Below is a rough translation of a local news article about Mariah's arrival and concert in Ischgl earlier this morning:
U.S. superstar Mariah Carey has announced on Monday in Ischgl their only European concert. Carey arrived with her family to the Tyrol, their children celebrated their first birthday Moroccan and Monroe. As a birthday gift, they received leather trousers and Dirndl.
"I've never seen anything like it," the 42-year-old artist was impressed by the Alps. They'll try to keep warm, she assured the journalists. After all, the show takes place in 2,300 meters. "Very excited," she had said the artist, and celebrate the whole family. Exactly four years ago, on exactly this date, she and her husband tied the knot.
Skiing've already tried several times, telling the star of the stage: "Well, I can not do that, but I'll try it again." Mariah Carey
On Sunday Carey arrived with an entourage of 35 people. On stage in the afternoon will be a white chaise lounge, bar stools, a white and a white table. Much light was required, even two pursuers headlights, although is it a daytime show.
Backstage has a room temperature are observed by exactly 24 degrees. Were ordered white roses - it was already to welcome in the valley -, smell candles (berries, sandalwood and softwood), peppermint gum, champagne, white and red wine, a raw vegetable plate, milk and chamomile tea. Humidifier to help ensure ideal conditions and save the vocal power of the singer.
The concert in Ischgl is the only first year of the U.S. stars in Europe. Currently, they do have their new album. Then we go on tour with "great locations". Carey did not give details in Ischgl.

Stylist Discusses Mariah's Lighter Hair Color
Posted by Jonny on Saturday, 28-Apr-2012, 2:00PM EDT
Mariah Carey recently got back into shape after carrying twins and now has a fresh, summery hair color courtesy of a celebrity stylist who shares the secret behind Carey's lighter locks with Daily Glow.
Kyle White, lead colorist at the Oscar Blandi Salon, has worked with the mega-star for years, and achieved her sun-kissed tone for the cover of Shape.
"Mariah's usually open to making adjustments to her hair color, and often we'll go lighter or darker depending on what she has coming up," White shares, while adding that the one color Carey stays away from is red.
For this look, White started with a honey-brown base color and then added golden highlights to frame Carey's face. To achieve the illusion that the star had spent days soaking up the sun at the beach, White dipped the ends of her locks in a lighter shade. His last step was to seal in the color and add shine with a clear gloss.
Thanks to Jenny Craig, Carey's body truly looks amazing on the May issue of Shape. She wears only a cropped shirt and bikini bottoms, revealing a taut tummy. Here's more on her weight loss journey.

They do – again!
Almost four years after their surprise wedding in the Bahamas, Nick Cannon got down on one knee before Mariah Carey in a reported vow renewal ceremony Friday night in Paris.
With the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, Carey is seen in photos beaming in a stunning white mermaid dress with spaghetti straps and a black bow at the waist as Cannon, in a white suit and black tie, locks his eyes with hers.
The couple have much to celebrate beyond their four-year anniversary, which falls on Monday. Along with enjoying nearly 1-year-old twins, Cannon appears to be on the mend from frightening health problems, including kidney disease.
After leaving the hospital in January, Cannon called Carey his "hero" and "the virtuous person who is my angel." Carey returned the compliment by telling him he was her "incredible husband" who, despite his struggles, was still "all strong and healthy and big."
The couple arrived in France by private jet around 1 a.m. Friday. During the day, Carey was spotted shopping at Baby Dior – the couple's twins turn 1 on Monday – and at the Louis Vuitton flagship store on the Champs-Elysees.
Friday night, after they posed for their wedding renewal photos, the couple were spotted dining Le Jules Verne restaurant on the Eiffel Tower.

