Mariah Carey Gives Baby Pictures To Fans, Not Tabloids
Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 29-Aug-2012, 12:54PM EDT
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have decided not to sell their baby pictures to tabloids. Instead, they've essentially given them away to fans on Mariah's website. At the same time, they're asking publications and others who want copies to buy them from dembabies.com, where proceeds will go to Mariah's Fresh Air Fund Camp.
This lovely act of altruism is certainly a first, as we're expecting pictures of Snooki's baby, Lorenzo, to be flogged somewhere any minute. (Not to say there's any comparison between Mariah and Snooki.)
Mariah has been running Camp Mariah for about twenty years through good times and bad, and has taken it pretty seriously. You can read about it at www.freshairfund.org. We're running a picture from the website here on our site, so we're sending a check to the Fresh Air Fund immediately. Nice stuff, Nick and Mariah!

The music video for "Triumphant" is featured on today's edition of "Hot This Week," VEVO's weekly wrap-up of the biggest premieres and VEVO originals:
4) MARIAH CAREY & NICK CANNON - Since beginning his career on Nickelodeon, Nick Cannon has forged a successful (if sporadic) musical career, highlighted by his 2003 self-titled solo debut. However, the 31-year-old's sales cannot hold a candle to that of his 42-year-old wife, Mariah Carey, who has spent over two decades pushing the boundaries of mainstream R&B and looks to do so again with her upcoming studio effort. The happy couple have moved a combined 54 million copies -- 53.77 million of which were courtesy of Carey.

Women's Wear Daily: Mariah Signs with OPI
Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 22-Aug-2012, 7:58PM EDT
Below is the official announcement of Mariah's collaboration with OPI as originally published on Women's Wear Daily. In it, Mariah talks about her new endeavour as well as her upcoming new album. Many thanks to Jordan for sharing:
The nail craze, already at fever pitch, is about to rise another octave.
Mariah Carey, the chart-topping, Grammy Award-winning songstress with a five-octave vocal range, has signed on with OPI Products Inc. for two nail polish collections launching next year. The first collection of eight shades will hit OPI's global distribution of salons, spas and retailers in January, followed by another later in the year with an as yet undetermined number of shades.
"I actually went to beauty school in 11th grade so I could have something to fall back on, so believe me, I've done my share of manicures as well as getting them," said Carey, who added that although a neutral nail is her go-to, she has been recently donning metallic and pastel shades. "OPI knows that the polish you use makes a big difference not only in the look, but in the care of your nails and that's why I believe in the brand."
The timing could hardly be better for OPI as Carey, known for strong comebacks, is stepping into the spotlight again after a three-year hiatus from albums and giving birth to twins Monroe and Moroccan last year. She's expected to release a new album soon. A promo of sorts for it came last week in the form of the single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," and she is joining the judges' table on the next season of American Idol, which Jennifer Lopez proved can be a powerful platform for fashion and beauty.
"[It] is an eclectic mix of vocal-driven ballads, up-tempos and midtempos, said Carey about the upcoming release. "I'm not one to refer to myself in the third person, but a lot of songs will feel like 'classic Mariah Carey songs.'"
Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, executive vice president and artistic director of OPI, said, "Nails are part of her personality. I really have always looked for celebrities for whom nails are very important, and it is not something you just Photoshop on a picture. She was very much part of the color selection."
Carey, who the public has followed since her recording debut 22 years ago through two marriages, the box-office flop Glitter and the daring drama Precious, and more number-one U.S. singles than any other solo artist, represents a shift in style from the artists that have recently been a prominent part of OPI's collaboration roster, including Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj, as well as Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez for OPI's mass brand Nicole by OPI.
Usually, Weiss-Fischmann said, OPI does only a single collection with its celebrity collaborators, but Carey's stardom is so huge that two collections were justified.

