October 31st 2001...(7:00 pm EST)
I apologize for the last few days, but I haven't really received much news, so I decided to just wait and do a bigger update when I got enough news to do one.
Just so everyone knows, I have a 3 year old baby named Jaylan, and I have to take care of him while going to work every day and doing daily updates for everyone at the same time, even if it takes as long as 2 or 3 hours.
I appreciate all of the compliments, and since that is like, ONE complaint out of 500 compliments, I have no reason to even let them bother me. Just wanted to let this person know that no one else is bothered by it, and I'm thankful to all of you for not questioning me about it. You're all so sweet and you make it worthwile to update the site. Thank you. Luv ya much!
D
At the end of Mariah's performance at the Radio Music Awards, we were able to see Jim Carrey making a standing ovation for Mariah and invite the audience to applause more and more. If you are able to see the video of this performance, you can even read on Jim's lips that he said "c'mon".
I've been informed that this was Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray, not Jim Carrey. Thanx to Mariahnum1Lamb@aol.com and SilverFlame1802@aol.com for letting me know :) I've only seen the show once so I didn't remember. I've been a busy lamb:(
Hi Danielle,
When I say "Greatest Hits" I mean "As chosen by Sony"... as Mariah has said before, if she had her own Greatest Hits album, it would include all of her favorite songs that were never released, that she loves, which never received any credit when she would have liked for them to
Back from a medical break, Carey shifts-again-into high gear
Although her rep did not return calls, Ally executive producer Bill D'Elia says, "She's really great." Thanks in part to some old-fashioned star treatment. "We are a nurturing place," says D'Elia. "We found out who she likes to work with for makeup and hair. We made sure she was surrounded by people she feels comfortable with." The episode, which will air Jan. 7, features Carey as a key witness in a lawsuit against a dating service. She will also sing "Lead The Way," a track from her new album Glitter. Not everyone is surprised by her rebound. "She's a talented musician and a wonderful girl," says designer Tommy Hilfiger, who heard her sing at the fashion gala. "For her to be down-and for everyone to be negative about her-was so wrong."
Thanx to everyone who sent me this info!
I wanted to let you know that my local FYE store has a December 11 date for the Sony Greatest Hits and says it supposedly will have a David Morales megamix. I don't know if this is for sure though, cuz I don't know if he would do that to Mariah. But, another DJ could take the Morales mixes and do a megamix. I don't know, we'll see.

HI, Mariah Downunder.com is having a voting marothon becuse she really needs airplay and her single is realesed is less than a week in australia! Please go to www.mariahdownunder.com, and VOTE, she really needs our help and votes, in austrila thanks!
Ok, I just found this review of her new album from an English newspaper called "The Sun" (www.thesun.co.uk) and I thought I'd share it with you guys!
Whenever the word *Mariah* rolls off my tongue words such as "beautiful Butterfly" and "a Fantasy Dreamlover" comes to mind. Many come and go but Ms. Carey manages to stay in our minds and CD collections constantly. Not only is she one of the few artists who can REALLY saaaaaang but her beauty and grace is mesmerising and 'Heartbreaking'. With "Glitter" she clearly proves that her talent shines at its best and while Janet searches for 'someone to call her lover' Mariah certainly has me begging to be her 'Loverboy'.
Charles Wanes. /The Sun
The 2nd was sent to me from Maickel, of the Netherlands:
Recently we have been reading only negative reports in the press about diva Mariah Carey we have been told that she is completely gutterd after her split with her latin loverboy and that her music is hardly going anywere right now and yet her new album "Glitter" suggest the complete opposite.
Glitter is one of mariahs best albums of recent times and it certeinly improves on its predecessor Rainbow !! Glitter is also the soundtrack of Mariah's debut movie with also the name Glitter, contains 12 new tracks by the american diva the 80's are relived both in the movie and on the album and that means a number of great dance numbers ass well as the familiar dramatic mariah ballads they include "Don't Stop", "All My Life", "Didn't Mean To Turn You On" and the ubiquitous "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" with the great eighties beat !!! the album has a pop-feel to it here and there it is realy funky and in fact we can't wait to see the film wich will appear very shortly !!!!
Make sure you enjoy the typical Mariah ballads : "Reflections", "Lead The Way" and the fabulous "Never Too Far" !!!
also make sure to keep your eyes dry with the almost to beautiful song "Twister". Final : this is a great album and we think that everyone has the right to enjoy this album so go on and buy it now ........!!!!!!!!!