Mariah Carey Wanted By amFAR
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 26-Apr-2012, 3:40PM EDT
Mariah Carey is in Paris right now celebrating her wedding anniversary with Nick Cannon and the first birthday of her twins. She might as well just stay there. I am told that amfAR, the AIDS research fundraising group, wants her as their big celebrity performer next month in Cannes. Past performers have included an eclectic range from Kylie Minogue to Wyclef Jean, Dita von Teese, and Janet Jackson. (The best one was in 2002 with Elton John and Sam Moore, among others.) Carey’s received the amfAR offer, but so far nothing’s been decided because she’s finishing up a new album and has other commitments.
Meanwhile, the Cannes Film Festival is getting wiser about amfAR siphoning off celebrities from the festival on the second Thursday of the festival. This year, Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen will premiere at the same time in “Hemingway and Gellhorn,” directed by Philip Kaufman, who’s also giving a master class during Cannes. This means the red carpet at the Palais could be just as busy–or busier than the one up at the Eden Roc in Antibes where amfAR stages its aggressive auction and dinner.

Mariah Carey Recording With Rick Ross

Mariah Carey has been pictured recording in the studio with Rick Ross.
The 42-year-old is currently recording tracks for her forthcoming album, the follow-up to 2009's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. So far, Mariah has been snapped in the studio with her longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri, B. Cox and several other rappers.
Posting the photo of them on his Twitter page, Ross wrote: "Rozay and MiMi."
It is not known if the tracks they are recording will feature on Mariah's record or The Bawse's forthcoming God Forgives, I Don't.
Whatever Rozay and MiMi are cooking up, it'll no doubt be anything short of amazing!
Mariah and Nick to Renew Vows in City of Lights
Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 25-Apr-2012, 8:01AM EDT
Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon are to renew their wedding vows in Paris this week.
The couple are to celebrate four years of marriage at a romantic hotel with the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop on Friday evening.
While they surprised fans by tying the knot in an intimate ceremony back in 2008, Mariah and Nick have opted for a far more public celebration this time round, inviting the press to capture the romantic moment.
The couple will greet media at La Maison Blanche hotel in the romantic city following their vow renewals.
The singing superstar and America's Got Talent host wed in secret at a private resort in the Bahamas on April 30, 2008. They had known each other for only a month after meeting on the set of her music video, and have defied critics with their lasting and clearly devoted relationship. At the time, the "Heartbreaker" singer said: "We really do feel we are soulmates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me."
Their twins Moroccan and Monroe were born on their third wedding anniversary last year. So with the babies turning one on Monday, the extravagant family are set for a double celebration.
Nick said they had something special planned while speaking to People magazine last week. "We're taking a break," he said. "It's going to be exciting. We're doing something special and something unique."
It has been a trying few months for the couple, with Nick suffering kidney failure earlier this year.
Mariah & Family to Visit Paris
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 24-Apr-2012, 7:18PM EDT
In celebration of their wedding anniversary and dem babies' first birthday, Mariah and Nick are planning to visit Paris, France. The trip will take place prior to Mariah's show in Ischgl, Austria on April 30.
While the anniversary and birthday celebrations will be private, the following details about the trip are known:
On April 27, Mariah and Nick will arrive at the Plaza Athenee Hotel, located at 15 Avenue Montaigne, 75008. At approximately 8:30 pm, they will visit the La Maison Blanche Restaurant to take photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background. Note that the restaurant will be closed and no entry will be permitted.
Mariah always loves seeing and feeling the love from her fans. If you would like to try to see Mariah and give her letters or gifts, it is recommended that you wait outside the hotel (not at the restaurant). Please note that her arrival time at the hotel is not known and that is not guaranteed that time will allow her to meet and greet. It is not known when Mariah and family will depart Paris for Ischgl.
As Mariah tweeted just a short while ago: "we have put together some very festive plans: ) LYM! Can't wait to see you soon in Paris and Ischgl.. x0x0 MC"

The Essential Celebrates Mariah Carey's First Decade
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 24-Apr-2012, 2:01PM EDT
28-track, 2-CD Collection Contains 14 #1 Hot 100 Hits, Plus Rare Remixes and Selected Album Tracks
Mariah Carey's first decade of record-setting hit singles, remixes and fan-favorite album tracks are collected on THE ESSENTIAL MARIAH CAREY. The 28 tracks on this double CD laid the foundation for five-time Grammy Award®-winner Mariah's reign as the top-selling female recording artist in history with over 200 million albums, singles and videos sold worldwide.
