Katy Perry's "E.T." (featuring Kanye West) jumps to #1 on the Hot 100 in week ending March 27, 2011. It's the fourth consecutive #1 hit from Perry's sophomore album, Teenage Dream. It follows "California Gurls" (featuring Snoop Dogg), "Teenage Dream" and "Firework." Perry's album is the first since Usher's Confessions in 2004 to spawn four #1 singles. It's the first by a female artist to yield four #1 hits since Mariah Carey's eponymous debut album in 1990-1991.
Only six other albums have spawned four or more #1 hits on the Hot 100. Michael Jackson's Bad, which generated five #1 hits in 1987-1988, leads the pack. Albums that have spun off four #1 hits are the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack (1977-1978), Whitney Houston's sophomore album Whitney (1987-1988), George Michael's solo debut Faith (1987-1988), Paula Abdul's debut album Forever Your Girl (1989-1990) and Janet Jackson's second album as a major star, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989-1991).
These nine albums all but define the term "mass appeal." Seven of them were Grammy finalists for Album of the Year. Saturday Night Fever (which spawned three #1 hits for the Bee Gees and one for Yvonne Elliman) and Faith both won the award. Whitney, Bad, Mariah Carey, Confessions and Teenage Dream were all nominated for the award. (Forever Your Girl and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 were both passed over for Album of the Year nominations.)
Mariah's 'Nerve-Racking' Contractions
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 30-Mar-2011, 12:06PM EDT
It'll take a little more than a few contractions to rattle Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey. Reports this week suggested the pair panicked over a possible early arrival of their twins, but all four are doing just fine.
"They're calling it a 'scare,' but really, it was just nerve-racking. We were in the hospital from 4 a.m. until I don't even know. The thing with twins is that you want them in their natural incubator as long as possible. They might be ready to come out, but we need them to stay in for a while," ," Nick Cannon said.
But is mom Mariah ready for their debut? "She's super ready," Cannon said with a laugh. Meanwhile, Mariah is enjoying her pregnancy, evidenced by Monday's baby-bump decorating. "That's her finding the fun and festiveness through the pain," he said.
Another source of joy for the couple has been the embarrassment of gifts in their home trumpeting the fraternal twins. "We got so much stuff... There's all these giant stuffed animals," he said of the life-sized loot listed on their baby registry, "it looks like Noah's Arc in here. There's giraffes, polar bears, lions."

Nicki Minaj Wants Mariah in Her Video
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 30-Mar-2011, 9:01AM EDT
Nicki Minaj could eclipse Bon Gerdof and the Band Aid crew with her new music video. The US singer has asked every star she raps about in new song "Girls Fall Like Dominoes" to be in the video.
Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce, Grace Jones, Mariah Carey, the Kardashians, M.I.A., Ciara and Donatella Versace are all mentioned and have received an invitation for a cameo role.
The star squeezed the names into just a few verses. She raps: "When I'm in Miami I'm with Kourtney, Kim and Khloe, and when I'm in the A I'm with Ciara or it's Keri; I'm feeling like a diva and I hit Mariah Carey, I'm in the UK, I'ma see M.I.A. If I just wanna talk I'ma hit up Monique, if I need a bad bitch Angelina Jolie. Material Girls like Madonna model for Donatella, she look just like Rihanna; anyway yo, hit up Grace Jones and tell her I said strange. I'm out in Paris mothaf***a with Beyonce."

Mariah Has False Labor Alarm
Posted by Lynn on Sunday, 27-Mar-2011, 8:21PM EDT
Mariah Carey almost had two little bundles of joy as her birthday presents. Last night, the singer announced over Twitter that contractions sent her and hubby Nick Cannon rushing to the hospital thinking the babies were making their debut earlier than expected.
"So #dembabies really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary. I started having contractions last night..went 2 teh hospital," the mom-to-be tweeted.
Minutes later she followed up with two more updates: Finally they said I could go home after they got it under control but..They almost came on 3/27- happy anniversary in deed!!! We have a few more weeks 2 go but- wow!!!: ) #soreadyallready
If this is only after a near delivery, we can only imagine the exclamations to follow the tweets once their little boy and girl have finally arrived.