Stephanie hasn't finished the screen caps yet, so I will post those tomorrow
Now comes another obstacle - her former label Sony. After announcing that they would release a 3 CD set of her earlier albums later this year, Sony has now announced that they will release a greatest hits album that will include all of her past hits, never before heard tracks, and various remixes.
"Sony knows what they're doing," said Jeff Starks, entertainment coordinator of 96.9 FM, "Mariah is now back to promoting her new album and they want to fill the market with as much Mariah as they can, so the consumer will get so sick of her that they will move on."
During the summer, before her breakdown, Carey claimed that Sony, specifically CEO Tommy Mottola, was undermining an attempt to destroy her career. At the time, many believed it was the initial signs of her breakdown, now many are resigning to Carey's claims. "When you are an artist like Mariah who can sing from a cable guide and get a hit and suddenly you stop getting one, one might think that they (the artist) would begin to pass blame, but in this case it now seems to be legit," said Starks.
But Carey has a few tricks under sleeve. In the coming of weeks Carey's face will be on practically every major network and cable channel known to man. First up was Tuesday's night VH1 Fashion Award where Carey dazzled the audience with a subdued edition of her latest song, "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life". This Friday you can catch Carey on the Radio City Music Hall where she will sing a medley and if that's not enough expect to see Carey serenade Patti Labelle at BET Walk Of Fame next Tuesday and show her support for America on the televised edition of "United We Stand" on ABC next Friday.
But wait there's more. CBS will feature Carey on their "Home For the Holidays" special in December; NBC is in negotiations to feature Carey at their annual Central Park tree lighting special, Barbara Walters will sit down with Carey on 20/20 and even Ally McBeal will step on the Carey bandwagon featuring her in an episode to air Jan. 7 of next year. Not to mention the countless award shows that Carey is sure to be apart of. "It's a music war and we'll have to wait and see who will win," said Sparks. Let the battle begin.

'NSYNC, Santana On Spanish Version Of Jackson's 'What More Can I Give'
"Todo Para Ti" ("What More Can I Give") will also include the talents of Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Boyz II Men, Jon Secada, Julio Iglesias, Ruben Blades, Brian McKnight, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys (news - web sites), Luis Miguel, Destiny's Child, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Laura Pausini, Joy Enriquez, and Alejandro Sanz, as well as the song's writer, Michael Jackson. The recording is a "We Are The World"-style collaboration helmed by Grammy Award-winning producer K.C. Porter, whose credits include Santana's 1999 Grammy-winning album Supernatural.
Porter tells LAUNCH how he got involved with the recording. "We actually started an organization called Oneness a while back that is promoting racial unity through music and the arts. The attorney that is representing our organization actually happened to be representing Michael's company on this project. And he knew that I was pretty much the guy who does so much of the Spanish versions out there: from Bon Jovi to Toni Braxton to Boyz II Men to you name it. We've, you know, we've done so much of that."
Porter says that more and more artists are being added to the recording, and that he would especially like to include one or two Middle Eastern artists as well. "I already knew some of the people from Middle East that could be part of this, and I just didn't know how strange it would be or not. I don't even know if Michael's, you know, what his feeling is on that. I didn't even mention it to Michael, but what I would like to do is to get somebody in the studio like Cheb Mami and have him just put a little, a little flair inside there that people kind of hear and go, 'Oh wow, that's you know...' that really makes people think. But it's not like a real in-your-face thing, but hopefully we might try to, or I might try sneak a little vibe in there."
The Spanish-language version of "What More Can I Give" should be available for release within the next couple of weeks.

