I'll have a small sundae, but I'll substitute frozen yogurt. And I still put the fudge on there because I'm not having a huge one!
And you exercise, right? Working out made me feel like a whole person again! As soon as I could, I went to a friend's house in Palm Beach, Florida, that was like a private spa and had a gorgeous gym. I don't use weights because I'm big-boned, but I do a lot of cardio and aquatic workouts in the pool using my own weight for resistance. And I walk a lot. Even though my weight loss was mostly from dieting, I'm never going to stop working out. It releases stress. I'm really focused on my health now — mind, body and soul.
Did the program help you find that focus? The advising sessions felt almost therapeutic. Nutrition is important to me now. My health struggles over the past years have helped me realize how many people go through similar things and they have nobody to educate them. So doing that for others is my main motivation.
What body parts are you loving the most? My legs! Normally, no matter how much weight I'd gained, they were the same, so I could look at them and be like, OK, I'm still me. But during the pregnancy, it was like two of them equaled one. Seeing my legs again and being able to wear skirts have been great. I also love my arms. I think it's been easier to tone them because my tolerance for pain has been greater!
Do you want to lose any more weight? A lot of the people around me think I should stop. They say, "You're at your weight from the 'Honey' video [in 1997]. Stay there!" But I think I looked my best in "Touch My Body" [from 2008], so that's my goal now. I know I'm not going to look my thinnest every day, but I know how to get back there if I want to.
So what's next? The studio is calling my name! Our babies are such an inspiration, and I can't help jotting down lyrics and singing new melodies every day. My fans have no idea how grateful I am to them for sticking with me through all of this, and I can't wait to give them another album. But for now, I'm just really glad to look like myself again.

Here are scans of magazines from around the world featuring Mariah and her twins, Moroccan and Monroe: Hello! from Serbia; You, Drums, and Huisgenoot from South Africa.
You, Drums and Huisgenoot (South Africa)
From You South Africa:
It took MARIAH CAREY a good six months to give the world a look at her twins but now she boasts an entire website of baby pics.
The 41-year old singer recently launched Dembabies.com to show everyone just how ridiculously cute MOROCCAN and MONROE (or Roc and Roe as she and hubby NICK CANNON have dubbed them) are.
In one shot, Monroe can be seen adorned in bling- clearly following in her glamorous mom's footsteps- and in another, the whole family is dressed up as superheroes The Incredibles for Halloween.
"We deliberated for so long about how to reveal the first pictures of our babies to the world. We just didn't want to do the typical thing and display them in a tabloid (not that there's anything wrong with that). We decided to share this beautiful experience with you in a special intimate portrait of our family," the couple wrote on the site.
They announced the news of the site after introducing the twins on the US television show 20/20 hosted by Barbara Walters. During the interview Nick (31) said he thought society put too much pressure on entertainers- "they praise them like they're royalty." Instead he plans to encourage his twins to graduate with PhDs.

Mariah To Appear on "Good Morning America" Tomorrow
Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 09-Nov-2011, 1:07PM EST
After becoming a mom, Mariah Carey shed the equivalent of a small child.
Carey, 41, bares her flat belly and toned legs on the latest cover of Us Weekly, touting her new role as the spokeswoman for the Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig). In an interview with the magazine, she crowed about dropping 30-pounds since giving birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April.
"I'm proud of how hard I worked to get my body back," she said. "I had to do this for me."
But on OWN's Rosie Show Tuesday, Carey said she lost 70 pounds following the birth of her twins. Carey explained that 40 pounds of that was water weight from her difficult pregnancy.
"In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema... water and swelling. Most pregnant woman have that just in their feet," she said.
The other 30 pounds dropped off with a combination of diet and exercise. Beginning in July, Carey adopted a Jenny-certified diet and workout plan, consuming no more than 1,500 calories a day and working out three times a week.
Now, she told Us Weekly, "I feel incredible." Catch Carey on Good Morning America Thursday where she'll talk more about her weight loss.
Good Morning America airs on ABC at 7:00 AM EST/PST. Us Weekly on newsstands this week.

It becomes so frustrating and debilitating that you give up."