Tony Bennett's New Duets CD Out Sept. 20
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 25-Mar-2011, 9:48AM EDT
In Celebration of Tony Bennett's 85th Birthday TONY BENNETT: DUETS II CD TO BE RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 20TH ON RPM/COLUMBIA RECORDS
American icon Tony Bennett will celebrate his 85th birthday this year with a new CD, "Tony Bennett: Duets II," which will be released on September 20th on RPM/Columbia Records. Bennett has already begun the live recording process with several artists during Grammy week in February at LA's famed Capitol Studios. Subsequent sessions are planned for this Spring in New York, Nashville and Italy. "Duets II," produced by Phil Ramone follows up "Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic" CD, the 2006 Grammy winning best selling CD which became Bennett's best selling recording to date.
Alone Tony Bennett is legendary. In partnership with another singer, he's extraordinary. A sterling all-star roster will join Tony in the studio including Mariah Carey, Natalie Cole, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones and Amy Winehouse. Some of country's biggest names will also join the round-up including Faith Hill, Willie Nelson and Carrie Underwood. From the international pantheon: angel-voiced tenor Andrea Bocelli from Italy and Latino singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz from Spain. Josh Groban and John Mayer are also slated to collaborate with Bennett. Michael Buble and k.d. lang who were both featured on the original "Duets" CD will return for "Duets II." All artists will record their duets live in the studio with Bennett.
"I love the Great American songbook and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to introduce many of these songs to the public...It is a thrill to perform them once again with artists that I admire to create new interpretations of the music I love so much," says Bennett.
The US and international recording sessions for "Duets II" are being filmed by Academy award winning cinematographer Dion Beebe ("Chicago," "Memoirs Of A Geisha," "Collateral") and will be released as a documentary in conjunction with the new CD project, providing an in depth study of Bennett's creative and artistic process.

Simon Says Mariah is Excited About X-Factor 'Role'
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 24-Mar-2011, 2:58PM EDT
Broadway World had the privilege of speaking to Simon Cowell about X-Factor, and his thoughts on Broadway in general. In the interview, Simon has once again mentioned the special role Mariah will supposedly have on X-Factor. Though no specifics as to what that role will entail, it's nice to see him give props to Mariah.
Broadway World: Can you confirm Mariah Carey as a judge on X-Factor?
Simon Cowell: She can't do it now because she is pregnant, but we think we may have a role for her on the live shows - which she is excited about and I am excited about. And, I adore Mariah - I spent a couple of hours with her a week or so ago. She is always great company because she is ambitious and she wants to be on this show. I am happy to find a role for her on X-Factor.
BW: She is rumored to be doing a Broadway Christmas show. Do you think it's time for Mariah to take on Broadway?
SC: Yeah. One hundred percent. I mean, I've always been a massive fan of hers as an artist, and, now, I've gotten to know her well. She's a great person - she really is. I adore her.

Mariah, Nicki Minaj to Collaborate Anew?
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 23-Mar-2011, 4:34PM EDT
X-Factor judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell were live on On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS 102.7FM in Los Angeles this morning to promote their upcoming auditions for the show.
In the interview, Ryan asked L.A. Reid to confirm the rumors about Nicki Minaj being one of the judges on the much-hyped-lately reality TV singing competition that's premiering on FOX in the Fall. Ryan's source apparently has seen Nicki Minaj in L.A.'s office recently.
L.A. has denied the rumors and said: "Nicki Minaj in my office? She just made a record with Rihanna. Had her do another record with Mariah, had nothing to do with X-Factor." Listen to an audio clip below.
This will be Mariah and Nicki's second time to work together if this project materializes. As we all know, Mariah and Nicki previously collaborated on the remix version of "Up Out My Face" in early 2010.

Mariah's New Boss at IDJ

WEISS IN AT IDJ, UNIVERSAL MOTOWN REPUBLIC GROUP Veteran RCA/Jive Exec Named Chairman/CEO
Moving swiftly to fill the vacancy left by Antonio "L.A." Reid's exit to X Factor, UMG Chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge has named Barry Weiss Chairman/CEO of Island Def Jam and Universal Motown Republic Group. As a result, he will have executives like Monte and Avery Lipman, Sylvia Rhone and IDJ President Steve Bartels reporting to him.
Weiss was named Chairman/CEO for RCA/Jive Label Group in 2008, where his artist roster included Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Kings of Leon, Jennifer Hudson, KeSha and The Strokes.
Insiders credit his longevity to a "steady yet flexible management style"—his way of balancing the bottom line with creative freedom.

Mariah May Still Work On X-Factor?
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 21-Mar-2011, 1:58PM EDT
From this week's People magazine, this is what Simon Cowell had to say about the potential judges for X-Factor.
People: Who is in the running to judge and mentor with you on X-Factor?
Simon: Paula Abdul. She has good taste in music, though you didn't always see that on TV. I also like Jessica Simpson. She knows what she's talking about; she's very into the mentoring side and is underrated as a singer. I think Cheryl Cole's personality would translate in America, and we'd love to work with L.A. Reid. After Mariah Carey has her babies, there might be a role for her during the live shows.
This morning when Nick Cannon and Perez Hilton were doing their usual call on 92.3 NOW, Nick told Perez that Simon came over to his house last week to talk to Mariah about X-Factor. He said she told Simon, because she has babies to raise and is working on music, she doesn't want to be a judge. But, she'd like to be involved with the show, so they are trying to work out her role.