Virgin Pops Its Berry
With industry vet Alain Levy replacing Berry early last week, the ex-Mrs. Berry wasn't too far behind. Amid financial woes, Levy's been charged with restructuring the label's management after it presided over the worst U.S. sales of all Big Five music labels.
Then there was Berry herself, who's been behind several recent missteps--most notably the decision to sign Mariah Carey to a whopping $80 million contract earlier this year (right before the pop diva's mental breakdown) and a much-publicized tiff with the band Custom, whose lead singer claimed Berry sexually harassed him and left threatening messages on his answering machine.
That, combined with predictions of a 20 percent drop in profits this year, spelled the end for the Berry regime. Berry, 42, is not expected to be replaced. Virgin copresidents Ray Cooper and Ashley Newton remain in place.
"We are grateful for Nancy's hard work and dedication over the years," Levy said in a statement. "She is a talented record executive who has made great contributions to the development of Virgin Records."
In her own statement, Berry said "it has been a great pleasure working at Virgin Records over so many years with such a range of great artists and people. I wish all of my colleagues success in the future."
Her departure marks the end of an era at Virgin, which was well-documented in the music biz. The self-described "rock girl" was just 19 when she joined Virgin in 1978 as Ken Berry's assistant. She eventually married Berry and, after his promotion to EMI's top music job in 1997, rose through the ranks.
Billboard magazine once called her "the Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) of the global recording business," and she's credited with launching successful global marketing campaigns for the likes of the Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz and David Bowie.
At the same time, British tabloids reveled in chronicling her party-girl exploits. (The Mail on Sunday's most recent story on Berry is headlined, "The Virgin Bitch.") And a 1997 Forbes magazine article described Berry as a "former groupie" whose relationships with some performers are "well, let's just say they're unusually close."
Ken Berry defended his wife's honor that same year, telling the Los Angeles Times that "she is not interested in sleeping with our roster of acts. That is not what she is about." (The couple separated last year and are still in the process of getting a divorce.)
Not helping her image, meanwhile, was a much-publicized dispute earlier this year with the Canadian rock band Custom, which was allowed to leave Virgin Records after a run-in with Berry.
The lead singer, Duane Levold, considered filing a harassment claim against Berry after she allegedly left him a series of threatening voicemail messages. Levold purportedly mixed the voicemails into a tape and delivered a copy to EMI's legal department--and shortly afterward, Custom was freed from its contract.
Berry also sustained criticism after leading the charge in signing Mariah Carey to a four-album, $80 million recording contract. But already, the deal appears to be a bust: Aside from Carey's recent hospitalization, the songbird's first disc for Virgin was the soundtrack to the film Glitter, which tanked at the box office. The disc has sold just 326,000 copies since its September 11 release.
Early industry rumblings were that, with the Berrys now gone, Levy was going to try to renegotiate Carey's megabucks contract, or try to drop her altogether. But in a statement, Carey voiced her support for the new big wigs.
"I've had a great experience with Ken Berry," she said, "and I look forward to working with Alain Levy."

Mariah is gonna be on Extra. She'll be talking about the Radio awards. Also, Don't Stop was #10 today on TRL, in the info thing that flashes, it said:
I used to slam people into lockers. --
I wasn't really bad. It was all just a facade.--
Extra is a syndicated show which airs at different times everywhere, so check TV listings for the time and channel
I recieved this from a radio station after I apologized for mass emailing for one time, plz don't do it, we are hurting Mariah rather than helping her~
"I just had lunch with Sony music today and they admit that they are getting tons of complaints about Mariah's "fan club" emailing radio and its backfiring. If you're as sensible as I think you are, please tell your friends to simply CALL their station, Mass email does NOT work, it actually works backwards."
Thanks
Here is another from an angry radio manager:
You won't be listening for it because you and the other record guy (who left all the names of the different jocks he forwarded the same e-mail to attached to it) aren't even in this market....you probably aren't even in this state. You are padding requests for Mariah....seems that no one but you and this other guy are feelin' that record here....so until we start getting some REAL listener feedback, you can keep the "requests" for some other sucker. Do you think this helps or hurts the record? I mean you are so blatantly a record person..."I recently saw the video @ #5 on TRL and was blown away"...who talks like that? Record cats, that's who. So do think that I or anyone else who is onto your "brilliant" scheme are gonna take any Mariah requests seriously, or don't you think that in the back of our mind we may be thinking it's just you and people like you. I ask again...do u think this helps or hurts the record?
So plz guys don't request by e-mail, plz call in! We must restore Mariah's good name. Let's change our image. This is why there is such a Mariah backlash b/c MASS E-MAILING is annoying and not good. I beg you. Please lambs I beg stop, help Mariah regain respect.
ATTENTION ALL MARIAH FANS!
TOWERING TRIBUTE
After two weeks at No. 1, Ja Rule's ''Pain Is Love'' slipped to No. 3 (158,000 copies). Ozzy Osbourne debuted at No. 4 with ''Down to Earth'' (152,525 sold), his first studio album in six years. Remaining at No. 5 was Nickelback's ''Silver Side Up'' (126,375 units). The rest of the top 10 were also holdovers, including ''Totally Hits 2001'' (No. 6), Linkin Park's ''Hybrid Theory'' (No. 7), Jay-Z's ''The Blueprint'' (No. 8), Usher's ''8701'' (No. 9), and Alicia Keys' ''Songs in A Minor'' (No. 10). Watch for a possible shakeup next week, however, with new albums by DMX and Bush.
Sony has another patriotic benefit compilation coming out next month: a two disc set of music from last weekend's Concert for New York, with live performances by Paul McCartney, Elton John, Billy Joel, John Mellencamp, and others. VH1, which coproduced the six hour show and aired it live, will probably reair it, while sister network CBS will whittle it down to a two-hour rebroadcast. No word on whether either the CBS airing or the CD will feature New York firefighter Mike Moran, who told the Madison Square Garden crowd and a worldwide audience that Osama bin Laden can ''kiss my royal Irish ass'' and dared, ''I live in Rockaway Beach. This is my face, bitch!''