THE ESSENTIAL MARIAH CAREY, which is an update of 2001's Greatest Hits with four different tracks, will be available everywhere starting May 8th through Columbia Records, a division of SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.
"I wanted to create a collection of some of my favorite songs," explains Mariah. "Several of them are very big hits and some are more obscure favorites of mine as well as fan faves."
At the core of this set is the extraordinary run of early RIAA gold, platinum and multi-platinum Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit singles that kept her phenomenal vocal artistry at the forefront of pop music consciousness for that first decade. Fourteen of those chart-toppers are included here:
1990: "Vision Of Love," "Love Takes Time" 1991: "I Don't Wanna Cry," "Emotions" (included here in its 12-Inch Club Mix) 1992: "I'll Be There" (featuring Trey Lorenz) 1993: "Dreamlover," "Hero" 1995: "Fantasy," "One Sweet Day" (Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men) 1996: "Always Be My Baby" 1997: "Honey" 1998: "My All" 1999: "Heartbreaker" (featuring Jay-Z); "Thank God I Found You" (featuring Joe & 98 Degrees)
Mariah Carey completists will appreciate that this ESSENTIAL contains four tracks newly chosen by Mariah herself for the occasion:
"Vanishing," Mariah's debut as a producer, from her self-titled debut album of 1990 "Close My Eyes," a confessional track from the Butterfly album, evoking her new freedom as a single woman in 1997; "The Roof (Mobb Deep Extended Version)," also from Butterfly, Mariah's first track with the songwriting-production duo Poke & Tone, aka the Trackmasters (Jean Claude Oliver and Samuel Barnes); "Bliss," from her next album, 1998's Rainbow, one of six tracks on that album that were co-written and co-produced by Mariah with the Flyte Tyme Productions team of Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Big Jim Wright.
In addition, Mariah has included two rare alternate remixes on this ESSENTIAL collection, both on disc one. "Emotions (12-inch Club Mix)," from 1991, the title track of Mariah's second studio album, is a remix of her record-setting fifth consecutive #1 hit single. "Anytime You Need A Friend (C + C Club Remix)," from her third studio album, 1993's Music Box, was remixed by her friends Robert Clivilles and David Cole of fellow Columbia Records group C + C Music Factory, who played such a crucial role as writers and producers on Mariah's early studio albums.
Mariah Carey's Cinderella storybook signing to Columbia Records in 1990 is entwined with the magic of that decade. At the very outset, she accomplished what no other pop artist had done in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, sending her first five consecutive singles to the #1 spot. Indeed, eight of her first ten singles hit the #1 spot between 1990 and 1993, and the decade would see Mariah place 15 hits at the top of the Hot 100 through 1999.
In 2005, Mariah earned her 17th #1 career single ("Don't Forget About Us"), tying one of the most enduring chart records in Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Three years later, Mariah surpassed Elvis with her 18th #1 Hot 100 hit ("Touch My Body"). Mariah is currently positioned as the only active recording artist in the 54 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

Mariah & Nick Doing 'Something Special' For Twins
Posted by Jonny on Monday, 23-Apr-2012, 11:29PM EDT
My, how time flies.
It seems like just yesterday that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were rejoicing over the arrival of #dembabies - and now, with twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe's first birthday just over a week away, the power couple is celebrating once again.
"It's amazing. It goes by so fast." Cannon, 31, told reporters at NBCUniversal‘s Press Day Wednesday at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, Calif.
Cannon is staying mum on specific details surrounding the momentous occasion on April 30, but he does promise that the day will be one to remember.
