Nick Cannon: "Mariah Would Be the Best Mom"
Posted by Lynn on Saturday, 28-Aug-2010, 7:49PM EDT
As pregnancy speculation swirls, Nick Cannon will only confirm this – he's ready to have a baby with wife Mariah Carey.
"She's very nurturing," Cannon, 29, told PEOPLE at the US Open's Arthur Ashe Kids Day event in New York Saturday. "She's nurturing with me and makes me breakfast at anytime and that's my favorite food. It would be like 3 o'clock in the morning and she will still make me waffles. She'll be the best mom."
If Cannon does become a father, he plans to learn from his own parents. "I want to raise a child like the way I was brought up," he says. "Be someone who is stern but still fun loving and knows how to have a good time."
When asked if he would prefer to have a girl or a boy, the host of America's Got Talent says he "just wants something that is healthy" but is a little nervous on how to approach certain situations associated with a boy and girl.
"It's great to have a girl until she turns into a teenager. Then you have to worry about every other boy in the neighborhood and that would freak me out," he says. "With a boy, I'd be worrying about him breaking his arms and his legs. I was that type of kid. I was a daredevil so I'd be having to worry about that."
"I love kids. I'm all about kids!" Nick Cannon gushed at the 2010 Arthur Ashe Kids' Day in Flushing, N.Y. on Saturday. OK, so maybe he was referring to the kids who were there to learn about tennis ahead of the US Open. But when Wonderwall caught up with the "America's Got Talent" host about music and life with Mariah Carey, he made it pretty clear that he's ready to be a dad.
On the latest rumors that Mariah may be pregnant: "People have been saying the same thing for like two and a half years ... She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can."
On how he'll raise his kids: "I want to be brought up the way I was brought up. I got to be someone who's stern but still fun loving and knows how to have a good time ... You have to make sure that you ground them. Maybe I should go let them live with my grandmother so they don't experience all the craziness."
Would he be cool with having twins? "Yeah! Octomom it! Have nine at once. Whatever type of life God blesses you with, you have to take it and appreciate it from there... I always see every day you wake up as a blessing. And everything else is icing. To have the success or the luxuries -- automobiles, nice clothing -- that's stuff I never even fathomed. I grew up in a household where a good meal is what we really appreciated. For my life to be where it is now, I'm so grateful that even if it was taken away, I would be just as happy that I got the chance to experience it."
On life with Mariah: "We just have fun together! We wake up every morning just loving life and loving each other. Whatever comes at you is a plus. [Our perfect date is] just hanging out watching DVDs and eating popcorn. 'Coming To America,' Eddie Murphy movies."
What's next for Mariah? "She's finishing up her album in LA. It's great. It's a Christmas album. It's going to be phenomenal. She has a lot of big surprises. I think they wanted her to be on 'Idol.' She definitely would be the perfect person to judge singing -- she's one of the greatest singers of all time."
Anything else you want to tell us about all that baby talk, Nick? "Nah. I'll let her do it when she's ready to do it. She'll talk when she's ready to talk."

Flashback Video: Mariah and Trey Ride a Bike, 1993
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 26-Aug-2010, 9:49PM EDT
Mariah can be seen driving a quad bike with Trey Lorenz in the video clip below from her NBC Thanksgiving Special, "Here Is Mariah Carey," in 1993. It aired directly before their "I'll Be There" performance. This video was only seen on the TV broadcast and for some reason, was not included on the VHS/DVD.
Mariah: "Trey Lorenz and I are really close friends. He used to be one of my backup singers and I wrote and produced some songs for his album. At Christmastime, I'd like to go down to the Police Athletic League and spend some time with the inner city kids, just hanging out and singing Christmas carols."

Broadway Collaborator on New Mariah Album
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 25-Aug-2010, 8:39AM EDT
Mariah has been working hard in the studio with producer Randy Jackson. She's even brought in an unusual collaborator: Broadway's Marc Shaiman, who wrote "Hairspray" and dozens of hits. Shaiman is also a five time Oscar nominee. This is really interesting since Shaiman could be fashioning some colossal material for Mariah. Whoever came up with that idea was really thinking outside the box. Shaiman most recently worked with Bette Midler on a great song about late producer Arif Mardin which appears on an album called "The Greatest Ears in the World." I wish more people could hear it.
Mariah told me in an email last week that Shaiman was her favorite collaborator since her days with Walter Afanasieff. "He's so talented and can hear the chords in my head."
ABOUT MARC SHAIMAN Marc Shaiman won both a Tony and a Grammy Award for the score to the smash hit Broadway Musical Hairspray. He has been nominated for The Academy Award five times, for the films Sleepless In Seattle, The American President, The First Wives Club, Patch Adams, and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. In 2002, Marc was honored with the "Hollywood Outstanding Achievement in Music-In-Film" award at the 69th annual Hollywood Film Festival.
Marc has composed, adapted and arranged music, served as music supervisor and written lyrics for over 40 other films, including When Harry Met Sally, Beaches, Sister Act, City Slickers, The Addams Family, A Few Good Men, In & Out and George of The Jungle.
He has been nominated two times for the Emmy Award, and is an actual Emmy Award winner for co-writing Billy Crystal's Oscar Medleys. Besides having won for Hairspray, Marc has been nominated for two other Grammy Awards for his work with Harry Connick, Jr. His gold, platinum, multi-platinum and Grammy winning albums include: South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Bette Midler's Beaches, Some People's Lives, For The Boys, Bathhouse Betty, Harry Connick Jr's When Harry Met Sally and We Are In Love.
Mariah Amongst Top 10 New Yorkers On Twitter
Posted by Lynn on Tuesday, 24-Aug-2010, 8:24PM EDT
The New York Daily News has compiled a list of the Top 10 New Yorkers representing the Big Apple on Twitter and Mariah has taken the number two spot being voted "MISS CONGENIALITY" for her close bond with her loyal fans!
Why she's on the list: Mariah has been accused of being a cold-hearted diva in the past, but online she's all about the love. The singer actively embraces her fans, asking them what songs she should play at concerts, which fragrance of hers they like the best and what career moves they want her to make next. She frequently assures her followers — whom she calls her "Lambs" — that she adores them.