Mariah: I Lost 70 Pounds After Twins
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 08-Nov-2011, 9:48PM EST
Mariah Carey wasn't shy about showing off her baby bump when she was pregnant with now-6-month-old twins Moroccan and Monroe Cannon.
And now, she's positively ecstatic about unveiling her hot new post-baby body after losing, she says, a full 70 lbs.
On Tuesday's episode of The Rosie Show on OWN, Carey, 42, was lowered diva-style onto the stage riding on a crescent moon and wearing a skin-tight black mini-skirt and cleavage-baring leather jacket.
She then explained her new physique was courtesy of a strict diet and exercise – along with the loss of what she says is about 40 lbs. of water due to a difficult pregnancy.
"In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema … water and swelling. Most pregnant woman have that just in their feet," Carey says. "One day I was doing my thank-you notes and I noticed it started rising up the leg, so I had edema. … I didn't think I would ever be the same person."
Diet Plan Spokeswoman
Once she'd shed the water weight, Carey embarked on the Jenny diet plan (formerly Jenny Craig), for which she now serves as a spokeswoman.
"The first week, I lost 40 lbs. … of just water," Carey says. "It was just water, initially. When I started with the program, I lost at least 30 lbs. of weight that needed to be lost."
And, says Carey, it wasn't all about appearance. Carrying so much extra weight made everyday tasks, including going to the bathroom, a challenge.
"I had a really tough pregnancy," she says. "I was supposed to be on bed rest, but it was so bad that even bed hurt. … I learned a lot being pregnant, watching my body change."
She adds, "The whole point of this is not just like: 'Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I'm fantastic.' It's really health. Like I said, I learned it when I became helpless and felt so vulnerable like never before in my life."
How She Did It
Because she had a Cesarean section, Carey says exercise wasn't an option early on. So, she says, "The diet is 90 percent of it."
Remembering to eat was one of her biggest challenges because, she says, she believes if she goes too long without refueling, "You slow down your metabolism."
For her, it was important "being able to just grab something. I like the soups a lot. It's 50 calories. I gotta say I like the snacks too."
Carey also regained her fitness by exercising with her dogs and doing workouts in the ocean.
One thing she won't stick with once she meets her goal.
"I never weighed myself," she explains. "People will think I'm a liar but it's true. This is another cliché phrase, I'm a big boned girl … I'm tall and so I always weigh more."
Instead of weighing herself, she says, "I would tend to go, 'Does this size dress fit me that I wore three years ago? I'm good, let's go.' I would go by what it looked like, how I felt."