Mariah Carey will be as a guest star in "Ally McBeal"
After the "not so good" critics of her role in "Glitter", the singer will join to actrees Calista Flockhart and company in the shooting of the episode called "Playing With Matches", which will be on air on Fox, 7th january 2.002.
Mariah also will take the stage of the night club of Mc Beal, when, apparently she will sing "Lead the Way", a song from her last album, the platinum "Glitter".
For this season of "Ally Mc Beal", Fox will have as guest stars, besides of Mariah, Elton John, Jon Bon Jovi and Jacqueline Bisset. This is one of the many public appearances that Mariah did, after her hospitalization in august.
Last friday, Carey performed at VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards and on sunday she was singing on the charity event "United We Stand" in Washington DC, with Michael Jackson and others stars. Mariah, who had been acting on the big screen last year, with a little participation in the film of Chris O'Donnell, "The Bachelor", will be with Mira Sorvino on the independent film "Wisegirls", which will be open next year.

Charity single insider.
Roger Friedman
The single begins with Celine Dion speaking, followed by Michael and a cast of popstars including Luther Vandross, Usher, Hanson, Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana, Reba McIntyre, Tom Petty, Destiny's Child and their lead singer Beyonce Knowles, the Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, his little brother Aaron Carter, Mya, Luis Miguel, Ziggy Marley, Gloria Estefan, Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman and Skakira. 'N Sync isn't on the record yet, but is set to be added Saturday in Washingon. Britney Spears will not be on the record.
I will tell you that the one vocalist other than Mariah and Celine who really stands out in the current mix is Luther Vandross. The producer of the single is Mark Shaffel, who works for Jackson on various projects at NeverLand Studios.
There is one possible drawback that critics may find: The song's chorus sounds very much like Michael's "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" from his 1987 Bad album. "What More Can I Give?" will be available in English and Spanish versions, and will most likely be released as a CD single by Sony Music.
Hopefully this song will be on radio soon!

Proceeds from "What More Can I Give" will go to September 11 relief efforts, but Jackson's reps have not announced what organizations will receive the funds. Both the English and Spanish versions of the song are expected to be completed by the end of the week, according to KC Porter, who is producing the Spanish version and assisting Jackson in producing the English version.
"It really is the same feeling you get from 'We Are the World,'" Porter said Monday, referring to the 1985 charity single that benefited famine-relief efforts in Ethiopia. That song featured hordes of pop stars recruited by the song's writers - Jackson, Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie and Harry Belafonte. "The feeling that I'm getting from everyone is they want to do what they can do whole-heartedly, selflessly. The whole vibe of the artistic community has changed - it's not only about 'me' anymore, it's about what we can all do to provide for the whole of humanity. It's an awakening."
Porter initially translated the song's title literally for the Spanish version but changed it to "Todo Para Ti" ("Everything for You") after Jackson vetoed the directly translated title as sounding too clumsy. Though the tracks are more or less the same musically, only a handful of stars will do double-duty and appear on both the English and Spanish versions. They include Jackson, Carey, Dion, Gloria Estefan, Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin and Jon Secada. Porter currently has 'NSync framing Jackson's lyrics in the chorus of the English version, but the mix is pending Jackson's approval. The producer also may place them in the background on the Spanish version, though the boy band only recorded the lyrics in English.
Jackson and Porter have been flying around the country over the past few weeks to record with the different contributors, and the sessions have been videotaped for a music video. A video shoot was planned for Monday but fell through, Porter said. Also among the artists slated to appear on the songs, according Jackson's reps, are: Destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, Tom Petty, Shakira, Usher, Julio Iglesias, Reba McEntire, Luther Vandross, Brian McKnight, Aaron Carter, Billy Gilman, Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman, Alejandro Sanz, Christian Castro, Olga Tañón, Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, Thalía, Ziggy Marley and 3LW.
Porter said he's still hopeful to place a few more artists on the song, citing a wish list of Toni Braxton, Alicia Keys and Aretha Franklin. Jackson's people initially named Britney Spears as a participant, but she was never confirmed, a source close to the project said.