Sample tweet: "Tonite was tuff 4 me 4 personal reasons, but U got me thru! L4L"
Fan Photos/Reviews/Videos: Mariah in Barretos, Brazil

FAN REVIEWS Vinicius (MDJ Correspondent) - "It was really, really hard to enter the arena. After hours we finally entered and everybody was crazy waiting for the show to start. When the 'Butterfly' intro started I knew that it was the best day of my life!! Mariah entered the stage with a princess black dress and a HUGE smile on face. She seemed really happy to be there. Her voice is incredible live and that's why I love this woman!! One of the highlights of the show was 'I Still Believe.' She said she was surprised by our choice in internet cause she didn't sing this song for years. And was amazing, PERFECT! And 'Hero' when we put a lot of white baloons in the air. She is funny!! I wish everybody could understand what she was saying. She made a lot of jokes when got lost on 'Always Be My Baby' and 'Dreamlover,' talked about how the moon was beautiful and how much she loves Brazil. Also apologized to lambs that were in front of the hotel that day for not meeting them. Thanked us a lot and said the audience was incredible. During the show, Mariah got lots of gifts from the audience, always sending kisses and reading signs. I was in heaven! It was really hard for me to keep MDJ updated but I did my best. Mariah made me and a lot of Brazilians happy, reaaaaally happy!! Thank you Mariah!! We love you more and we're always waiting for another visit."
Luiz (MDJ Correspondent) - "One night only in Brazil for the one and only Mariah Carey! I flew 1,770 miles from my hometown, Florianopolis right to Barretos to live one of the best nights of my life. Despite the delay, the whole concert was worth every while I spent waiting in the line. 50,000 people can't lie: Mariah Carey is absurdly loved in Brazil and now she's completely sure of that. I felt this in her eyes when the lambs from the VIP area blew the ballons and raised them up as she sang 'Hero.' She didn't expect that. I got chills! And still have whenever I remember this episode. Mariah was amazingly graceful, talked to her fans in the end of every song, read the signs fans made, etc. As for her voice: Oh, My GOD! That golden instrument she was given by GOD was at its TOP! Highs and lows perfectly reached. And she's cute even when she missed the lyrics for 'Dreamlover' (my personal anthem). This is the second time I attend to her concert. The last one was at Oi Fashion Rocks but she performed only three songs and now, with this full concert on my "Mariah's-things-to-do task list" I am fullfilled. For all the fans who could make their dreams come true by travelling to Barretos to attend this concert: you are definately blessed. This was history. And I (on behalf of each and every Brazilian fan) want to thank Mariah so much for this great gift she gave us: herself, her voice and this concert."
Reinaldo Araujo - "I won tickets in the contest from MariahCarey.com. I went to the show and I met several lambs. The lambs of Mariah are the best. I made friends with people from Rio de Janeiro and other states. I found lambs from Argentina and Chile. It was a perfect evening, the audience was impeccable. Mariah made everyone emotional, made the arena shake. Mariah's show was without doubt the best international spectacle of all times in Brazil."
Victor Ferraz - "SURREAL, that's how I describe last Saturday night! Lucky as never before-but totally deserved lol-I WON a pair of tickets for the concert from her official website. I spent weeks deciding how I was going to get there, and all that stuff, and I ended up traveling with my family for 5 hours by car! Barretos is a small city but the place was HUGE and the beautiful arena was just a small part of it! I was impressed by the whole thing - the stage, the lights, the place and last but absolutely not least, by Mariah herself! Andre Pacheco attended the show with me and we waited for long 5 hours inside the arena, until MC finally came on stage! We saw the rodeo and just after midnight, the rest of the fans could get into there, then the fireworks to warm up the audience (you can see my video here), it was so exciting! Mariah arrived late and after 1 hour backstage, she came on and the crowd got crazy! She was very festive, talkative and seemed to be really excited and inspired, singing with passion the whole evening! Most people there couldn't understand a word she was saying, but I was over the 'beautiful moon' listening to her talking to us, and pronouncing BRASIL like we do! lol While Trey sang 'Rock With You,' Andre and I moved to the other side of the crowd, as the real fans were there and we were around bleak people in the audience, who weren't very festive! 'I Want To Know What Love Is' was even louder than 'Hero' in the crowd. I was totally hoarse after the end. I had a blast and I'd do that all over again if she decides to come back! Meeting the lambs was also incredible and I couldn't believe we were living that very unique moment! As it wasn't enough, she retweeted the comment I left on her picture! OMG! She sounded and looked amazing, with Daydream flavour, and I'll never ever forget that experience!"
Frederico Cezar - "After 13 hours of waiting and then one more hour in a huge confusion, the gates opened and there I was on the VIP floor. Mariah started with 'Daydream Interlude,' While she was singing 'Shake It Off' she asked the crowd, 'How you doin'?' in Portuguese, 'Como vai?' It was so nice. Her voice was SO AMAZING. I saw lots of fans crying during 'I Still Believe' but I didn't cause I was too shocked. The whole concert was great though I was expecting more, because the singers and the band also rehearsed 'Don't Forget About Us' and 'Honey.' I LOVE MC! 'Take me wherever you want me to go... Whatever.'"
Ana Paula - "Words cannot express what true fans feel when they see their idol right in front of them. I had a tough day too and almost couldn't make it to the show, but thank God Mariah was late and I got there in the second the butterfly intro started. When she came out, all the problems disappeared and it was like we were all daydreaming in this fantasy kingdom. I couldn't believe it. I cried the entire concert. First when everybody was singing along the 'Butterfly' intro, then when everybody was jumping to the 'Daydream' interlude beats, then when everybody started clapping and screaming her name in a type of choir that made her ask someone on stage to record that moment for her. Then she announced 'I Still Believe' and no one could believe she really did it for the fans. But the best moments were at the end when 'Hero' got the whole VIP section with white balloons in hands and 'I Want to Know What Love Is' receiving a shining neon sticks rain. It was AMAZING! The crowd sang every line of every song along with her. She was so comfortable and funny and her vocals were so clear. It was a moment for us. An unforgettable moment. She was really feeling her fans and that made everything perfect. Even though you kept repeating it, Mariah, I have to disagree with you. It wasn't just a dream. It wasn't just a fantasy. It was one of the greatest real experiences for any Brazilian lamb who waited 20 long years for this moment. Now we're addicted to it and counting the days for the next hit of your love."
Thiago - "Her voice was spectacular. It's certainly an issue between we lambs during the after-show meetings. We are still amazed by how she performed well in every sense. There was a moon there in the middle of the stage, making the night even more beautiful for her to sing. She just killed everything, EVERY LITTLE THING. As 'Hero' was playing we lambs took out some white ballons JUST for the 'Hero' performance. When she start singing it, we just took off from our pockets and raised them higher and higher while she was singing. I still can't believe in everything I saw."