"Triumphant" Video Takes Mariah To Boxing Ring
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 21-Aug-2012, 11:44PM EDT
Mimi may be emancipated, but she's back between the ropes — into the boxing ring, specifically — in the just released a new video for her current single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," which also features rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill.
As with anything from Carey's universe, there's a distinct level of glittery fabulosity to the clip. Dressed to the nines in a couple of chic, midriff-baring dresses — girl looks good! — Carey is a part of rapper Meek Mill's entourage, who's playing the boxer at the center of the action. Rick Ross is also a sundry member of the boxer's crew. Do you get it? The winner of the match will be triumphant!
The best part is when Carey plays the role of a "boxing ring girl" (yes, this is a technical term — I looked it up) and holds up various cards announcing rounds. The oddest part is that, while Carey is clearly the star of the show, she relinquishes lots of precious screen time over to Meek Mill and Rick Ross for their rapping interludes. Carey would be nothing more than a pretty-girl after-thought if it weren't for those card-carrying moments and the cuts to her in front of a — you guessed it — a glittery screen (inventive!). But, in the end, it's all very fitting for the song's vibe.

Vote For Mariah To Be Honored at MTV Awards
Posted by Jonny on Monday, 20-Aug-2012, 6:32PM EDT
From the first Video Music Awards in 1984 until 1992, MTV always honored at least one artist or director as a Video Vanguard. This lifetime acheivement prize -- which was renamed for 1988 recipient Michael Jackson in 1991 -- was only bestowed eight more times from 1994 till 2006 when it went to helmer Hype Williams. Last year, MTV reintroduced the award and Lady Gaga presented it to Britney Spears. Despite naming 27 honorees over the years, MTV overlooked the late Whitney Houston, Prince and Bruce Springsteen.
This year, MTV could fete any of the eight acts below:
Aerosmith Beyonce Mariah Carey is one of the music successful artists to come out the nineties. While she has won five Grammys and 11 American Music Awards but has never won an MTV Video Music Award. She has been nominated three times for Best Female Video, four times for Best R&B Video and once for Best Hip-Hop Video. It was just announced that she will be a judge on next season’s "American Idol" and it is possible she will attend this year's VMAs to promote that gig. I predict she will be part of a tribute to Whitney Houston. It would be a good time for MTV to bestow upon Mariah this long overdue honor. Eminem Green Day Jay-Z No Doubt Justin Timberlake

Mariah Carey Teases "Triumphant" Video
Posted by Jonny on Friday, 17-Aug-2012, 2:32PM EDT
As we anxiously await the release of her new video for "Triumphant (Get’Em)" featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill, Mariah Carey teased pictures from the video set on Instagram to tide fans over. With the word "TRIUMPHANT" boldly splayed across the back of his golden robe, Meek stars in the Nick Cannon-directed video as a boxer heading into the ring with Mimi and Ross at his side, hoping to demolish and triumph against his competition.
The ever-glamorous Carey does not disappoint in the pictures, looking like a Hollywood starlet in diamonds and a curve-hugging gold dress while Ross lives up to his Don status in a sharp suit and floor-length fur coat.
The song, co-produced by Bryan-Michael Cox and Carey's right-hand man, Jermaine Dupri, is the first single being released off of Carey’s highly anticipated upcoming album, which is due out next year. Cox told MTV News, "This song is kind of inspirational. It's close to her heart, and I think her fans are going to really, really be emotionally attached to this song." Mimi, who co-wrote the song, tweeted that she wrote this song during a "difficult time" and by the title, we are sure she will come out on top.

Mariah To Perform in NYC Prior to 1st NFL Game
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 16-Aug-2012, 3:26PM EDT
Mariah Carey and No Doubt are superstar acts, but they’ll be the openers for the NFL’s first game of the season.
Carey and No Doubt are set to perform live from Rockefeller Plaza before the New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys game at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The hourlong pregame show will air at 7:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
Carey says she’s thrilled to be performing in New York — which she called her hometown — and adds she’s looking forward to making the season launch “even more festive.”
No Doubt drummer and New Orleans Saints fan Adrian Young says he’s excited to take part, and noted that the band performed at Super Bowl in 2003.
Carey recently released the single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em).” No Doubt’s new album, “Push and Shove,” is out Sept. 25.
MDJ Note: The Giants/Cowboys game will take place on Wednesday, September 5.
Bikini-Clad Mariah Carey Shows Off Kids
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 14-Aug-2012, 11:50AM EDT
Dem Babies are getting big!
At the request of her fans, Mariah Carey shared two new adorable photos of her 15-month-old fraternal twins, Monroe and Moroccan, over the weekend.
"Me and Roc Starr taking a lil nap," Carey, 42, tweeted Saturday with a photo in which she lays in bed next to her son. Little Moroccan looked sleepily at the camera while resting next to his mom, who had a smile on her face while pretending to be asleep.
The next day, Nick Cannon's wife hit the pool with their daughter. "As per your request, me and Ms. Monroe on a lazy day," she wrote. In the stunning photo, Carey lays stretched out on a pool step with Monroe playing in baby float. Hiding behind her hat, the mother-of-two flaunts her toned legs and hot post-baby bod in a black bikini, which was visible underneath a see-through white cover-up.
The singer won't have many "lazy days" soon; she's signed on to join the new judging panel on Season 12 of American Idol. "As a singer, songwriter and producer, it's going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back to American Idol," Carey said in a statement.
An American Idol insider told Us Weekly, "Mariah is getting paid $18 million with a one-year option to do Idol, making her the highest paid judge on any music competition show."