I have some news for your site. I just got word that Mariah is going to be in Mary's new video for the song "No More Drama". I'm sending you a picture from the video shoot. Word also has it that Mariah is going to be on the remix for the song but that is not confirmed yet. As you probably know, Mary has been showing alot of support for Mariah since her breakdown and Mariah being in the hospital. Mary spoke openly about Mariah in a few interviews, most recently in Pulse Magazine saying:
"People ask me what I think of Mariah Carey and her condition, but that is not for me to judge. I love Mariah Carey and she saved my life plenty of days. I remember when I was on top and then I wasn't on top anymore and all those friends had gone. That is where she is right now. We need to reach out to her and pray for her and let her know she is loved. If you focus on being good to people, that is what you will get in return. Speak life. I am a living example of Christ being real."
Here is what she said about the article:
That's from Pulse magazine. I see why Mary chose Mariah for the video cuz Mariah been having nothing but Drama these last few months and this is a way of Mary inviting Mariah on a journey to try and have "No More Drama" in their lives!
October 23rd 2001...(8:00 pm EST)
You'd really need to have walked in Mariah Carey's shoes to understand how she ended up with a complete physical and mental breakdown. These are the sentiments of producer Jimmy "Jam" Harris, who helmed the soundtrack for Carey's upcoming "Glitter" film with his partner Terry Lewis. "I heard somebody say the other day, 'If you're exhausted, don't you just go lay down and turn off the cell phone?' And I thought to myself, 'Yeah if you lead a normal life, but Mariah is never at home to do that. She's either in a hotel room or on a plane, and there's always something going on... You push yourself too hard, and there's a point where your body and mind goes 'unn, unn.' A lot of times we are not the best judge of where we're at and what our limits are."
Harris first heard about Carey being hospitalized when he logged on the Internet. "We really saw no warning of it. The last discussion I had with Mariah was a day or two before she'd been hospitalized. She called me at home to go over some notes about a single and was totally coherent." Harris recalls that Carey did seem "a little bit scattered," but says, "she always sounds scattered because she always has a million things going on with her."
Carey exec-produced "Glitter" and was also totally hands-on with the soundtrack album that features such guest artists as Eric Benet, Da Brat, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule and Mystikal(cq all). He says, "Mariah was very energized and excited about the project and very pleased with the result of the movie and the music. I hope not only that she gets better, but that she gets a chance to enjoy it and bask in the glow of something she worked really hard on."
(Teen Hollywood)
This will be just in time to suck the life out of any possible way to get Glitter back into sales racks since the thinking goes that fans will want the old songs first. But Mariah has a few ideas up her sleeve. She's performing a medley of "Never Too Far Away" and "Hero" at the Radio Awards next week. She's also set to appear on Ally McBeal in January, where she'll sing "Lead the Way," the best song from Glitter.
I've got to tell you that no matter what Sony pulls, this is the record to bring Mariah back to the public. As long as Mariah makes a tasteful well thought out video, this could be a chance for her to separate the album from the disaster of the movie. Has it been done before? The Coyote Ugly soundtrack is a good example of a record that outlasted its awful movie of the same name. And now that Carey has her old promo guy, Jerry Blair, calling the shots, I smell success in the air.
Source: Fox411
Inside, Mariah Carey's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" was the antithesis of Lenny's no-frills approach. As DJ Clue and Fabolous spun records and rhymes, an onstage door opened to reveal Carey astride a motorcycle. She sashayed down to Fab while singing the famous disco track. Carey, in a black dress and visible bra, primped and strutted for the audience as a gaggle of muscle men dressed in sleeveless black tuxedos, hot-pink bow ties and matching Kangol hats shimmied on a lit runway.