Mariah Carey is waiting to unwrap another Christmas present for her lambs. In addition to shooting a video with Justin Bieber for "All I Want for Christmas Is You," the pop songbird has joined forces with John Legend on a remix to her holiday song "When Christmas Comes."
She teased with a video of herself driving through the snow playing a snippet of the remix. The original song, produced by The Roots’ James Poyser, appears on her 2010 holiday album Merry Christmas II You.
"Coming soon, a legendary musical collabo. #WhenChristmasComes Sorry for the camera work, the snow made it pip!" tweeted MC. "So.. that was a snippet of the RnB Christmas collabo – me & the legendary John, soon to be topping your Christmas list! P.S. It’s a SGSHW!"
Justin Bieber Shoots "Classic" Video With Mariah
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 03-Nov-2011, 6:17PM EDT
Mariah and Justin Bieber have been busy shooting the music video for their duet on "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at Macy's in New York City! Check out the first two photos from the videoshoot:
Justin Bieber has been very busy this week. He dropped a new album, Under the Mistletoe on Tuesday, appeared on "Dancing With the Stars," freestyled over the Throne's "Otis," and not only shot a music video with Boyz II Men for "Fa La La," but also managed to squeeze in a shoot with Mariah Carey.
Bieber and Carey both tweeted about the video for their reimagining of her classic holiday tune "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
"Might have to go shoot this video with @mariahcarey for our duet! focused on the positives ... the music. #UNDERTHEMISTLETOE," Bieber tweeted about the shoot, referring to a California woman's claim that he fathered her child.
"4:30am and going hard on the 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' shoot with @mariahcarey !! #superfestive #underthemistletoe," he later shared. The original video for the tune, shot to look like a home video, features Carey decked out in skimpy Santa suits and snow-bunny garb, running around decorating Christmas trees, playing in the snow, hanging with Santa and his elves, and generally getting into the holiday spirit.
Mariah Carey seemed equally stoked about the video shoot, gushing about it on her Twitter: "Shooting the final take of 'All I Want.' duet with surprise appearance by Jilly beans & directed by my friend, the wonderful Sanaa Hamri," she said, noting that the shoot was made even more special because it coincided with one of her personal milestones.
"Happy anniversary to [my album] MERRY CHRISTMAS II YOU!!!" she added.
"On the night we're shooting the new 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' with @justinbieber."
Hamri has shot videos for Carey's "Crybaby," "Bringing on the Heartbreak" and "Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)," as well as clips for Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z and Christina Aguilera.
The shoot lasted all night, with Bieber tweeting Thursday morning (November 3) that Carey and the crew had wrapped up. "Just wrapped the ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU with the icon and amazing @mariahcarey!" he wrote. "HONORED and I think this video is gonna b classic!"
Bieber told MTV News that getting Carey to join him for the duet was surprisingly easy. "Mariah Carey is doing it with me! It's incredible. So excited," he said. "We wanted Mariah from the beginning, but we kind of thought it was really hard, so we didn't really push the idea. But she's on my label, so we reached out to some people, she got in contact with us, and Randy Jackson was actually at the studio with us, and I was like, 'Yo, you think you can help get Mariah on the Christmas album?' And he was like, 'I'm actually going to see her in New York on Monday,' and I was like 'Yo, go do that!' "
Mariah Carey Guests on Uncle Murda's "Warning"
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 01-Nov-2011, 10:47PM EDT
East New York MC Uncle Murda has friends in high places, and he's out to prove it on the remix for his street hit "Warning."
Mariah Carey, 50 Cent and Young Jeezy stop by on Murda's redux, and the track begins with Mrs. Cannon talking about something she's lost.
"How can I explain the fact that I don't know where my sock drawer is," Carey says with a laugh. "I don't know. OK, Let's stop the questions there."
50 Cent comes in on the second verse warning others of sleeping with the wrong person.
"Everything cool 'til I black out, oh you goon' get it, " 50 Cent spits. "Run, you back up, be my target, oh I'm gon' hit it. N---as see me with the strap out, oh they start snitching. F--- the wrong bitch then it's oh when you're pissing."
Elsewhere, Young Jeezy addresses those who say the MC's fallen off of his game.
"I gets money, I gets money, oh, I'm having paper," Jeezy says. "Man I'm saying f--- the playing, oh these n---as haters. When they thought that I was over, I'm like oh you n---as trippin', I'm out with Wink Loc in Brooklyn, like oh these n---as crippin'."
Uncle Murda was signed to Roc-A-Fella in 2007 but left the label not long after the following year. The "Warning (remix)" featuring Mariah Carey, 50 Cent and Young Jeezy follows the first redux, which boasted Vado, Cam'Ron, Jim Jones, French Montana, Jadakiss and Styles P.

Bieber Talks Mariah on Leno

Justin Bieber appeared on last night's Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote his new Christmas album, Under The Mistletoe. He told Leno all about his collaboration with Mariah Carey, stating: "She's super cool, It was cool because I got to do All I Want To For Christmas Is You. It was tricky. She has super high notes, and it wasn't like she was going to change the key for me, so I had to go in and do her key. It was really hard, but we had to make it happen."
Billboard Reviews Mariah-Bieber Christmas Duet

Justin Bieber, 'Under The Mistletoe': Track Review By Jason Lipshutz, Billboard
6. All I Want For Christmas Is You (Superfestive!) - We give Justin props for trying to go all out in a higher register and recreate this modern classic with Mariah Carey's help. But, alas, the original still trumps it easily.
From Reuters: Mariah Carey guests on a re-do of her own "All I Want for Christmas" (the '90s smash that history may record as the final original Christmas song ever to become a standard). But it seems more appropriate to say that he guests on her recording. Bieber cut the song in a lower range, but then Carey heard it and suggested that they should do it as a duet, provided that he bring it back up to her original key. He should have kept the first version and turned her down; the end result sounds like Bieber singing along with Carey karaoke.