VH1 Declares Mariah "Greatest Artist of the 90s"
Posted by Jonny on Monday, 13-Aug-2012, 6:25PM EDT
And then there was one. For the final round of Bracket Madness for the greatest artist of the 90s crown, Mariah Carey and TLC went head to head for the title. One woman with a five range octave and No. 1 hits that reach the double digits versus three women considered one of the greatest girl groups of all time. There are few matchups as great (and tough) as this pairing. In the end Mariah's reign as the pop diva trumped the CrazySexyCool stardom of TLC.
No matter how you slice it, music in the 90s was heavenly. Mariah Carey's win represents all that was right with music. She was, and is, a versatile pop singer that dabbled in the R&B sound, she could actually blow, she writes her own material and her songs are timeless. We're hitting the play button on a little "me and Mariah, go back like babies and pacifiers" to honor her "Triumphant" win.
Billboard: New Video, Big TV Performance "Soon"
Posted by Jonny on Friday, 10-Aug-2012, 1:26PM EDT
Mariah Carey's new single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" has already generated plenty of buzz, especially after she announced last week that there are three versions of it (a hip-hip take featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill, a "vintage throwback remix" and a "pulse club mix." But fans have plenty more to look forward to before her next album, which is tentatively due in March. Carey's manager, Randy Jackson, tells Billboard.com that she has a "big performance planned soon for television," a vague but tantalizing hint. Jackson reveals that "Triumphant" was inspired by Carey's husband, Nick Cannon and his fight with kidney failure, and that the just-shot video will be directed by him as well. The clip is set to debut in the coming weeks.
Why Mariah Released 3 Versions of "Triumphant"
Posted by Jonny on Friday, 10-Aug-2012, 1:24PM EDT
With latest single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," Mariah Carey is offering something for everyone.
During a Def Jam conference call with media on Aug. 2, the singer debuted a hip-hop version of the track featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill, while simultaneously releasing a "vintage throwback remix" and "pulse club mix" on her website, MariahCarey.com.
Previewing the multiple versions of the single -- co-written and co-produced by Carey, Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox -- reveals the diversity of musical genres expected on her untitled 14th album, tentatively due in March 2013. According to Carey manager Randy Jackson, releasing the three different versions of "Triumphant" speaks to her ability to cater to multiple audiences and radio formats.
"The vintage throwback mix will remind fans of remixes she did years ago, and she's had a lot of Billboard No. 1 dance hits as well," Jackson says. "She went in and re-sang the vocals, knowing that the two verses on this first version of this single with Meek and Ross were going to be hip-hop verses where people were rapping. We wanted to have something for all of her fans."
The radio attack plan is multipronged as well. The single has already been released on YouTube in streaming format, having racked up almost 500,000 views since it was uploaded earlier this month. Island Def Jam plans to service the hip-hop version to R&B/hip-hop radio on Aug. 13, and is mapping out strategies to deliver other versions across dance formats.
Releasing three versions has played to Carey's benefit. Some fans criticized the fact that Ross and Mill overshadow the singer on her own song and gravitated toward the club-geared mixes.
"Most people probably don't understand this, but you always play to what's best for the song," Jackson says. "You don't go in and say, 'Wait a minute. I know they're rapping on these verses, but I need to be singing on these verses. Me, me, me.' It just turns out that way."
For Carey, enlisting rappers for a single is nothing new. Since the onset of her career, she's collaborated with Jay-Z, Ol' Dirty Bastard and Busta Rhymes, adding hip-hop flavor to pop-leaning tracks. The choice to release three versions of "Triumphant" mirrors a similar strategy used for 2009 single "Obsessed," for which she shot two music videos: a solo edit and a remix featuring Gucci Mane. The original version of the cut peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the club remix later topped the Dance Club Songs chart, scoring a hit across formats.
"Her idea with all her music is to get it out to her fans, and hopefully lift everyone's spirits a little bit," says Jackson, who notes that "Triumphant" was inspired by Carey's husband, Nick Cannon, and his struggle with kidney failure earlier this year. "It's really about having it succeed, and people are hearing it."
In anticipation of the single's release, Carey has already shot a video directed by Cannon and set for release in the forthcoming weeks. She has a "big performance planned soon for television," and will appear in director Lee Daniels' upcoming film, "The Butler." Of course, she also recently cut a deal to serve as a judge on "American Idol" that's rumored to be worth $18 million. During the next few months, however, Jackson insists that completing the album is her main focus.
"The album is going to be one of the great Mariah Carey albums," he says, "with a lot of stuff that you've come to love about her over the years."