It's official: Ally McBeal has become The Love Boat of the new millennium.
So it only makes sense producers would need their own Charo. Enter Mariah Carey, who in the latest round of stunt casting has signed on for a guest appearance on Fox's quirky legal series.
Despite getting slammed for her acting chops in the box-office dud Glitter, the recovering songbird will join Calista Flockhart and company when production begins this month on the episode, titled "Playing With Matches," scheduled to air January 7.
The installment will feature Carey, along with the introduction of Jon Bon Jovi's recurring character and the return of Jami Gertz's Kimmy Bishop, who files a lawsuit against a dating service after it refunds her money and declares her "unmatchable." Carey will somehow figure into the lawsuit plot, and she'll be belting out her new single "Lead the Way," from the Glitter soundtrack.
It is one of many appearances Carey has booked since her recent mental breakdown and hospitalization. Carey performed Friday at the VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards, and on Sunday, Carey struggled somewhat during her performance at the United We Stand benefit concert in Washington, D.C.
The good news is that Ally McBeal has become the unofficial 13th step for recovering celebrities. Carey joins a handful of other troubled stars who have sought refuge in the law offices of Cage & Fish, including Robert Downey Jr. and Anne Heche.
Already this season, the Fox series has enlisted the celebrity assistance of Elton John, Bon Jovi, Jacqueline Bisset and Dame Edna Everage.
Carey also joins a long list of musician-types to have lent their services to the David E. Kelley show, including Macy Gray, Gloria Gaynor, Chubby Checker, Barry Manilow and Sting.
Source: E! Online
The singer will also take the stage at McBeal's nightclub hangout to perform "Lead the Way," according to a representative for David E. Kelley, the show's creator. The song is featured on the soundtrack to Carey's big-screen venture, "Glitter."
Carey, who follows in the guest-role footsteps of Elton John, Sting and Chubby Checker on the show, will shoot her part in Los Angeles this week.
Set to air January 7, "Playing With Matches" will also mark the debut of Jon Bon Jovi in a recurring role as a potential love interest for McBeal.
"If you saw 'Moonlight and Valentino,' that's who I am,' " Bon Jovi said Saturday, referring to his 1995 movie role as a house painter who turns the crank of every woman around. "Basically I'm doing nine episodes as a way for my movie career to continue to grow."
He said he planned to shoot "Ally McBeal" through Valentine's Day and then turn his attention to the next Bon Jovi record.

Her episode also coincides with the introduction of Jon Bon Jovi, who is joining the cast as a love interest for Ally (Calista Flockhart). Meanwhile, Carey's comeback from her emotional breakdown was further set in motion with a performance at
Friday's taping of the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, which will air Tuesday night on VH1.
Thanx MUCH to Cait for this article!
The memorable night began with the Backstreet Boys singing the American national anthem and ended 11 hours later, (the gig was a full three hours more than scheduled), with an allstar line up helping Michael Jackson perform his new benefit song What More Can I Give? under a sea of red, white and blue confetti.
'We can't let them defeat us,' said Kevin Richardson. 'We have to get up, get out and live our lives every day.' The show also included Usher, Pink, O Town, the Goo Goo Dolls, Rod Stewart and Al Green. 'N Sync performed an acoustic version of their hit Bye Bye Bye while Combs performed in US army fatigues.
Jackson sang just one song on his own, his '80s hit Man In The Mirror, draping himself in an American flag while a platform raised him over the crowd. Then he introduced many of the acts who'd just performed to sing his benefit single United We Stand: What More Can I Give?
He told the crowd, 'Tonight we all stand united and ask, `What more can I give?' To the families of the victims of September 11 that are here with us tonight, you are not alone. You are in our hearts, you are in our thoughts and you are in our prayers.' While the song was somewhat spoiled by a few technical glitches, and some of Jacko's famous collective backing singers were seen at times to fumble for the right words.
Despite this the overpowering chorus carried the message through and it was obviously sung with heartfelt emotion. The concert is expected to raise $2 million to $3 million for the American Red Cross Liberty Relief Fund, the Salvation Army Relief Fund and the Pentagon Relief Fund.
At the request of the White House, the concert's organisers added the Rewards for Justice Fund rewardsfund.org to the list of charitable organizations that will receive proceeds from the event. The fund offers reward payments to identify and apprehend individuals who are planning, or have committed terrorist acts.