Johnny Sesta - "The concert was amazing, I cry in all songs. Mariah's a legend!"
Rafael Silva Paulo - "Mariah was amazing, for many years not to see so relaxed on stage. Her voice was incredible, and realize its great excitement. Everyone sang loudly all the songs. 'I Still Believe' was too much, all very thrilled, this was the big surprise of the show. In 'Hero' raised white balloons giving the audience a great effect. Mariah was thrilled to see the great love that the fans have Brasileitos for it. 'I Want To Know What Love Is' was very emotional, everyone sang very loudly. Mariah rocked!"
Camila - "We arrived at Barretos Arena around 7pm, and we could see a lot of fans walking around, having fun together. They were amazed, because they were able to listen to the sound check earlier that day. The arena was huge. Outside the arena, enterprises that were supporting the event prepared special clubs and bars for people to 'warm up.' We had both VIP tickets (for the main arena) as we had the Brahma tickets for the part surrounding the stage. As I'm a short one and as the stage was too distant from the crowd at the Arena, we decided to remain at Brahma area. We could see the stage clearly, but of course those who would stand in front of the stage would eventually get to see MC even closer. Before finally entering the Arena, we could see MC's backing vocals entering the stage. They stopped by the fans and took pictures, as well as the dancers. They were pretty nice to everyone. One of the dancers took a pic with me using his camera, so I hope he sends me the pic whenever possible! lol. As we entered the arena, we could notice most people were there because of MC and not because of the rodeo, lol. While the rodeo thing was happening, MC's dancers jumped on the stage to have some fun, while warming up and taking pics of the rodeo. In fact, the rodeo took a long time to come to an end. By the end, fireworks literally painted the sky in many different colors. It was beautiful to see it. As Mariah entered the stage, the arena was packed. Totally packed. I'm used to seeing a lot of events happening inside soccer stadiums here in Brazil as I got to see Beyonce's last February, but I must say, the Barretos Arena was packed! Mariah was really sweet to the audience. After her 3rd song she said 'thank you for the gifts you left at the hotel!' (I was amazed, of course, lol) and during the concert, she interacted to people a lot. She said she was 'feeling like a princess,' she also read a girl's sign (Karina) - it read she wanted MC to know that she existed and MC told her 'Hey, I know that you exist, you are in front of me and you are beautiful!' During 'Always Be My Baby,' she praised the fans that were outside the Hotel by saying 'this is the song I heard you lambs singing outside the hotel! Can I say lambs? Nowadays we never know what we can say... so yes, You Are My Lambs!' Highlights of the concert: 'I Still Believe' (TY so much for that!), 'Hero,' 'We Belong Together,' 'I'll Be There' and MC praising the 'beautiful moon tonight on this beautiful sky.' Trey's version of Rock W/ You was also great! The 'lambs' prepared MC 2 special surprises, one during the song 'Hero' and one during 'I Want To Know What Love Is.' During 'Hero,' the lambs were holding white balloons and as the song finished, they just let the ballons fill the sky. As for 'I Want To Know What Love Is,' they threw neon lights to the air, and it was just amazing to see. I will certainly never forget this concert, neither the week I was able to experience. Im not saying this as a fan, but as a person that was able to receive MC's attention and felt the dignity which she treats her fans. Thank You so much, Mariah! Thanks for receiving our gifts inside the Hotel as well. If I could I'd do it all over again. Few people know, but Im a fan since I was 10 and her songs helped me go through my heart surgery when I was 14. Hope you come back soon for a nice concert in the City! Barretos was far for everyone! I'm sure as she comes back to the city of Sao Paulo, for a concert at Credicard Hall Arena or at Rio more people will come by to appreciate her talent."
Sergio Lage - "My name is Sergio, I'm 21 years old and I live in Guaruja City. I traveled eight hours to see Mariah, who traveled on the bus had fans all over the country, we queued for over three hours, we pass heat, cold. Before the show, took the police to let us enter the stage, but in the end everything went well, I'll never forget that day. I realized a dream, Mariah looked like an angel on stage, I would go back in time to be able to live that moment again. I hope she enjoyed the Brazil and come back every year, the Brazil stopped to see Mariah... Mariah is perfect, Brazilians love it!"
Guilherme Cabral - "I'm Guilherme from Rio. The show was sooooo fantastic, Mariah's voice was taking over the arena and making people cry all the time (myself included). I really hope that Mariah can come back soon! Brazil loves her very much!"
Luhkaz - "The show was amazing, when I got in the arena, I saw my dream coming true and it was a big emotion... I cried a lot. And when Mariah said that she heard us singing 'Always Be My Baby' for her in front of the hotel, I remembered my 15 hours in front of the hotel on the first day, plus 5 hours on the second day in front of the hotel, plus 8 hours on a bus going to Barretos, plus 15 hours in line... were the best things that I did for Mariah and I'd do it again and again." [Check Luhkaz' adventure to see Mariah here]
André Pacheco - "I spent 20 hours inside a bus but I managed to get there nice and very excited to finally see her on stage. Fans from USA maybe don't understand how the concert was important to us. The three times she came here before, she performed only on TV or in private events. But last time was different: it was a full concert, live. My heart pumped harder as each second went through. Each moment Mariah's music served me as soundtrack popped in my head. There was no way I could hold the anticipation and emotion. When 'Butterfly Intro/Daydream Interlude' started to play, I felt that a dream was coming true. Fans were ecstatic. It was our night, an hour and half of her singing to us, of her talking to us... She was ours. Our Mariah Carey saying the name of our country and emotional for being here. I was touched by the new arrangements for some songs. Mariah didn't face it as some other performance, but as a special moment side to side to fans so needy of her presence. 'My All' was one of the top moments for me. In 'Always Be My Baby,' she kidded with us, but 'I Still Believe,' which was very successful here and is played in the radio until today, almost brought me to tears. The last part was the most remarkable. I don't like 'Hero,' but seeing Mariah singing it live and from a few meters moved me. I remembered how tired I was, with no sleep and with my legs hurting. I was there for her, and somehow, she was there for me and those hysterical fans. I cried for the first time. I cried as well because it was the end... it was getting over. However, when she came back to the stage and sang 'I Want To Know What Love Is' was even more magical. Her version is superb and since it was released I listen to it nearly everyday. Everybody was her choir, thrilled with her version live. And know that Brazil was the only country in the world that made that song successful tasted good. It was our song, like she was saying: Brazil, this song is yours. It was a magical night. The best gift I ever received. The achievement of a dream that stood for 10 years. Mariah Carey. Mimi. Emancipated, energized, imperfect. Diva, star, human."