Mariah Will Not Judge X-Factor
Posted by Lynn on Saturday, 19-Mar-2011, 1:41PM EDT
There has been speculation for months about who Simon Cowell will have on the judging panel for "X Factor" — some even pointing to Mariah Carey as a possibility. ESSENCE.com has received confirmation from a credible source that Carey will not be a judge on the show, despite the rumors circulating. Cowell did approach the award-winning singer/songwriter with the request but she politely declined the offer, as she is busy preparing for the arrival of her twins with husband Nick Cannon and writing music for a new album.
With an endless list of accolades — including 13 ASCAP Awards, 20 BMI Awards, more weeks at #1 than any other producer or songwriter in history, etc. — Carey is a natural choice to be a high-profile judge on the talent show, but once and for all we can confirm that she will not be featured.

Mariah Moving Back to Sony?
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 17-Mar-2011, 10:48AM EDT
Here's LA Reid's farewell letter to his staff at Def Jam. Sources tells me he's heading to Sony Music - and of course "X Factor" - come this summer. And you heard this here first too: Mariah Carey will join him and Doug Morris back at Sony in 2012. She has one album left on her UMG contract, and she'll release it before the end of the year. First she has to release those twins, due in two to three weeks.
"Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand." - Colin Powell
To my Island Def Jam family:
After much consideration, I have decided to leave my position as Chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group. I have always thrived on growth and the next great challenge, and I look forward with much enthusiasm to what the future holds.
I am extremely proud of our beautiful roster and all we have accomplished in my seven years with IDJ. We continue to have incredible success together with today's most phenomenal superstars - Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, The Killers, The-Dream, Chrisette Michele, Jeezy and Ludacris to name a few.
I want to thank all of you for your amazing contributions.
After all that pampering I was more than ready to trip across the Atlantic to LA for 2 hours - yes really - I was going for a 2 hour function - Mariah Carey's baby-shower. I spent the last few weeks talking myself down from the trip with the usual logic "it's very extravagant for a 2 hour function," "you can't really afford to act like a diva swanning constantly across the Atlantic," "there are plenty of other festive moments you can share with your mate once the twins arrive." Did any of it help keep my ass here? Nope. I only needed the tiniest of persuading and I was on that plane faster than Usain Bolt.
On the Saturday Mariah had a few close girl friends over at her crib where we caught up over plates of her delicious Italian pasta dinner. I tried to feel the twins kicking by holding Mrs C's belly for a while, we relaxed in the pool and played with the latest additions to the Carey-Cannon household - 2 new female puppies called Jill E. Beans and Sweetie Pie. The significance of the 2 babies that were born merely days earlier was not lost on us all. This is a fertile house!
The following day we made our way up to the uber plush Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills where Mariah's press and management teams had organised a vision of love LOL! The rooftop overlooking the city had been transformed into a blue and pink themed cosy mirage. Candles everywhere, 2 giant stuffed giraffes and a stuffed zebra, pink and blue cupcakes, balloons, and flowers, a 6 foot long table laden down with gifts from us all and a few from some very famous friends that I spotted, gourmet fast food, cocktails and of course - angel champagne for the guests. Mariah and Nick both had a mix of family members and friends in the place.
I was surprised to see that unlike the baby-showers I'm used to attending "IN ENGLAND" (private Cannon joke!), where it's just the mum-to-be and her mates lounging around casually in tracksuits playing baby games and opening gifts, this was an all sexes welcome very sophisticated soiree where we all rejoiced in the pending arrival of the 2 new babies and the joy of their excited parents.
Mariah's tummy is pretty big right now so even though she looked stunning, we insisted she lay back on a plush white chaise lounge (as if she needed convincing!), and her guests took turns in greeting and catching up with her. MC was dressed in a floor length colourful Roberto Cavalli dress with her mermaid like hair cascading down her back. She may be in the most uncomfortable pregnancy months, going through backache and the such but she will always get it together and look her absolute best. Nick wore a 3-piece suit, which reflected the pink and blue theme.