OPI Signs Deal With Mariah Carey
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 09-Aug-2012, 10:35PM EDT
From the Muppets to Minnie Mouse, OPI nabs the real-life Ms. Mariah Carey for its next nail collaboration.
Following a line with Nicki Minaj, the nail brand is going for another chart-topping vocalist for its next line of lacquers.
WWD reports that the superstar singer signed on for two nail polish collections, both launching next year.
The first collection of eight shades will hit OPI salons, spas and retailers worldwide in January, followed by another collection later in the year.
After taking some time off to get married and give birth to twins, Carey is slated to make a comeback with a new album releasing soon, so the timing of her beauty collab could not have been better planned.
Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, executive vice president and artistic director of OPI tells WWD, "Nails are part of her personality. I really have always looked for celebrities for whom nails are very important, and it is not something you just Photoshop on a picture. She was very much part of the color selection."
Mariah fans since 'Always Be My Baby' hit number one in '96, we can't wait for the Grammy Award-winner's sure-to-be glittery and glam polishes.

Also, a fan who was in attendance at the video shoot has revealed this little tidbit:

New York Daily News: Will Mariah Join Reid at Sony??
Posted by Jonny on Tuesday, 07-Aug-2012, 8:41AM EDT
MARIAH CAREY could be working with the enemy soon. Sources close to the new American Idol judge say that after Carey releases her new album later this year with Universal she's "more than seriously considering" returning to working with X-Factor judge L.A. Reid, who is now at Sony. Reid, formerly CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group, is widely given credit for reviving Carey's career in 2005. He joined Sony in July 2011 and is now chairman and CEO of its Epic label. The record exec and the singer remain close friends, and one source even says Reid was instrumental in Carey's joining Idol. And another Idol judge, Randy Jackson — who also serves as Carey’s manager — wants her to work again with Reid. Jackson thinks "L.A. is the right guy for Mariah," says the source. A spokeswoman for Carey says "Mariah is still happily under contract with Island Def Jam" and that "she just wrapped the video for 'Triumphant (Get 'Em),' the first single from her upcoming album."

A History Of Mariah's Hip-Hop Collaborations
Posted by Jonny on Monday, 06-Aug-2012, 12:25AM EDT
Mariah Carey made her music debut a little over 20 years ago and while the singer has been praised for her legacy in pop and R&B, Mimi is no stranger to the hip-hop world, either. In fact, the 1995 remix of her hit "Fantasy" with the late Ol' Dirty Bastard is still regarded as a landmark moment in cross-genre collaborations.
Today, Mariah will release her new single, "Triumphant," and it features none other than Maybach Music's Rick Ross and Meek Mill. In anticipation, we opted for a quick look back at her previous collaborations with hip-hop artists. From the mid-90s, when she was recording with Da Brat, to recent work with MCs like Nicki Minaj and Gucci Mane, here's a history of Mariah Carey's collaborations with rappers.
If your station plays "Triumphant," let us know! Please send us an email and be sure to include your name and location (city/state/country).