Vitor Henrique - "Mariah was going with that fabulous clothes of a princess, had the perfect voice made me the happiest person in the world at that time did worth every hour in the queue and at the hotel door, I just want agradeseria her for being the so perfect that I love so much.
Rodrigo Filgueiras - "There are no words to describe this show. Mariah was amazing and I am so happy to watch her. My life must return to normal haha because since after the show I just cry cry and cry! Funny that I did not feel that all emotion at Fashion Rocks last year. I guess because it is the first full show I watched. It is a pity that this dream lasts too little. We've been waiting this concert for such a long time and although Barretos was far for everybody, I do feel every fan out there left Barretos within the sensation that they were just able to experience the best moment on their lifes. Mariah finished her concert leaving a taste of "I do want much more of this" to every lamb out there."
Karina Tomaz - "I would love to share here the best hours of my life, a story that will always remain in my memory, never to be forgotten. Mariah Carey in Brazil was my best present! Beautiful to see thousands of people with so much happiness in a show, it really was perfect! All this makes my love for Mariah increase, as so many other fans, the love she sings, talks and expresses itself is unique, sincere and true. For me, the most exciting moment of the show was when she read the poster I made for her, saying: 'Mariah, want you to know that I EXIST and I LOVE YOU,' so sweet she replied: 'Of course I know that you exist, you are in front of me and you're beautiful.' A magical moment and happy! After that she sang 'We Belong Together,' threw a rose smiling and looking at me. Mariah is an angel. May God bless her ways forever."
Vivian - "We've waited for so long to see Mariah personaly that on the days before she arrived in Brazil so many of us couldn't even eat or sleep properly! On Thursday, August 19th, finally our dream came true! She arrived at Sao Paulo and stayed at the Fasano Hotel! That was a very exciting moment for all the fans! We started screaming her name, and crying at the same time! So many just couldn't believe that they were really seeing Mariah Carey! She was so beautiful and kind to all the fans! Her performance in Barretos was awesome! The lambs that couldn't be there saw the videos with excitement, wishing to be there too! She is AMAZING that's why we love her so much! We are praying and waiting for another stunning performance here! Thanks for coming MIMI! PLEASE COME BACK TO BRAZIL TO SEE US AGAIN ! WE LOVE YOU!"
Danilo - "I live in Assis, SP in a small town, about a 3 hours from Barretos, went alone by car, with faith and courage, because I did not know any lambs here in my city. I was there that night got the time the show ended, the gates were not opened until she left Barretos, and when she arrived, we were already inside the arena, so I have not seen, or took photo of her, but when the show ended I went in the back of the arena and talked with some security and they put me in there. I could hardly believe it! I talked extensively with Trey. He is very simple and fun. He took me to Mariah's dressing room that was locked. I believe I was the first person who came there after she left because her perfume was still in the air, and all those air fresheners as well. Trey very nicely ordered me to sit on the furniture and had taken my photos. Trey also told me I could pick up the set list that was on the dressing table. I was very happy! I believe I've only done it in Barretos, was very exciting... will be stored forever in my heart."
FAN VIDEOS Below is a video that Alexandre made with the fan book that he, Alis, Carol and Thiago gave to Mariah the day she arrived at Fasano Hotel. Alexandre also put 'I Still Believe' on it that Mariah performed at Barretos.

Fan runs away, Peruvian crosses border to see Mariah
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 23-Aug-2010, 7:12PM EDT
Fans in love with Mariah Carey travel many miles to go to Barretos for the North-American singer's show
Barretos, 21/08/2010 15h03 - An 18-year-old student from the state of Minas Gerais ran away from home on his birthday and a young Peruvian crosses the border. All because of love for Mariah Carey. The fans of the North-American singer were in line at the beginning of this Saturday afternoon at Parque do Peão, where the singer will make a performance tonight. They say any craziness is worth to get close to the R&B diva. Mariah is one of the main attractions of the party, which will go on until August 29.
Fred Cezar, an 18-year-old student, left home in Ouro Branco, in the state of Minas Gerais, on the morning of August 20th. It was his birthday and a party was set to celebrate the occasion. Without his parents' permission, he left the city by bus and went to Barretos. "It's for my 18th birthday celebration. My mom only found out when I was almost getting here," he says. He was one of the first in line at the beginning of the afternoon.
The fans had to face a very hot day at Parque do Peão. Some were using umbrellas, others were looking for areas less exposed to the sun. Nothing that could turn down the excitement of the group.
"For what I feel about Mariah, I could do more, much more," says Elói Filho da Silva Nascimento, human resources assistant, 18 years old. "We go through so much in life that is worth spending a day in the sun to see a goddess," adds the English teacher Rodrigo Nascimento de Oliveira, 26.
Elói Nascimento came from Fortaleza and arrived on Friday. He didn't sleep and was walking around the park. He was the first in line. Professor Rodrigo traveled from Vitória, Espirito Santo, to Barretos because of love for the singer. "We have been fans for so long that our lives are related to Mariah."
Peruvian Fredy Hianqui, 22, arrived in Barretos at 7h on this Saturday and went directly to Parque do Peão. He got on a plane in Lima to São Paulo, and then a bus to Barretos. "I love her. I discovered her music 5 years ago." He claimed that the fact the show was going to happen in Brazil was important on his decision. "Mariah plus Brazil is everything," he says.
The attendance operator Tiago Dias, 25, was face to face with the diva before. He was working at the hotel in which the diva checked in and managed to get a picture with her. "I was ecstatic, it was like I was completely numb," he says. A São Paulo resident, he got on a bus to Barretos at dawn this Saturday.
Also coming from a far place was the operation manager Fabio Luís da Cunha, 26. He lives in Rio de Janeiro and got on a bus on Friday afternoon, right after work. "It is really worth it. I would do even 20 times more for her. Mariah is everything in my life. Whenever I think about a stage in my life, there's a Mariah song," he confesses.
The fans will have to wait a lot to get inside the arena. The opening should happen only when all the rodeo competitions are all over, which is going to happen around midnight.
Pregnant or Not, Leave Mariah Carey Alone!
Posted by Lynn on Monday, 23-Aug-2010, 4:10PM EDT
Anyone with common sense and proper etiquette should know that unless you're 100 percent sure a lady is preggers, you don't ask her when she's due.