As soon as we arrived American idol star and music impresario Randy Jackson and artist manager Chris Lighty were holding court. It's always fabulous to catch up with BET Television head Stephen Hill (he was once an MTV bod like moi). Multi media maven for TV, Radio and internet B Scott was looking ultra fabulous. New York's not to be messed with publicist Marvet Britto was bubbly and excited. Actress Phylicia Rashard (The Cosy Show) was adorable whilst catching up with us all. But I was most excited to spot in a corner, by himself, looking a little lost - Nick's work colleague and my idol Piers Morgan! I love this man! As if it couldn't be more perfect I am halfway through reading his latest book - I've read them all. They're hilarious! He started as a showbiz columnist like me (at THE SUN) many years ago and graduated to THE MIRROR editor and has always been a wildly fun, opinionated, totally real person that's taken risks - some that have paid off - others that have seen him fired from his position but like a true winner gets up bigger and better. After his MIRROR humiliation - where he was never proven guilty but used as a scapegoat - he hosted a British talk show and now has gone onto being part of America's number 1 entertainment show "America's Got Talent" as well as taking over from Larry King with his own chat show. That's gangsta! I had someone introduce us. Piers looked as if he couldn't have been more relieved to talk to someone and was really very lovely and conversational. He notoriously says he loves flattery and trust me he wouldn't have been disappointed in my chat. I was shamelessly happy to meet a man I've admired for years. When I finally thought I should probably be polite and leave him alone it took all my will power not to jump up and down with excitement!
I returned to check on my girl and ensure she was good and hung out with the 2 grandmas to be for a while. Both Mariah and Nick's mothers were in attendance looking lovely and graceful, Mariah's in blue, Nick's in pinky peach.
As the night wore down to a close, the Cannons took the mic to thank their guests and make little, cute speeches about impending parenthood, next video and film director Brett Ratner took the mic and made a really funny speech after which we were all handed a goody - bag full of very festive Mariahisms to take home. A great moment to cherish for life. Now those twins just need to hurry and arrive when they're ready cos auntie Jasmine has a list of things to teach them - including the thesis of rainbows, butterflies and swimming in the ocean as well as the fact that I will be reading stories to them all night long! Their English accent is gonna be pipper than their mom's!
Reid Leaving Island Def Jam for X Factor
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 17-Mar-2011, 4:15AM EDT
Antonio "L.A." Reid will leave his job as chairman of Island Def Jam to become a judge on Simon Cowell's upcoming show "The X Factor," a source familiar with Cowell's offer confirmed to Billboard Wednesday.
Reid accepted an offer from Simon Cowell this week to join the Fox television show, which will begin airing in September, the source said. Reid's contract was due to expire in December.
Island Def Jam will continue to be run by Steve Bartels. Barry Weiss, the former Sony Music executive joining Universal Music Group this month, is expected to add oversight of Island Def Jam to his duties.
The question remains, however, whether Reid will eventually join his former Universal boss Doug Morris, who becomes CEO of Sony Music on July 1.
Sony Music has vested interest in the competition: Recordings of the show's contestants will be controlled by Simon Cowell's Syco and Sony Music and the winner will receive a $5 million contract with Sony Music.
LA Reid Leaving DefJam to Judge "X Factor" and (Probably) Become Sony Music Titan On the heels of a scoop that LA Reid is going to judge "X Factor," here's the real deal: Reid leaves Universal Music Group tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow! It's all been in the works for weeks. And then, right after Doug Morris takes over Sony Music on July 1st, Reid will follow him there. The word is that Reid will assume a new spot right under Morris, running one or more of the labels. He will not only replace Barry Weiss, who ran the RCA/J group, but will have lots more power than that. This is an amazing story, really, since Reid left running Arista Records – part of that RCA group – a few scant years ago to run Island DefJam for Universal. He returns triumphant, and a judge as well. Maybe they'll have to call him "Your Honor." Reid will judge "X Factor" with Simon Cowell and two ladies who have not been named. One of them could be Paula Abdul. One of them could be Janet Jackson – remember I said this first – who has no record company affiliation and is an actress who knows the camera. In the meantime, Reid's departure from DefJam leaves a big hole for artists like Mariah Carey, who have come to depend on him. The funniest scenario would be Mariah returning to Sony with Reid. Anything is possible.

With twin ascensions to No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts, P!nk matches the marks for most leaders on each Nielsen BDS-based radio airplay ranking.
"F**kin' Perfect" lifts 2-1 to become P!nk's seventh No. 1 on Pop Songs, tying Rihanna for most toppers in the chart's 18-year history. P!nk passes Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga, each with six No. 1s.
While P!nk matches Rihanna's mark for most Pop Songs No. 1s, the latter star rewrites another chart record. Rihanna passes Carey for most Pop Songs top 10s, as "S&M" whips up a 14-9 advance to become her 18th top 10. She first reached the top tier with "Pon De Replay" (No. 2) in July 2005. Carey has collected her 17 top 10s between 1993 and 2009.