"We’re going away," he tells PEOPLE. "We’re taking a break. It’s going to be exciting. We’re doing something special and something unique."
In only a year’s time, Cannon and Carey, 43, have already witnessed many milestones associated with their children. "They’re trying to walk and I’m nervous because they're at that age when anything can happen," the America’s Got Talent host explains.
"My son has this thing where he loves banging his head and crushing stuff. Something new is happening every day."
And Cannon has something else to celebrate - having his health back! - following his January hospitalization and diagnosis of a Lupus-like autoimmune disease.
"I feel better than I've ever been. I'm in the best shape that I've ever been in," he says. "Since this whole thing has happened, I haven't had any salt, red meat, fast food. [I've only had] chicken and fish. I feel so great. I'm juicing a lot."

How Mariah Got Her Groove Back A year after having twins, the pop diva looks (and feels) better than ever. Here, she opens up about weight loss, wellness and Whitney. By Claire Connors
EVERY YEAR SINCE THEIR SURPRISE nuptials in 2008, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have renewed their vows on April 30. And 2012 will be no different. Except this time around, the couple will also be commemorating the first birthday of their twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe (or Roc and Roe, as the proud mother calls them). While the multiplatinum singer--she's sold more than 200 million records worldwide--is keeping the details of their combo celebration under wraps, she will say, "It's going to be big and fun!"
The party will mark the end of a year filled with physical and emotional challenges--a difficult pregnancy, Nick's diagnosis of lupus nephritus, and the loss of her dear friend Whitney Houston, with whom she recorded the chart-topper "When You Believe" in 1998. What helped Mariah get through the turmoil was focusing on her health. And it shows! Three months after giving birth, she started on the Jenny Craig program--which includes a personalized diet and workout plan--that helped her drop a whopping 30 pounds in six months.
Besides becoming Jenny Craig's new brand ambassador, Mariah has also joined forces with the American Heart Association to bring an important message to the masses: "I want to spread the word that you can live longer and better if you eat well and move more," she says. "I'm hoping people are inspired by my own journey and start taking the right steps toward being healthier."
To hear the latest about her family life and how she whipped her body into shape, read on.
Nick was hospitalized in January with kidney failure and then again in February with blood clots related to his autoimmune disease. How's he doing now? It was really frightening, but he's feeling much stronger and is definitely on the right track. He's taking better care of himself, eating a diet low in sodium and sugar, and getting more sleep.
He was still in the hospital when you heard the shocking news about Whitney. How have you been coping with her passing? I'm heartbroken and sad and still have trouble talking about it. I will say I loved her very much and was inspired by her. She was a beautiful human being whose legacy will live on for eternity.
Speaking of beautiful human beings...carrying those babies really put stress on your body. It did! Pregnancy was probably the best and hardest thing I'll ever go through. I know for a lot of women, it can be wonderful and relatively easy. But for me, it was like, "Okay, honey, do you have to do everything the hard way?" I felt like I was nine months pregnant the whole time I carried them. The coolest part was feeling these four arms and legs moving around inside me. But then I developed toxemia, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes, and it became really intense--to the point where I was put on complete bed rest.
How much weight did you gain? I put on around 70 pounds, but if you look at photos of me when I was pregnant, you'd say, "Wow, she gained 9,000 pounds!" A lot of it was water weight because I pretty much had head-to-toe edema, which is very painful. Luckily, all the swelling went away fairly quickly after the babies were born. Then I had about 30 more pounds to drop. I have such empathy for people who need to lose a lot of weight, because I know what they're going through. I remember thinking at the time, "I'll never look or feel the same again."
What made you pick Jenny Craig to help shed the weight? I've been on other diets before--my weight has fluctuated 15 to 20 pounds over the years. But I liked the structure of Jenny Craig and that I can prepare my own food along with eating the company's meals and snacks. For example, tonight I'm making grilled swordfish with steamed vegetables and a salad.