Poor Mariah Carey is being subjected to all sorts of is-she-or-isn't-she meanness today, after some less than flattering footage of her hit the Web. What's the proof? Because she looks larger, that's all.
It's totally ridiculous that just because she's photographed from an awful and awkward angle (we've all been there, right?), people are fueling the speculation that her voluptuous frame means that she's with child. Even some of our own have put her on baby watch, and with no evidence other than a little muffin-top on the edges.
We'll admit, she's looking a little larger than life in the photos and video—but for as long as she's been around, she's always been rocking the love curves! She's been looking freakin' great lately, to be sure, and to call her out now on her looks seems downright mean.
Now, if you want to talk about Mariah's cryptic Twitter messages or hubby Nick Cannon's announcement on his radio show as being fodder for the pregnancy fire, then that's another story. "We all know that it's extremely personal for a woman to deal with the idea of child birth. We know we are public figures, but that's something that you want to keep near and dear until you're 100 percent certain."
Doesn't sound like Nick's trying to hush the story like Mariah's reps are (who say there is "nothing to comment on"). But pregnant or not, we draw the line at the idea that a larger Mariah single-handedly equals a future-mommy Mariah.
We'll just keep our mouths shut—even though a preggers M would make us super happy, have to admit.
"I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again - when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her," Cannon, 29, said on his radio show Monday on New York's 92.3 FM.
Elaborating on a Twitter message he posted in June, Cannon stresses that the issue is delicate. "We all know it's extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff," he says.
But he explains that if there ever is news to announce, the couple want to "strategically plan it out properly" to avoid "media hoopla."
"That's something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you're 100% sure, in any situation," he says. "There's a certain time limit you're supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are and all that stuff. You don't want to mislead anybody."

Mariah Fans Line Up for Barretos Concert
Posted by Lynn on Saturday, 21-Aug-2010, 8:56PM EDT
Barretos SP, 21/08/2010, 14h53 - Early Mariah Carey fans have come to Barretos, in Sao Paulo for the show of the American singer which takes place on Saturday night in the Cowboy Festival. The first in the queue arrived at 6am and came from São Paulo.
"We took the bus at midnight, arrived here early to go the the show. It's tiring, but worth it. I could get an autograph outside the hotel [where she stayed in the state capital], but twenty years ago I wait for a show of it," said student Lucas Figueiredo, 19.
Of the dozens of people who improvised a line in front of the arena, only five were women. Most of the boys was part of a group of 70 people who came by bus from Rio de Janeiro and arrived in the city around 11am. A Peruvian group also arrived.
"I took the plane in Lima [Peru's capital] on Thursday evening and arrived in Sao Paulo early Monday. We went to the door of the hotel where the Mariah was there and then took a bus and came to Barretos. I go back to Lima tomorrow," said the student administration Huanqui Fred, 22.
He has already visited Brazil three times, but this time the trip has a special taste. It is the first time he has a chance to see his idol. Also for the first time he faces a marathon of these and disburses $700 to see the concert. "I like her since I was 16 years and I'm super excited. But I love Brazil and I love Mariah, then it is the perfect combination," he explained.
Huanqui was surprised at the country mood and the venue. "I do not really like country and when they told me it was here I found it weird. But I would not miss the opportunity," he said.
The student Carlos Freire, 23, was responsible for organizing the caravan. He called the fans in the community "Mariah Carey Brazil," on Orkut. He said the group spent £9,000 to see the pop diva. "In addition to buses and the tickets, we did shirts, badge and hats in homage to it," he said.
"You must suffer for the diva. I've seen her show in Rio de Janeiro, but she only sang three songs. Now, a whole show will be celebrated." The group is planning some performances at the time of presentation. When playing "Hero" fans sway white balloons. In "Shake It Off", bring sunglasses. And in "I Want To Know What Love Is" it's time to raise their hands and shake the neon bracelets.
"It's hard to explain that love, huh? I am a fan since childhood. I like other singers, but only by Mariah I'm anxious, crying, and I get no sleep" Freire said.
"Just a fan who believes that unconditional love. I have a song for her every moment of my life," the student Luiz Mendonca, 24, who has tattooed the name of the singer on his arm.
Video: Mariah's Stage/Dressing Room at Barretos
Posted by Lynn on Saturday, 21-Aug-2010, 1:40PM EDT
The Barretos event organizers talk about their preparations for Mariah's concert tonight - from the construction of the stage, to the littlest details of her dressing room, in the "Video News" from Band below.
Mariah's dressing room will have comfortable furnitures with no prints in upholstery and dark curtains in place. Requests such as Fiji water, bottles of cranberry juice and diet soft drinks, teas and sports drinks, and for her production team, low-sodium snacks, fresh food and organic and cholesterol-free meals will also be provided. According to the report, Mariah did not ask for many beverages, but organizers will be providing her with red wine imported especially for her. The production team, however, ordered a bottle of traditional Russian vodka, imported beers, wines and whiskey.
Ken Baker, E! News: "Mariah is definitely in the mix. I'm told that she's wanted to be a part of the show for a very long time. Of course she has been as a guest but she really does want to be a judge and I'm told by a very good source that they are in final negotiations with her so we could find out within the next few weeks whether she's going to join that panel."
A.J. Calloway, Extra: "The rumor is she is in talks to be an actual judge. Kind of make sense too, she's good friends with Randy Jackson, the only current judge returning next season."

Fan Stories: Mariah in Brazil, Day 1
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 20-Aug-2010, 9:53AM EDT
Brazilian fans waited eagerly and patiently for Mariah's arrival at the Fasano Hotel in Sao Paulo on Thursday, August 19. Reinaldo, Luciano, Graziela, Camila, Maria Eduarda and Willian recount their experience meeting their idol below.
Reinaldo: "I was at the Fasano hotel, Mariah delayed. She's perfect, beautiful! She stood in front of me grabbed my hand and gave me an autograph. I watched her closely, she used a long dress and an over all. Everyone said she was pregnant. In my opinion, she's much lean than months ago."
Luciano: "I arrived around 8:00am at the Fasano Hotel. She arrived at 2:30pm. When she was in front of me, I said, 'Mariah, make it happen for me.' She smiled and said yes, and signed my Charmbracelet CD! It was my first time seeing her, it was exciting! My daydream has been done."