Life & Style: Inside Mariah's Baby Shower
Posted by Lynn on Saturday, 12-Mar-2011, 12:27AM EST
Mariah Carey fetes her soon-to-arrive twins — and Life & Style was the only magazine invited!
As Nick lovingly documented every move his glowing wife Mariah Carey made on a handheld camera on March 6, it was clear he'll always be Mariah's baby. But he's about to get some welcome competition: The A-list couple had gathered an intimate group at LA's luxe Montage Beverly Hills hotel to celebrate the arrival of their twins, due in late April or early May.
"I'd never been to a baby shower," Mariah tells Life & Style. "This was my first one — it was so festive!"
Festive is a serious understatement. As Life & Style previously reported, Mariah and Nick are expecting a boy and a girl. So of course the shower was awash in fab pink and blue hues — from the balloons and flowers to the servers' aprons.
Nearly lost in the sea of sweet pastels? Celeb friends — including American Idol judge Randy Jackson and host Pierce Morgan — who filled the 6-foot-long gift table with tiny outfits and books from the registry arranged by GaGa Designs, before noshing on a selection of gourmet pizzas and appetizers.
While pals Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne couldn't make the adults-only affair, they left a lasting impression with their present: an almost-life-size stuffed giraffe!
"Nick and I were so grateful to everyone who came to celebrate with us," Mariah tells Life & Style. "There was a lot of love in the room, and to top it off, fans from more than 50 countries sent well-wishes in a book they made for our twins titled Always Be My Babies. It was a night I will never forget."
Neither will the dad-to-be. "To see my beautiful wife in all her glory...," a touched Nick mused in his toast. "I don't know what it's like to carry twins, but I know what it's like to witness someone carrying twins."
Clearly, it's breathtaking.
ALL THE ADORABLE DETAILS Room with a view. Guests took in the gorgeous LA skyline from the Conservatory Grill atop the Montage hotel. All the while, Mariah held court from a glam chaise lounge!
Napkins as favors. Emblazoned with carriages and the special occasion's date, Mariah's napkins coordinated with tiny strollers that adorned the fete's pink and blue bouquets.
Tasty, colorful treats. When not sucking on Sugar Factory's Hello Kitty lollipop favors, close family and friends had their choice of banana, dark chocolate or red velvet cupcakes.
Divine drinks. While Mariah's champagne brand, Angel, co-sponsored the shindig, "I sipped a 'pregnatini,' a special non-alcoholic cocktail," the singer tells Life & Style.

The New York Times caught up with Mr. Buatta, 75, one evening recently after having spent the day working on Mariah Carey's apartment, which he first decorated in the late 1990s.
He says of the project he is currently working on, "Mariah Carey's nursery. She's having twins. I was in there today. I'd done the apartment years ago, and it's all just the same, like a museum. She doesn't entertain there. She likes the surroundings to be private. People like her, their homes are the one place they can say, 'This is mine and no one is seeing it.'"
Jerry O'Connell Talks Working with Mariah

Jerry O'Connell, currently starring on CBS' The Defenders, recently spoke to EW about some of his greatest roles. In "Heartbreaker" (1999), O'Connell played Mariah Carey's cheating boyfriend in this elaborate video, directed by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour). The actor only has great memories of Carey.
"She was a trip. I don't know anything about the music industry and I still don't. Champagne was flowing. She had a huge trailer. There was security everywhere. That was a world I just didn't know about. She was the best! She's a real Long Island girl. I found her to be really sweet and funny."
Stefano Zagni: Mariah & Nick Will Be Great Parents
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 09-Mar-2011, 5:46PM EST
Heavily pregnant Mariah Carey's due date is inching ever closer, and according to a close friend the 41-year-old singer couldn't look any more amazing or be in any higher spirits.
Stefano Zagni is Mariah's business partner at Angel Champagne and a close friend to both Mariah and her husband Nick Cannon, and in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, Zagni dishes on Mariah's baby shower last weekend and why he believes Mariah and Nick will be "great parents."
"Seeing them together as a couple they're very loving with each other and you can just feel the excitement between them over the babies," Stefano says. "During the baby shower Nick was running around with his camera taking lots of pictures but every two or three minutes he would go over to check on Mariah and see if she was okay. He dotes on her. They completely adore each other and are so much in love. I just think they're going to be the perfect family. I really do. I think they're going to make great parents. They're going to be very loving and hands-on. Mariah's doing very well. I hadn't seen her for a few months but she looks absolutely stunning. She was glowing and very happy and in good spirits. Both her and Nick are very excited about the birth and they're just hugely looking forward to the future as a family. They're lucky to have twins. It's great isn't it? You could tell from all the pink and blue balloons at the shower that they're having one of each, which is perfect and amazing. Mariah's been taking it easy and she wasn't running around during the event. Having twins is quite a big thing - she was resting."
Mariah and Stefano have been business partners for the past couple of years and the British born entrepreneur hosted Mariah's shower as his gift to her. The event was held at the Montage Hotel's Conservatory Grill in Beverly Hills on Sunday, and it was a lavish affair.
"It was a very nice festive lovely event," Stefano says. "Full of beautiful balloons and lots of gifts from friends and family. A very classy nice event for a couple of hours. I have to say the whole thing was very special. It was magical with the guests that turned up and the food, along with Angel Champagne to sip on. There was beautiful food and canapés and everyone was in good spirits, Mariah looks absolutely amazing. There were some nice guests there and some of them made speeches. Brett Ratner [who has directed Mariah's music videos], Randy Jackson, and Piers Morgan showed up. Brett and Randy gave speeches. Everyone had a great time. But the star of the event was, of course, Mariah, and she looked resplendent and glowing from top to bottom. I have never seen her happier."