Millions Raised By Weekend Benefit Concert
In Washington, D.C., a sold-out RFK Stadium crowd of 46,000 watched performances by dozens of artists, including the Backstreet Boys, Bette Midler, 'N Sync, Aerosmith, and Michael Jackson. United We Stand: What More Can I Give, which grossed about $3 million in ticket sales, was produced by CCE. The concert benefited the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and the Pentagon Relief Fund.
And the United We Stand concert will continue to raise money through a Nov. 1 ABC television broadcast of highlights from the concert. Hosted by actor John Stamos, the two-hour presentation will feature performances by the Backstreet Boys, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Martin, Carole King, P. Diddy, James Brown, and Train. The show, which will solicit donations through a Web site and toll-free phone number during the broadcast, will close with Jackson leading many of the event's participating artists in an all-star finale of his song "What More Can I Give."

Mariah Carey to Stick with Acting
World Entertainment News Network
Singer and actress MARIAH CAREY is refusing to rule out a career on the silver screens of Hollywood - despite receiving scathing criticisms for her role in GLITTER.
The 31-year-old sex symbol is hoping to sink her teeth into more screen roles, although she insists she'll never ditch her first love, music, for a chance to truly shine as a Hollywood star.
She says, "It's hard to decide which creative thing I enjoy most. I have been singing since I started talking. I have been a songwriter most of my life. I enjoy acting as well. I look forward to further projects, one which I just completed. It allows me to use a different side to my creativity."
But Carey, who is set to hit screens next year in her new movie WISE GIRLS alongside MIRA SORVINO, does admit that film-making isn't exactly what she'd originally thought it would be. She continues, "There are a lot of variables, directors, producers, and a lot of people who are in control and it's their vision. It is a different situation and in life I like to go through different situations.
"It is different than making a record, but I enjoyed it and look forward to my next acting experience. I will never stop writing and singing songs. I felt acting in this film made me more connected to the music."
The singer also admits that the acting lessons she took in preparation for her movie debut have boosted her confidence levels.
She also sent us a site award called the "Constellation Platinum Award". Here is what she said about the site:
Thank you so much Kelley! To see her award for us, go HERE

Hey, Danielle!
I've just seen the lead the way video on channel v!! it's mariah in the studio recording the song, wearing a white top, and a pair of trousers that has the letter "M" on it. then it shows someone doing makeup for her, and many of her recent photo shoots. they even have the picture of the lead the way single cover, but not only the face. we could see her body there too. that's a really nice picture. then it goes back to the studio and at the end of the video, it has lots of mariah at the same time - all are still photos taken from the photo shoot that has been published by the sunday times magazine 3 months ago, some of which we haven't seen before. and at the end it's the big glitter logo. it changes from the original logo to the purple one at the end. i wish mariah would do a brand new video for the song but it's also cool to see this one. i'm so surprised about it because i've never expected it. no one has talked about it before too and so i just feel like informing you about it. =)

I will be posting more pics from the apartment as soon as he sends more. The article is 2 1/2 pages long, so go pick it up right now!!
On the Extratv.com website today, there is a top story interview with Mariah and also a video link of the actual interview. Check it out.
Mariah Carey Interview Thursday October 11, 2001:
Sitting down exclusively with "Extra," the songbird shares her fears as the U.S. plunges deeper into war. Carey cancelled her international promotional tour for "Glitter" for safety reasons and says, for now, she's focusing on the home front.
She says, "My apartment is pretty close to Ground Zero, and the police commissioner took me on a tour. It was the most devastating thing I've ever seen in my life."
For Mariah, the tragedy truly hit close to home. Carey was born and raised in New York, and she has faith the people here can rebuild their lives. Carey says, "I know New York is going to recover from this. I know the world is gonna recover from what's gone on, but just growing up in New York, for me, it's going to take a while."
Mariah, an idol to millions of fans, says it was during her tour of the ruins that she met America's real heroes. Carey also spent time at a family center, offering support to families who lost loved ones. She says, "All the stories, they're all heartbreaking, but it's nice to see how people have bonded together to find relief."
Mariah's relief efforts came in a song. She performed her hit ballad "Hero" at last month's celebrity telethon, which to date has raised more than 150-million dollars, but Mariah doesn't want credit for her efforts. She says this time she is just one voice in a chorus trying to help the country heal.
Mariah says, "I'm an American and I'm here just trying to get by like everybody else and do my part to help."