Graziela: "I wasn't at the video 'cause I was recording it! Of course I'd LOVE to be at the video but Camila and my brother Yuri were SO VERY EXCITED that I decided to be altruist (lol) and take the pics and videos for them. What a nice friend/sister, no?! I actually was handling 2 cameras and have no idea how could I be calm enough to take pictures, record videos and talk to Mariah without fainting. It was really a dream! She's always so sweet with us fans that it really worth paying the HUGE amount we had to pay to book a room at Fasano (this is why we could approach her this much)."
Here are videos recorded by Graziela of Mariah with friend Camila and brother Yuri on the lobby of the Fasano Hotel.
Camila: "It was my second time meeting Mariah! Me and my friend Yuri Merli decided to stay at Fasano. We were waiting for her from inside the lobby. Yuri's sister Graziela was also there as she would try to film it all and take pics. As soon as Mariah arrived outside, we came closer to the door. Each one of us was holding a Hello Kitty because we thought she would recognize us as fans easily. We were the only fans there inside. As she entered the hotel, she saw us instantaneously. She then stopped in front of us, smiling and as if she would hear what we had to say to her. She was very polite and extremely sweet. We were able to talk to her quickly yet nicely. We then followed her all through the corridor as we would walk towards the elevator. As she entered in it, we asked her is she had enjoyed our 'ensembles,' she smiled and told us: 'I looove your ensembles!' It was a very fun and festive moment! She then waved at us and threw us kisses as we would say we love her. She replied with 'I love you too!' smiling as she was already inside the elevator. All we gotta do is to be eternally grateful for this 'Mariah moment.'"
Maria Eduarda: "Despite waiting many hours, therefore having all the reasons to be tired and to need a good time of rest, it was all worth it! Mariah was so nice and considerate. She paid so much attention to the fans who waited eagerly outside the hotel. She's the greatest diva of the world! I am so very anxious for her performance on Saturday!"
Willian: "I was able to give my Hello Kitty and butterfly necklace gift to Mariah at Fasano! She took my hand and it was magic! I took this video footage while giving her the Hello Kitty. I really want to get a hug and I will..."
FAN PHOTOS Here are photos outside of the Fasano Hotel in Sao Paulo. Thanks to Vitor, Maria Eduarda, Luciano and Graziela!

Excitement Builds for Mariah's Brazil Concert
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 18-Aug-2010, 8:36PM EDT
Mariah's most anticipated show at Barretos is 3 days away, but the anxious Brazilian fans can't wait to get a glimpse of their diva. Tomorrow, August 19th, Mariah is scheduled to arrive at 9:42am at São Paulo's Guarulhos International Airport, and throngs of fans with their signs & banners, shirts and presents are expected to gather at the airport to give Mariah a warm welcome.
On August 21st, the day of the concert itself, the Brazilian online magazine Veja has revealed some of the surprises the fans have planned for the evening like putting on sunglasses during the song "Shake It Off," waving hands with bright neon bracelets throughout "I Want to Know What Love Is," and releasing balloons into the air while Mariah is singing "Hero."
Below are pictures of what some of our Brazilian fans plan on wearing to the concert. From left to right, top to bottom: the t-shirt that members of the MC Forever team will be wearing; Rio de Janeiro's Mariah Caravan team banner; Ana Carolina and Gabrielle's Mariah shirt, Bruno's shirt; Caroline's sign; and Camille's chalkboard (taken outside Copacabana last year. Camille will hold same with new text: "Thanks for coming! LYM!")
Here are some of Mariah's favorite phrases translated to Portuguese by Camila that Mariah may find useful and handy at the airport, hotel and on stage.
For the nostalgia - Para matar a saudade You like this! - Aaah você gosta disso! Doing the best with what I got - Estou fazendo o melhor com o que eu tenho Get it together - Vamos organizar isso! I love you, appreciate you and enjoy you - Eu amo vocês, dou valor a vocês e me divirto com vocês Stonewinner - Campeão Oh, dear - Oh, querido I love Brazil - Eu amo o Brasil What's up, Brazil? - Como vai, Brasil? Do you like the ensemble? - Vocês gostam do visual? Oh my goodness! - Oh Meu Deus! or Mewdels!
Meanwhile, Terra reports that the Barretos event organizers are preparing a real "military operation" due to Mariah's (and her staff's) demands. The organizers has assured the stage will have all the elements from Mariah's past concerts, and a new exclusive scenery for the show, special effects and even a velvet curtain. The stage will have a 4 meters high deck for the dancers, drums and percussion, and also where Mariah will perform at some moments during the concert. Mariah and her staff will be placed at the whole main dressing room of the Parque do Peão, known as Casa dos Artistas (Stars' House). The sound system is from the São Paulo's company Gabisom, the same that supplied the sound equipments to the European edition of the "Rock In Rio" world music festivals.

Early Photos: Mariah at Usdan in 1980
Posted by Lynn on Tuesday, 17-Aug-2010, 6:23PM EDT
Mariah attended the Usdan Camp For The Creative And Performing Arts in Long Island during the summer of 1980 - when she was about 10 years old. As a first-year student at Usdan, Mariah played Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, but only made understudy in the class production the next year. She kvetched in an interview with Newsday in 1998, "I felt kind of foiled. But not having a lead role gave me a chance to have a lot of fun that summer."
Randi, who went to Usdan with Mariah, says, "Usdan is a big camp on Long Island and if you are a kid growing up in the New York metropolitan area and liked the Arts, chances are you went to Usdan. Mariah Carey went to Usdan! And I attended with her! I tell people this all the time and they never believe me."
She really did go to Usdan with Mariah and the pictures below prove it!
1st Photo: Mariah wearing a red top in the front row, looking up. According to Randi, class seating was arranged by talent. She says, "I think we are rehearsing Annie Get Your Gun. I remember that Mariah Carey had a very nice voice and cheated at Spit [a card game]. I might have been better than her at Chinese Jacks, but I can't really remember. We traded stickers once."
2nd Photo: Mariah at right wearing a yellow tank top. Randi: "Here is a better picture of Mariah. She and that girl in the middle used to dress alike and walk around and act like they were better than all of us. Well, at least Mariah was. I wonder where that Mariah BFF is now?"
In an interview with UK's The Bigger Breakfast in 1997, Mariah talked about her summer days at Usdan: "I always knew that I wanted to be a singer and also when I was growing up, I was in a lot of plays. Sound of Music I was Maria, and all that stuff. I was in Fiddler On The Roof, I was Hodel. I was in Annie Get Your Gun but I only had a small role in that. I was very upset about that. [laughs] I always knew that I wanted to sing and be involved in the entertainment fields and whatever. And then MTV started when I was growing up like in 6th Grade I think was when I first saw MTV and I knew that's what I wanted to do. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I wanted to do this forever."