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are expecting twins and the couple gave Life & Style exclusive access to their intimate baby shower on March 6.
"Nick and I were so grateful to everyone who came to celebrate with us," Mariah told the magazine.
Mariah revealed that hers was the only baby shower that the singer had ever attended, saying, "This was my first one -- it was so festive."
The event was held in a space decorated in pink and blue, since the couple is expecting to have a boy and a girl.
"There was a lot of love in the room, and to top it off, fans from more than 50 countries sent well-wishes and stories in a book they made for our twins titled Always Be My Babies, which was the sweetest gesture in the world," said Mariah, who also received gifts from celebrities such as Randy Jackson, Piers Morgan, Lorraine Bracco, Penny Marshall and Brett Ratner. "It was a night I will never forget."
Mariah's baby shower photos are featured in the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands nationwide now.
Cliff Richard Admires Mariah
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 09-Mar-2011, 5:00AM EST
Sir Cliff Richard yesterday unveiled plans for a new album and tour that will see him at 70 teaming up with Motown's greatest living artists, executive producer David Gest and even some hip hop stars.
The evergreen singer said he was tired of being "compartmentalised" by the music industry and admitted while loving The Everly Brothers and Frank Sinatra, he also admires today's chart—toppers Adele, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga.
Sir Cliff looked incredibly youthful as he unveiled news of his album, Soulicious, at a press conference in London sporting a Caribbean suntan and trendy military jacket. He will tour the UK this autumn when his new album is released.
Cliff said: "This is just a dream come true for me. It is difficult to be 'new' when you've been singing for 52 years, but I am going to try...if we can finish this, I will have died and gone to heaven."
Speaking of the modern artists he likes, Cliff said: "Mariah Carey always sounds really special. Will Young also stands out. Leona Lewis and Adele have wonderful voices too. I wouldn't even mind singing with Lady Gaga, but she would have to take that hat off."
Mariah Thanks Fans for Baby Shower Book
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 07-Mar-2011, 5:00PM EST
Thank you SO much to all who came to the baby shower last night and all who couldn't be there but sent such beautiful presents and sweet messages!
Still haven't really opened all the gifts but seeing so many people who came from all over the world to be there with us was the BEST gift we could ask for!
The "Always Be My Babies" 'Lamb Book' is definitely my new prized possession and I can't thank the Lambs around the world enough for your letters & well wishes.
FYI-we so had a "moment" in the middle of the shower when they presented the book to me and everyone thought it was the cutest, most thoughtful thing ever! Clearly, only the Lambs would swing something like that home!!! It was the best moment of the night. I can't wait for the twins to read the messages and feel the love!!! : )
Again, thank you so much to our friends and family for making it an unforgettable experience
Mariah & Nick Celebrate at Blue-and-Pink Baby Shower
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 07-Mar-2011, 9:15AM EST
The Conservatory Grill at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills was transformed into a blue-and-pink wonderland Sunday, as Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated the upcoming arrival of their twins with an elegant baby shower.
The parents-to-be arrived at 7 p.m., with Cannon, 30, behind the wheel of a black Rolls-Royce that he gave Carey, 41, as a Christmas gift. They were joined by friends including American Idol judge Randy Jackson.
The adults-only shower had a warm and romantic atmosphere with small cocktail tables that were decorated with pink roses and blue hydrangeas. (They are expecting a boy and a girl.) Pink and blue balloons also dotted the private event.
"Mariah has been anxiously awaiting her shower, and she was very excited when she arrived at the hotel," says a source. "She couldn't wait to celebrate her baby twins with her friends."
Carey and Cannon received many pink-and-blue-wrapped presents and several lavish gifts, including two almost life-size stuffed giraffes and two chairs hand-made for the twins.
Guests nibbled on gourmet appetizers and sipped Angel champagne.
"Mariah had the best time at her shower," says the source. "She was very touched by how nicely everything turned out and excited about all the generous gifts she received. She has been feeling a bit tired and worn out lately, but the shower was an event that she really enjoyed and that made her very happy. Now she can't wait to meet her baby twins!"