That sounds very sensible. Do you work out too? I used to be able to slim down just by exercising more, but that's changed. Since having the babies, I realize that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet. Today my workout routine is more getting and staying toned. And for me, that means either taking hour-long walks a few times a week or jumping in the pool three or four days a week to do 45 minutes of aquatic exercises.
How long did you wait to start exercising again? When you have a C-section, you're not supposed to do anything for at least six weeks. But because I was on bed rest for the last few months of the pregnancy, it took a couple of extra weeks for me to really start training. When I finally did, I was so off-kilter, I practically had to relearn how to walk in the pool. But once I got the hang of it, I realized I'm much stronger than I thought I was.
Were you always a swimmer? Yes, swimming is my favorite form of exercise, which is surprising since I almost drowned in the ocean when I was 6. It was scary, but it didn't traumatize me or deter me from going in again. My mother just put me back in the water and told me it would be fine. And it was.
Since we're on the subject of fears, you recently performed in public for the first time in a year. Were you nervous? I had to put everything on hold while I was pregnant, so I was a little anxious. But it was a lot of fun to get back on stage. I felt like I'd never left. One interesting thing was that all the hormonal changes seemed to have made my voice stronger. At one point during my pregnancy, I recorded with Tony Bennett for his Duets II album. He wanted a long, belted-out note at the end, and I wasn't sure I could do it, but then I did! Afterward he said, "I'm not used to singing with a trio."
Having twins is double the work. Are you able to sleep? My schedule has always been the opposite of most people's. I sleep during the day and wake up at 10 at night, which is why I've been able to adapt to the babies' schedule so well. I'm actually sitting here debating whether I should do a 10 p.m. or a 4 a.m. workout today. If I exercise in the morning, I'll be able to puree some pears and feed them breakfast.
You really sound like a hands-on mom. I'm lucky because I have a nanny, but caring for the twins is something I take seriously. I don't just sweep into the nursery and go "Hello!" Well, actually I do do that sometimes. They like it when I swirl in, singing "Always Be My Baby." It's their song. They expect a performance from me.
So they're already music fans? They are! Roc and Roe have been listening to gospel and hip-hop since they were in my belly. My song "Fantasy" was playing when they were born. Now when they hear it, they smile.
On that note, when will we hear new music from you? I've started writing songs for a new album, which I hope will come out in 2012. Getting back in the studio and making music again--which I truly love doing--is the best way to end this crazy year.

Beginning his career at the ripe age of 18, Mr. Boatman has worked in Hollywood as a writer, editor, lighting director, assistant cameraman, camera operator, director of photography, and director. "My love affair with the camera began at a very early age, sitting beside my father in the darkroom, developing countless exposures while learning the wisdom of light and shadow." From there, his fascination accelerated rapidly thrusting me into an endless quest to 'conquer the image.' He has been fortunate to have worked with some of Hollywood's biggest and most successful Cinematographers, and Directors of all time.
After following the trail of employment on a multitude of independent features that blossomed in the nineteen-eighties, Bill Boatman oscillated back and forth with the music video world with the list of acts to include; Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi, Don Henley, Prince, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Snoop Dog, Usher, and the Rolling Stones among many, many more.
One of the greatest living voices of our time- Mariah Carey is legendary. The multiple Grammy winner is the most successful selling female artist in music history, and the most record breaking. The sex symbol, model, and gifted actress holds the record for most straight number one singles and albums ever. Along with a sweet personality and charm, and elegant taste, the superstar has a vocal range that is stunning, lending to the power of her work and her performances. In April 2008, she eclipsed Elvis Presley's seventeen number one singles with eighteen on the top of the charts. Crafting her own music, Mariah Carey truly is one the world's most amazing voices.