And just in case you missed this photo of Mariah in her 4th Grade class picture at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School, Greenlawn, New York, which we posted here on the site back in July 2007, here it is again. Mariah is the one standing in the middle wearing a red dress.

An American Idol insider revealed to E! News that FOX is still actively pursuing potential judges for next season. They had this to say about Mariah: "They've reached out to her. She's still in the mix."
Entertainment Weekly has posted a poll asking readers to vote for who should win one of the vacancies on the American Idol judges panel: Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, or Kara DioGuardi. Columnist Michael Slezak added his own input on Mariah:
"When I first read the Mariah-as-Idol-judge proposition, my mind went completely blank – and stayed that way for hours – which I guess says a lot in and of itself. I mean, yes, Mariah's sneezes have more vocal authenticity than J.Lo's entire musical oeuvre, and yes her season 7 mentor stint resulted in a night of fantastic performances (remember David Cook's 'Always Be My Baby' or Jason Castro's 'I Don't Want to Cry'?), but it's hard to envision the sometimes, er, spacey diva offering tough, lucid critiques in a live TV setting. Isn't she just too nice for the gig? Then, this morning, it struck me: Idol producers could devise a wordless critique system in which Mariah judges the performances by holding up one (or more) in a series of eight flash-cards: Unicorn, sparkles, rainbow, butterfly, lamb, cotton candy, negligee, and sad clown. What would it all mean? Who cares! From a TV theater standpoint, it would be kind of amazing, and at the very least, more succinct than a Randy Jackson riff."
More on Mariah-as-Idol-Judge talk. Viewers of Access Hollywood didn't think Mariah should be a judge, but husband Nick Cannon does not agree: "Mariah Carey should be the next judge on American Idol 'cause she's the greatest singer of all time. Yeah, I said it!" Download video below.
In the spirit of celebrating the contributions of artists not appearing on vinyl or CD picture sleeves (and not adding to their Hot 100 histories), Billboard's Chart Beat continues a look at some of the best-known songs sporting somewhat stealthy guest appearances.
"I'll Be There," Mariah Carey Carey's 1992 Hot 100 No. 1 Jackson 5 cover, from her "MTV Unplugged" special, shone a prominent spotlight on background singer Trey Lorenz. Later that year, Lorenz reached No. 19 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with "Someone to Hold," which the pair co-wrote and produced. They sang "I'll Be There" together last year at Michael Jackson's memorial at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Taylor Swift becomes the second female artist in the history of the Hot 100 to debut multiple tracks in the top five during a calendar year, as "Mine" entered the chart at No. 3. Mariah Carey is the only other female with multiple top five debuts in a single year, opening at No. 1 with both "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" in 1995. Billboard.
Scottish-Iranian soul star Zarif recently name-dropped Mariah as an influence in an interview with UK's Mirror: "After hearing people like Michael Jackson, Prince and Stevie Wonder, I knew this was what I wanted to do. Then singers like Mariah Carey and Eva Cassidy opened me up to the idea of using your voice."
Aspiring pop star Emma Lasry's video to her song "Closet B****" features her singing into a pink hairbrush with her friends and dancing in a leather outfit under a large disco-ball. If the video is meant to conjure images of a young Mariah Carey, that may be the point. Emma considers Carey one of her idols. Wall Street Journal.
Nicki Manaj has revealed that Mariah is a part of her current iPod playlist: "I always have Mariah for when I just feel like curling up in bed. On her last album, it's 'H.A.T.E.U.'" SOHH.

Nick Cannon: "My Wife Is My Best Friend"
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 13-Aug-2010, 1:09AM EDT
Nick Cannon's interview with rolling out covered a variety of topics ranging from his desire to be respected by his peers, to his constant battles with the media over his wife of two years, Mariah Carey.
Where or to whom do you turn when you're confused or challenged? I turn to God more than anything, because prayer changes things. Other than that, my wife is my best friend, so we talk about any and everything... [it] always helps to have a companion that no matter what's going on, you can always go to that person and share everything.
Does the media attention ever interfere with the harmony at home? No, we don't pay any attention to the media. Once we are in the confines of our home, all of that other stuff just goes out of the window.
Is the age difference ever an issue in your relationship? When it comes to the age difference, my wife and I don't even pay attention to that. I think at some point, everyone obviously recognizes that there is an age difference, but it's just like anybody else's relationship. You don't really think about how old your spouse is when you're dealing with them every day. We're both on the same page and we both have a youthful spirit. I've always been around people that were a lot older than me. All of my best friends are a lot older than me, and I've always been attracted to people that were a little more mature than myself.
Why do you think that the public is so eager to see you take on fatherhood? I actually appreciate people wanting me to be a father. I don't think that people understand that we have our own lives, and that we are going to do it when we want to do it, instead of when they want us to do it. But I appreciate everyone being so eager about this process between me and my wife.
As a married man, what advice would you give to guys on being faithful, and keeping the romance alive? Before you get married, get it all out of your system. Don't do it until you're ready, and make sure that the person that you're with is worth your faithfulness and worth your time ... then you won't even have to think about doing anything because no one will be on your wife's level. You'll have so much love for that person that there's no way that you can be tempted, you wouldn't want to lose it. It's a simple fact. If you've got a 1985 Nissan Sentra, when a Bentley drives by, you're gonna want that Bentley. But if you didn't settle, and you make sure that you've got your own Bentley, then you won't even think about any other cars when they drive by.
By contrast, what advice would you give to women to keep men engaged in the relationship? If I had to give women advice – not that I know anything – but I would just say that you should strip away your man's ego. You have to cater to who he is as a person, and understand that we're emotional as well, and that [the] main emotion is ego. So if you can strip away that, then everything else will be good.

Mariah Wants to be Idol Judge?
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 11-Aug-2010, 9:04AM EDT
Mariah 'talks about' the prospect of being on American Idol. "She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great," says Nick Cannon in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter: With all your ventures, how do you find time to be a husband and to occasionally sleep? Nick Cannon: I don't really sleep. I literally sleep from 7:30 to 9:30 every morning, and then my day has to start. My wife is so understanding and so hard-working herself. It's perfect, because there's never a misunderstanding. She's been the hardest-working woman in the industry for 20 years. She encourages me to keep going. When we have time, we'll shut everything down and have the whole day together. We'll be in the pool for eight hours with the dogs. And every 30th of each month is "I Love You" day, so we do something fun. But Mariah sleeps during the day as well, so when I get home at 7:30 a.m., she's going to bed as well. So we have time for the normal pillow talk and to cuddle and fall asleep together.