Mariah On Short List For X Factor Judging Panel
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 03-Mar-2011, 1:00PM EST
Simon Cowell has finally confirmed some celebrity names that are in the running for spots on "The X Factor" judges panel, when the show launches on FOX this fall.
In a new interview with AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman, Simon confirmed that George Michael, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul are all being considered for the show, but no one is a lock.
"Have you talked to her?" Laura asked, referring to the very pregnant Mariah Carey. "Yeah, I've spoken to her. I mean literally, we've spoken to lots of people. I've spoken to Paula..." Simon told Laura.
"Are they calling you or are you calling them?" Laura asked. "Both. And then new people come along... [Two days ago], we met somebody who I've never met before in my life, who I just loved. And that's why it's good to kind of delay the process. It's not about necessarily the TV show per se, it's people. You genuinely gotta trust that they're gonna be able to do the job you're paying them to do. And like I said, a hit-maker who worked in America and has had experience, I think is crucial to this panel as well."
Simon admitted that Paula is actually on a narrowed down list of stars, and he is seriously considering reuniting with his former "American Idol" judge table buddy. "We've taken it down to a smaller group of people and she's in that panel," Simon said. "But, you know, it's more than me who makes the decision."
Mariah 'Embarrassed' Over Gadhafi-linked Concert
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 03-Mar-2011, 12:10PM EST
Mariah Carey says she was unaware that she was booked to perform a concert linked to Gadhafi's clan — and she's embarrassed "to have participated in this mess."
Carey is among a handful of entertainers who were paid handsome fees to give exclusive private concerts. It was later revealed the people behind those concerts were the family of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, whose country is in an open revolt against him and who faces an investigation for possible war crimes.
This week, Nelly Furtado announced she is giving the $1 million fee she was paid in 2007 to charity; Beyonce said in a statement Wednesday that she donated her fees for a 2009 New Year's Eve performance in St. Bart's to Haiti earthquake relief once she discovered the Gadhafi link.
Carey performed in St. Bart's in 2008, but in a statement released to The Associated Press on Thursday, she said she didn't know she was performing for an infamous family.
"I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess," the 40-year-old singer said. "Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately, we as artists are to be held accountable."
Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, would not comment on how much Carey was paid for the performance. But she noted that Carey has donated millions throughout the years to charity, from royalties from her hits "Hero" and "One Sweet Day" to her own foundation, Camp Mariah.
Berger said Carey will also donate royalties for the song "Save the Day," which she has written for her upcoming album, to charities that create awareness for human-rights issues.
"Mariah has and continues to donate her time, money and countless hours of personal service to many organizations both here and abroad," Berger said.
The album is not due out anytime soon; Carey is pregnant with a boy and girl, and she and husband Nick Cannon are expecting the babies in the spring.
"Save the Day" To Raise Money for Human Rights Issues
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 03-Mar-2011, 12:08PM EST
Mariah Carey's had a slight pr problem recently. She and other acts like Beyonce and Usher have performed in St. Barts over the last few years at New Year's Eve parties thrown by the sons of vicious, crazy dictator Muammar Ghaddafi. At the time, Libya was not in the news. The shows were booked by a name promoter who probably was not forthcoming about the true nature of the underwriters. Now it's become an issue in hindsight, which is sort of ridiculous.
Anyway, Mariah is not happy about what occurred and is stepping up to the plate. First, she tells me that a song she will record for her album, called "Save the Day," will only generate funds to be donated for human rights issues. She may even set up her own foundation. She's done this before. All the money ever made from the song "Hero" has gone to charity-millions. She's also donated millions from DVDs and from the song "One Sweet Day," which she recorded with Boyz II Men.
Carey has always been very philanthropic. She still runs her annual Camp Mariah through the Fresh Air Fund; she supports it financially. She's even given her image to PETA to sell, although considering the weather today she might want it back!
Mariah's official statement about the birthday event: "I was naïve and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable."
The Return of Da Brat
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 02-Mar-2011, 9:43PM EST
VIBE and All Hip Hop caught up with Da Brat during her first 48 free from an almost three year prison bid. Here are excerpts from her interviews that mention Mariah.
VIBE: How did you find out about Mariah's pregnancy? Oh man! I talk to Mariah often and her and Nick came to see me. I knew about the miscarriage and I know she's having the twins. And I know she only wanted to do it one time. They are like the cutest couple, they both are eternally 12. I swear! They're big kids.