Mariah Carey Debuts Single; Talks Upcoming Album
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 02-Aug-2012, 7:28PM EDT
Three years after the release of her last non-holiday full-length opus, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," Mariah Carey returns with her first single, "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill.
"Working with Ross and Meek on the same record was incredible," Mariah Carey told media on a conference call today (August 2). "Obviously Ross is a star and everybody loves him. I'm a fan of his music. I really, really wanted to work with him. I love the tone of his voice. I think the contrast of his voice and mine would be something special. I always like to do collaborations that people might think are different."
"Meek adds an excitement, a newness to the record that is pretty rare right now," Mariah continued.
"Triumphant," which Randy Jackson chimed in to say is "inspirational," is the first single off Mariah's 14th studio album. The singer touched on the untitled album while on the call. "I'm collaborating with a lot of my favorite people but the main thing is [that] I'm not trying to follow any particular trend," she said. "I want it to be well received. I want to stay true to myself and the music that I love and make the fans happy."
Mariah also spoke on how she felt of the current state of R&B and its mainstream cross-over, saying "It would be incredible if we can bring back the days where R&B songs didn't have to cross over. It makes me sad that there are so many talented R&B artists that don't get the chance that they should."
Mariah Carey Debuts Winning New Single "Triumphant"
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 02-Aug-2012, 7:24PM EDT
Feeling down and looking for a bit of inspiration? Look no further than Mariah Carey's latest single, "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill, which the pop diva premiered Thursday (August 2).
A midtempo ballad that mixes a soft R&B beat with piano accompaniment, "Triumphant" is all about rising above a tough situation. "Reach for the stars," Carey sings. "Be all that you are and make 'em all fall down."
The track opens with Mill, whose verse quickly sums up the theme of the track. "The only way to make it to the top is if you go and get it from the bottom ... I remember they said that it ain't my turn/ But it ain't confirmed/ Then the tables turned," Mill raps. "Just look at me now/ Try to hold me down, but I ain't gonna stop/ 'Cause I'm gonna climb to the mountaintop."
"Meek adds an excitement, a newness to the record that is pretty rare right now," Carey said in a conference call with journalists Thursday just before releasing the song to radio. "Working with Ross and Meek on the same record was incredible. Obviously, Ross is a star and everybody loves him. I'm a fan of his music. I really, really wanted to work with him. I love the tone of his voice. I think the contrast of his voice and mine would be something special. I always like to do collaborations that people might think are different."
Carey is in peak form on her signature high notes, and the production comes courtesy of two of the pop legend's most trusted collaborators: co-writers/co-producers Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox. Cox told MTV News that the track is very personal to Carey.
"This song is kind of inspirational. It's close to her heart, and I think her fans are going to really, really be emotionally attached to this song," Cox tells MTV News. "I expect that this record's going to be a huge record. I expect that this is going to be one of her bigger albums."
Tidbits From Mariah's "Triumphant" Press Conference
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 02-Aug-2012, 5:41PM EDT
Mariah presented her new single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" and talked a bit about her upcoming album in a press conference hosted by IDJ Music Group for Radio and Media people on Thursday, August 2, 2012. Kick off was at 3:00pm ET and lasted for about 45 minutes.
Below are some highlights from the conference call.
"Triumphant" was written during the period when Nick was in the hospital.
Mariah says, "This song has a special meaning for myself, I wish it would not just encourage myself but also encourage all the people out there."
The parent album is currently being recorded, no title has been decided on yet. It is scheduled to be released in fourth quarter of this year.
Mariah didn't want to reveal too many collaborations on the new album. According to her, if she casually says she wants to work with someone, in the end it turns out to be someone working with someone else.
"Triumphant" is scheduled to officially impact Rhythmic and Urban radios on Monday, August 13th.
"Triumphant" has been digitally serviced to Rhythmic and Urban panels, fans can now request their local radios.