In 1994, Billy Boatman returned as Camera operator for five seasons of the drama hit series NYPD Blue. It was there that he was able to gain and absorb the wisdom and knowledge of screenwriter wizard David Milch and Steven Bochco before being summoned back to music video world with the request from Mariah Carey to be her personal visual consultant. Mariah enlisted Bill into the position as her personal Director of Photography, Still Photographer, Lighting Director, Cameraman, and music video Director. In fact, Bill Boatman has had his career recognition in music continue, by shooting and directing Mariah's hit videos where he currently still takes the call to duty, and shooting by her side for some of her most intimate moments. His photo galleries from beach calendars to candid pictures including her wedding have been published worldwide including on the cover pages of 'People Magazine' among more.
In 2001, Bill Boatman completed a short film entitled, "LAST CHANCE", which went on to receive multitudes of awards at over 30 film festivals including Telluride, Sundance, Palm Springs International, New York, and London, to name a few.
Bill Boatman's screenwriting credits include "TOUGH LUCK," a riveting thriller released in 2003 theatrically starring Arrmande Assante, and Norman Reedus. A massive talent as a screenwriter, director, director of photographer, and still photographer, William Boatman's talent and achievements are quickly rising.

Complex Music's "Best Albums of the Complex Decade"
Posted by Jonny on Friday, 06-Apr-2012, 2:28PM EDT
Complex Music has counted down the "100 Best Albums of the Complex Era." The Emancipation of Mimi ranks at number 50, and this write-up is included:
50. Mariah Carey, Emancipation of Mimi (2005) Label: Island
After picking up the pieces from Glitter and her failed contemporary-pop album, Charmbracelet, Mariah introduced fans to her alter-ego Mimi in her 10th album, The Emancipation of Mimi. Once she set Mimi free, it brought back the R&B soulful songstress on tracks like "Fly Like A Bird," "We Belong Together" and "Mine Again," and became the best-selling album in the U.S. in 2005 and her best-selling in a decade.
With appearances from Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg, Pharrel, Twista, and Nelly, Mimi revived her career with singles like "It's Like That" and "Shake It Off." Rumor has it Mimi and hubby Nick Cannon listened to "We Belong Together" immediately after the birth of their twins... after playing "Fantasy," of course.

Mariah Carey: Still More No. 1 Singles Than Elvis
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 05-Apr-2012, 6:50PM EDT
Four years ago this week, Mariah Carey made music history by scoring the 18th No. 1 single of her career. Think about that for a second: If you're reading this, Mariah Carey has recorded more No. 1 singles than women you've had sex with (a lot more). What makes the feat even more incredible is that she beat the record for a solo artist set by a true pop music titan -- the King of rock and roll himself, Elvis Presley.
Well, probably, anyway. Elvis recorded a bunch of early singles before the Billboard "Hot 100" era, and most of them were double-sided 45s that contained two smash hits.
Some hardcore fans argue hard that Elvis only had 14 No. 1s, some say 17 and some say 18, depending on the friendless loser you're arguing with. Simply put, it was a different time, one that's hard to compare to Mariah's heyday.
Still, though: 18. That ain't bad. As far as the Associated Press was concerned, the Diva took down the King. Or did she?
Is there really any non-hilarious comparison to be made between the careers of these two top hitmakers? In 1956, Elvis drastically changed the course of popular culture all over the world. In 1994, Mariah drastically changed her hairstyle. Can it be seriously argued that Ms. Mimi is the bigger, better chart-topper?
Let's find out, shall we? We won't try to match up every hit each artist had -- that would be stupid, and we ain't got that kind of time. Instead, let's just compare the highlights to find out which hitmaker really reigns supreme.
Their First Time -- "Vision of Love" vs. "Heartbreak Hotel": A comparison between the two artists' first No. 1 hits is pretty much a slam-dunk win for the King. Not that "Vision of Love" was a bad introduction for Mariah, mind -- a smash-hit chart-topper on your first try out of the gate is pretty awesome. "Vision" featured everything that people love about her: A smooth R&B beat, her inhuman range and spandex clothes in the video.