THR: What do you think about all the "American Idol" shake-ups? NC: Simon Cowell was the anchor of the show. And when he stepped out, it's like, now what? But as long as Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson stick around, I'm watching.
THR: Has Mariah been approached to join the panel? NC: You know what? She talks about it. She says, "I would love to do that." She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don't know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do "Idol." Let's start the campaign!

She joins Mariah Carey, who tallied six chart leaders between 1993 and 2005, Beyonce (2003-10) and Lady Gaga (2009-10) on the Pop songs radio airplay. The latter two acts equaled Carey's sum when their "Telephone" reached No. 1 in March. MTV Loses Web Videos from UMG
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 06-Aug-2010, 5:00PM EDT
MTV, once the king of music videos, has failed to reach an agreement with music portal Vevo, for the rights to Universal Music Group's Web music videos.
Negotiations between MTV and Vevo over videos from UMG broke down Thursday, according to Vevo. What this means is that most of MTV's Internet properties will lose access to UMG's videos.
That may not be all. Vevo is the online music-video portal that launched in December and is supported by three of the top four labels, UMG, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI Music. So, MTV conceivably may have problems signing deals with the other two labels.
MTV would only say that it's disappointed a deal couldn't be reached. "During our recent discussions with Vevo, we were unable to reach a fair and equitable agreement for rights to stream UMG artists' music video," MTV said in a statement. "As a result, UMG has elected to pull their music videos from our Web sites. We are disappointed by this move and sincerely hope that UMG will work with us toward a fair resolution."
MTV has declined to enter into UMG's standard agreement and one that has been signed by other companies, such as Google's YouTube. Disagreements between the large labels and MTV are nothing new. MTV's rise to power and profits, beginning in 1981, by broadcasting nothing but music videos is a sore spot for big music.
The large record companies have always said they never received a fair share for their videos. MTV argued that the labels got plenty. The videos helped promote artists for decades. Then YouTube emerged and music videos became the most popular segment on the site. Now, the record companies say that since music videos are huge traffic drivers, executives are focused on pocketing the ad revenue they generate themselves.

What My Wife Does For Me By Nick Cannon
Posted by Lynn on Thursday, 05-Aug-2010, 10:30AM EDT
GlobalGrind celebrity blogger Nick Cannon opens up on his new show The Nightlife, the key to success, and his beautiful wife Mariah Carey.
"My wife always makes breakfast for me. People can't imagine Mariah cooking but no matter what time of day it is when I come home she always has food prepared for me, usually steak and eggs or steak and baked potatoes. I'm a carnivore so I'm always eating steak. She's amazing.
I feel thankful and blessed for my wife. She is the most beautiful person in the world, inside and out. Someone like her is truly just an angel. I'm in a situation that you have to be ready for. When the opportunity came I knew I wanted to go for it. Men need to get all the foolishness out of their system before they are ready to stay true.
Being married allows me to focus more. When you have somebody that's your lifelong companion that allows you to zone in. All the other stuff you thought was important doesn't really matter anymore. Your priorities change."
More of Nick Talking About Mariah Nick Cannon, currently on his first national comedy tour, says his stand-up act will be pretty freewheeling, and that he'll talk about everything. "I've been quiet for a while, compared to all the things that have been going on in my life. Talking about everything, finally getting out there, speaking my mind on all issues." All includes pop superstar Mariah Carey, whom Cannon married in April 2008. "She helps me with a lot of my material. I always tell people she's one of the funniest people I've ever met. I run everything by her. But I haven't let her come to an official show yet, because I don't feel like it's all the way right where I want it to be, and she's the person I want to impress the most."
The Idea of a Mariah Carey Episode on Glee
Posted by Lynn on Wednesday, 04-Aug-2010, 2:52PM EDT
At Comic-Con and during Monday's TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, Glee creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy and co. noted that the big post-Super Bowl episode of Glee (airing Feb. 6, 2011) will feature a tribute to a major pop artist, but they did not say who because negotiations are ongoing. Now that we know the Carol Burnett news is a done deal, it's time to speculate as to who that pop artist might be, at least in our fantasies. Some names we can rule out: Britney Spears, since a Britney episode has already been confirmed for another episode next season; Madonna (even though they plan to do another tribute, presumably it won't be for the Super Bowl); Paul McCartney, who already will have his music featured in another episode next season; and Lady Gaga (also been done). So who could it be? Let's take some guesses.
Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey?
Mariah Carey: The best thing about a Carey tribute is the potential for a hit-the-high-note contest between Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, frequent guest star Kristin Chenoweth, and Carey. Some people will be putting money on the big game that Sunday; if this circumstance comes to pass, the "Gleeks" would all be betting on which of these vocalists is most likely to break glass.
Take the Washington Post poll: "Which pop artist would you most like to see in a Glee tribute episode?" here.

Nick and his Mariah Jokes
Posted by Lynn on Sunday, 01-Aug-2010, 12:15PM EDT
Nick Cannon has gone back to his standup roots this summer, with a US-wide tour, which he kicked off at the Playboy Comedy Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas last week.
The supercool hotel - which is the resort of choice for countless celebs on their trips to Vegas - is where he and Mariah held their one year anniversary bash last year. So it was only appropriate that most of his set revolves around married life.
Even before the gig, he announced: "I've been holding my tongue for a while, and I just celebrated my two year anniversary, so it's time to go out there and start talking."
And talk he does. He tells that even he wouldn't have believed that he'd married Mariah Carey. That they sit in bed together eating popcorn, watching America's Got Talent. That he cleans the house using her album covers as dustpans.
He even lets slip that, like Katie Holmes dreaming of marrying Tom Cruise as a child, his number one teenage crush was Mariah.
And her perfectly coiffed image takes a battering as he describes her smearing her face with nightcream before she goes to bed.
The set seems more rehearsed than improvised, but Cannon knows where the laughs are, and he gets every one.
The women in the audience adore his every mention of his wife, and the men enjoy his impression of a henpecked husband.
By the end of the show, Cannon has achieved the impossible - leaving the audience with the impression that Mariah Carey is a normal woman.
You have to wonder: does she know what he's saying about her every night across America?
If she does, underneath the fearsome reputation, she must have a pretty good sense of humour. Because on this tour, the jokes are on her.