Press Release: Mariah Carey's New Single "Triumphant"
Posted by Jonny on Thursday, 02-Aug-2012, 9:04AM EDT
--FOLLOWS UP ANNOUNCEMENT THAT SHE WILL JOIN JUDGES PANEL OF FOX's AMERICAN IDOL FOR 2013 SEASON --"TRIUMPHANT (GET 'EM)" IS FIRST ADVANCE SINGLE FROM UPCOMING NEW STUDIO ALBUM, DETAILS TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER THIS YEAR
NEW YORK, Aug. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Just days after the earth-shaking announcement that she will join the judges' panel of FOX's American Idol when the series returns in 2013, multi-platinum global superstar Mariah Carey announces the release of her first new single in more than two years, as "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" featuring [fellow Island Def Jam artist] Rick Ross and Meek Mill goes to radio Thursday, August 2nd, and goes up for sale at iTunes next Tuesday, August 7th.
As tweeted from @MariahCarey: "I wrote TRIUMPHANT when I was going through a difficult time & it helped me get through it. When u hear it, pay attention 2 the lyrics #WIN." "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" is the first advance single from five-time Grammy Award®-winner Mariah's 14th studio album, whose release will be announced in the months ahead.
Mariah, who boasts an unparalleled music catalog with #1 hits in multiple formats on the Billboard charts, will follow the original version of "Triumphant" with a set of exclusive, re-sung dance remixes produced by some of the hottest names in the dance world. Mariah, who continues a long-time tradition of re-inventing her songs in the format, said: "I've always had so much fun re-singing my songs for the club/dance mixes. It gives me the freedom to sing as powerfully as I want and to rewrite the songs specifically for the genre." Mariah has 15 #1 hits on Billboard's Dance Music/Club Play chart, including "Dreamlover," "Fantasy" and "Obsessed."
Her upcoming new album follows up Mariah's worldwide multi-million-selling Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (released September 2009), her multi-platinum E=MC˛ (2008), and worldwide 10 million selling The Emancipation Of Mimi (2005).
The Emancipation Of Mimi generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), two #1 singles, and countless more honors during its 18-month chart stay. Soundscan's biggest-selling album of 2005, Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (Grammy winner for Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's.
Three years later, Mariah surpassed Elvis when "Touch My Body" (from E=MC˛) became her 18th #1 Hot 100 hit. "Touch My Body" spent two weeks at the top, Mariah's 78th and 79th cumulative career weeks at #1, which tied Elvis' long-standing all-time high of 79 weeks at #1, as calculated by Billboard. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 50 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits. The success of E=MC˛ brought total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 200 million worldwide, distancing her even further from the pack as the top-selling female recording artist in history.
With a distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting and producing talent, Mariah has defined the modern pop performance. As a singer/songwriter/producer, she has been honored with five Grammy Awards®, nine American Music Awards, Billboard's Artist of the Decade Award, the World Music Award for World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium, and BMI's Icon Award, to name a few.
She has two consecutive and unparalleled Billboard Song of the Decade titles: "One Sweet Day" (with Boyz II Men, 1995); and "We Belong Together" (2005), further marking her massive presence on the charts since her 1990 song debut "Vision of Love." Mariah's original holiday classic, "All I Want For Christmas is You," redefined its place in pop culture as one of the greatest holiday hits of all time when it reached #1 on the Billboard charts in 2011, 17 years after its debut. Mariah's influential and stellar contribution to music spans multiple genres and is showcased through her multifaceted hit catalog and a long list of diverse collaborations.
Mariah's ongoing impact transcends the music industry and has left an indelible imprint upon the world at large. In 2009, she made a substantial mark in film with her critically acclaimed role as a social worker in Precious, based on the novel Push by Sapphire. A Congressional Award recipient, Mariah has generously donated time and energy to a range of domestic and international philanthropic causes near to her heart, including the Fresh Air Fund/Camp Mariah (a retreat where inner-city children explore career development), Save the Music Foundation, and Make-a-Wish Foundation, among several others.

Mariah Working With Randy Jackson in Hamptons
Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 01-Aug-2012, 1:14PM EDT
When she's not being a diva at local events, Mariah Carey is hard at work in the Hamptons. Her manager and producer Randy Jackson, of American Idol fame, flew out to the South Fork over the weekend to work with her on her new album. As I reported last week, her first single will be called "Triumphant." Mariah's new album is hotly anticipated at DefJam Records this fall. With an already crowded schedule of new music coming out from every label, the record biz needs a big hit from Mariah.