But come on. Without "Heartbreak Hotel," "Vision of Love" would have never existed and Mariah would have never made it out of church. Singers are still getting laid by covering this song more than 50 years after it hit No. 1. "Heartbreak Hotel" sits at the head table at reunions of classic rock and roll records, and it's as well-known in Shanghai, China, as Memphis, Tennessee. Tally one for the King, and let's move on.
Score: Mariah 0, Elvis 1
The Comebacks -- "We Belong Together" vs. "Suspicious Minds": This matchup is more interesting. Both artists' careers stretch over decades, and they weren't always on top. In 2005, Mariah looked like she might be done after her movie megaflop Glitter and a bout of debilitating "exhaustion." Behind the Music was licking its chops.
But psyche! "We Belong Together" became her first No. 1 single in five years and spent 14 weeks at the top of the chart, netting her two Grammys. It was one of the biggest smashes of her career, a great song featuring superlative emoting that's ideal for singing along to on the radio.
"Suspicious Minds" was... a good Elvis song. Sure, it was a major milestone in his career. It was his first No. 1 in seven years, sealing his comeback from Hollywood hell. But it only spent one lousy week at the top of the charts, and it's got none of the paradigm-shifting spark of his early tunes. I'm giving this one to Mariah.
Score: Mariah 1, Elvis 1
The Record Setters -- "Touch My Body" vs. "Burning Love": Here's where things get a tad controversial. "Burning Love" peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100, but it went No. 1 on Cashbox's Top 40 Charts in 1972, and to a lot of Elvis diehards, that totally counts, bringing his tally to 18. For the sake of argument, I'm inclined to give it to him. "Burning Love" was the King's biggest hit of the '70s, and it's a rockin' tune that sums up that era of his career nicely.
Like "Burning Love," "Touch My Body" is a sexually charged love song, both artists' shared forte. The 18th chart-topper from each features the singers at a point in their careers that's probably past their prime, but still powerful. It's a close one, but "Burning Love" gets the nod.
Score: Mariah 1, Elvis 2
Sexy Time -- "Honey" vs. "A Big Hunk O' Love": Now we're talkin.' Sexuality is a major part of both Elvis' and Mariah's appeal. Elvis was so hot in the '50s that TV shows only filmed him from the waist up. "A Big Hunk O' Love" went No. 1 in 1959, and it was Elvis at his hip-swiveling best. You can almost hear the still-echoing screams from teenage girls as he sings lyrics like "You're just a natural born beehive/ Filled with honey to the top/ Well, I ain't greedy baby/ All I want is all you got."
But for teenage boys watching MTV in 1997, "Honey" kicked the dogcrap out of Elvis. After playing the good girl for the early years of her career, this song was a true eruption for Mariah, showcasing a sexier, more street edge to her image and sound. Her voice practically drips from the speakers, and the music video was unforgettable. Elvis may have had the moves, but he's never inspired much grinding in the club; at least not in my lifetime. Marry me, Mariah!
Score: Mariah 2, Elvis 2
The Big One -- "One Sweet Day" vs. "All Shook Up:" It all comes down to this: The biggest hits of each artist's career. There's no fairer way to judge a hitmaker than by the hugest, chart-topping smash they ever produced, right? For Mariah Carey, that distinction falls to "One Sweet Day," her inescapable collabo with Boyz II Men that spent a record 16 weeks atop the Hot 100. Somewhere, this song is being played right now as the first dance at some wedding you weren't invited to, even though it's about dead people.
Elvis didn't need any help to achieve the longest-charting No. 1 of his career. "All Shook Up" spent a ridiculous 30 weeks in the Top 100 and eight at the top. It also happened to become one of the most iconic songs in pop music history, a feat "One Sweet Day" could never come close to matching. Mariah and the Boyz sang their hearts out, but their combined melisma can't touch the power in Elvis' humming alone in this song. Elvis wins, folks. Duh.