VIBE: Who was most surprising visitor? Mariah and Nick surprised me! I saw someone from their crew and said 'Oh s**t!' I would've never thought that she would've came, she's so girly! But that's what real friends do.
AllHipHop: Do you have any regrets? I miss my family. That's the main part of it, I missed my family. And being able to hug and kiss on my mom, my granny and my aunt. My family, most of my family is in the Chi, in Chicago. I can't fly for a minute still. My granny's been going through some medical issues so I just miss her a whole lot. That's the worst part about it - not being able to get my grind on, not being able to make my paper. My royalty checks have done me well. I been out for a minute so all those collabos, all those people that I wrote with and wrote for. You know, Bow Wow records and those Mariah songs and the Missy [songs] - you know, they doing me lovely. "Funktified" all of that. All that's still getting airplay. My royalty checks is nice.
"We Belong Together" on KOST's Behind The Song
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 02-Mar-2011, 12:34AM EST
Another one of Mariah Carey songs was the highlight of Mark and Kristin's morning show segment Behind The Song on KOST 103.5FM in Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
As you may remember, Mariah's chart-toppers Vision of Love and One Sweet Day were previously featured on the show. Here's the third Mariah Carey song on Mark & Kristin's Behind The Song. Listen to host Mark Wallengren tell the story behind "We Belong Together" below!
"I think you're going to like today's Mark & Kristin's Behind The Song. Beginning with her first single, today's artist scored 15 no. 1 hits between 1990 and 2000, and then she entered into a difficult time - radio wasn't open to playing her records, her father died of cancer, her marriage had publicly broken up, and cameras followed her everywhere. She put out an album that she said was her new lease on life but it failed to reap any hits. She starred in a movie that was panned by critics. Then in 2004, producer L.A. Reid took over the record company and made her a promise. He said that her next album would be the biggest of her career and would put her back on top. His nickname for the project was 'The Return of the Voice,' and he gave her every tool and all the money and access she needed to a studio. When she met with L.A. to play him what she felt was the finished album, he challenged her to write even more. He sent her to Atlanta to write with one of her favorite creative partners Jermaine Dupri. Well, they came up with 4 new songs and one of those was the key to her return from the ashes. It was recorded in just one take and ended up being the biggest hit of her career. The song won 2 Grammy awards; went to no. 1 in Australia, Brazil, South Africa and loads more countries around the world; and stayed at no. 1 here in America for 14 weeks. It became the first song to be no. 1 on 9 different Billboard charts at the same time including the Ringtone chart. This was truly a comeback record. Now, if you guessed Mariah Carey, give yourself a pat on the back. We go back to 2005 and the smash called 'We Belong Together' on Mark & Kristin's Behind The Song on KOST 103.5."
Mottola on US X Factor Judging Panel?
Posted by Lynn on Tuesday, 01-Mar-2011, 2:28PM EST
Simon Cowell is lining up record executive Tommy Mottola to star on the US X Factor, according to the Daily Mail. The two music titans wined and dined at swanky Hollywood restaurant Cecconi's last night and beamed as they left.
If Mr Mottola - the former boss of Sony Music - takes the role, it could scupper an appearance by Mariah Carey, his ex-wife. Heavily pregnant Miss Carey, who is expecting twins next month with her husband Nick Cannon, had made clear her interest in joining Cowell, 51, on the judging panel of the new talent TV show – and was certainly a name on Fox executives' wish list.
There is still a month before Cowell will make an official announcement about who will join him on the show.
Nick on Defending Mariah's Honor, Picking Baby Names
Posted by Lynn on Tuesday, 01-Mar-2011, 2:25PM EST
Nick Cannon recently had a public feud with Chelsea Handler, who made jokes about Cannon and his wife Mariah Carey. This led to the comedienne calling in to Cannon's radio show, and Cannon revealed details on the feud to a Las Vegas radio talk show.
"You can say what you want about me, but when you start talking about my wife, I get a little sensitive," Cannon told John Katsilometes on the radio show Kats with the Dish. "I said some things that I don't really regret, but that were a little harsh, and we went back-and-forth."
When Handler called Cannon's 92.3 radio show in New York, she was not aware that Cannon hosted the program. "I don't think she would have done [the radio show] if she knew it was me," said Cannon. "But I had fun with it, I hope she did."
Cannon and his wife are currently expecting twins less than two months from now, but the couple doesn't seem to have decided on names yet. "We believe we have them, but you never know until you actually name them," said Cannon, who will be the father to one girl and one boy in April. "I have vetoed a few names, but don't know until you actually see them in person. Maybe we'll come up with something new. We'll know on the day they are born."