Final Score: Mariah 2, Elvis 3
So, despite her 18 No. 1s, turns out Mariah Carey is no Elvis Presley. But then again, nobody else is, either. There can only be one King of rock and roll. Not quite known for her modesty, Mariah even admitted it herself four years ago when she smashed his record:
"I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionized music but also changed the world," she told The Associated Press. "That's a completely different era and time ... I'm just feeling really happy and grateful."
Well said, Ms. Carey. No need to hang your head. You've got more No. 1 singles under your belt than any of your contemporaries dare dream of. So what if they didn't help spawn an entire new youth movement? You've more than earned your place in the music-history books.
And hey, two more No. 1 singles and you tie the Beatles! Don't stop now.
Thiago sent us in a review and a photo from the party!
The party was amazing really festive just like Mariah would like! They played most of her hits like: "Touch my Body," "It's Like That," "Heartbreaker," "Fantasy," "Emotions" ... Actually there (were) 2 dance floors, the biggest was playing the remixes and the other one was playing the originals. One of the biggest moment of the party was the cover show, they "sang" "I Still Believe" and the other one (I don't remember for sure) but I think that they "sang" "Migrate"...
Another great moment of the night was the quiz about Mariah Carey, that a lot of lambs got gifts from Universal Music when they answered the questions correctly! So the night was AMAZING not just because the celebration of Mariah's anniversary, but because the fact that was a really good opportunity to all the lambs be together having a good time (listening Mariah Carey`s songs, of course!)
São Paulo Fan Party
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 05-Apr-2012, 12:01AM EDT
Mariah's Brazilian lambs know how to party, and they delivered this past weekend in São Paulo, where they got together to celebrate Mariah's anniversary!
Bruno shared his review:
This party happened 3/31 in Cambridge Hotel, a very traditional hotel in Sãao Paulo, which has been closed since 2002 and had guests such as Nat King Cole. We had important DJs and also Lambs in the line up like Ciro Iadocico, Berg Flores, Johnny Sesta and Glauber Monteiro.
There was a croud but it really seemed a BDay party because people really know each other. We danced all night long with the best Mariah remixes and we celebrated 3.27 with a very sweet drink called Mariah!
People made new friends and new contacts for those who collects Mariah CD's and singles. The sun came up and many lambs still dancing! Everybody (including me) went away wanting a weekly or monthly Mariah fan party. We knew that at the same time they had a Mariah's BDay party at Rio, that shows that Brazil really loves Mariah! And I ... "I'll be loving you long time"!
There was a contest on Facebook where fans could vote on a Mariah remix to be played at the party. The remix suggestion with the most "likes" won a package including a VIP pass, poster, Mariah mug, and a fan-made DVD of Mariah's famous 2010 Barretos concert. The winner of the contest was Anderson and the prize is pictured below:

Dem Babies' First Birthday... In Paris?
Posted by Jonny on Monday, 02-Apr-2012, 4:49PM EDT
Leave it to Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon to throw their twins a first birthday party for family and friends to remember - even if dem babies won't.
While Carey and Cannon are remaining a bit tight-lipped on details, I was able to get the America's Got Talent host to spill a big hint...
"It's up in the air right now but it's probably not going to be in the States," he said at the Kids' Choice Awards. "We are going to take it overseas."
When I suggested a party at the Eiffel Tower, Cannon smiled a very big smile. "You're good," he said. "You're good."
The twins, Monroe and Moroccan, turn 1 on April 30, also Carey and Cannon's fourth wedding anniversary. They reportedly renewed their wedding vows recently for the second time.
Cannon also has other babies on his mind - Four Count, a boy band he signed last year to his Ncredible Entertainment music label.
"I remember a few years ago walking Justin Bieber down this carpet and no one knew who he was," Cannon said. "But I knew he was going to be the next big sensation and I feel the same way about Four Count."
Maybe they'll perform at the birthday party.
P.S. I'm happy to report that Cannon is in good health. He said, "I'm doing great. I feel great."