Extra Weekly Report
Carey in Demand
Singer/Songwriter turn actress Mariah Carey is apparently in high demand according to a Hollywood Source. Carey, whose movie "Glitter" opened to dismal reviews and a disappointing 2.5 million at the box office (the movie is expected to end its run with 6 million made in the US box office) seems to be on a list of some major Hollywood producers.
"Many people who saw 'Glitter' admits that it was horribly written, but Mariah's performance was considered very subtle with potential," exclaims Bruce Evans a movie producer. "She has an undeniable look to her that makes her very pleasing onscreen. Many see her to become something special as long as she picks the right the scripts."
Several Hollywood observers are buzzing about Carey's upcoming performance in the tentatively titled film, "Wise Girls". Carey is said to be one of the highlights in the movie. In fact, director David Anspaugh is said to be scouting another script to feature Carey, who he considers, "a natural onscreen".
But Carey's appeal is not just geared towards the big screen. Producers of "Ally McBeal" and "My Wife and Kids" are rumored to be in talks with the singer to appear in an episode of their show.
"When you are a big name like Mariah Carey, regardless of your movie's success, you are going to be in demand," said Evans, "She looks to have a bright future in Hollywood."

Mariah in Britain
On a whirlwind stop in the UK, the best-selling female artist of the 90s talks about her new album, Rainbow, her remixes, her forthcoming movie All That Glitters and the bad girl who's co-hosting her world tour!
Is it true that Rainbow came about almost by accident?
I wasn't even going to do an album, this was like a fluke and I did "Heartbreaker" for All That Glitters then they pushed the date back and I was like, "I'm not wasting this, I'm putting it out now". So I did an album in two months which I'm actually very proud of and I think there are some songs that are some of the best I've ever written. I'm not going to say I think it's the best album I've ever done 'cause I have to say that I think Butterfly is the closest to my heart, but if I could make my favourite album it would be a combination of those two albums and a few select songs from older albums, like "Underneath the Stars" and "Fantasy" and all stuff like that.
Tell us about "They Can't Take That Away" (Mariah's Theme), is that the definitive Mariah track?
It's got elements of things I've said before about self belief and all that stuff but really it was motivated by this one day when I was feeling very angry towards a couple of people and feeling very... I don't know, taken advantage of and a whole bunch of stuff. And I was writing this song and as I was writing it, I realised it was a theme a lot of people can relate to. I started thinking about a lot of the tragic stuff that's gone on for the last year and a half in schools and junior highs, it really does stem from kids feeling segregated in different groups and feeling alienated: If young girls or guys are ragging on you because you're not in the in-crowd, or you don't look right or act right, or you're different in some way, they can't take your spirit away.
Is that the message in your music?
That pretty much sums it all up. I mean I've written other stuff that I feel that way about, but not the singles. Most people only know me from what songs they hear on the radio, which are not the most representative of me artistically. I wrote a song on the Butterfly album called "Outside" which is all about me being mixed race and me feeling alienated in a lot of ways because of that but I think anyone can relate to that. Anyone who's from a slightly different group, whatever, be it race, weight, orientation, religion whatever it might be... so I wrote that song and it never came out. I think this song pretty much embodies my whole vibe.
Your remixes are getting further and further away from the original song...
What people don't realise is that most artists don't go in and re-sing and rewrite their songs. It's not like those songs are getting played on pop stations. Or hip hop stations. Or any radio stations. It's only for the underground clubs and it's important to me, an important fan base to me and it's fun for me. I enjoy doing that over the top out there club diva style record.
And that's true of "Thank God I Found You" too.
Actually my new single, "Thank God I Found You" which is coming out really soon has a special version of the song on it that is only available on the single not the album. I would've put it on the album but I didn't have time. It's a remake of a Keith Sweat song that was one of my favourite songs - I don't want to say growing up because it was out when I was in high school or right after. It's like a classic r'n'b song and it's a remake and it incorporates the original lyrics to "Thank God I Found You".
Actually we wrote new lyrics and used the chorus, and Nas is rhyming on it and he's one of my favourite rappers. Joe is singing on it with me too. I don't know if I like that version of the song better than the pop version, they're both really different but I like them a lot and I think for Valentine's Day, the title "Thank God I Found You, (Make It Last Forever)" is very appropriate.
What mark would you say you've made with your music over the last ten years?
I would say what people don't necessarily realise... they think that I made this great shift with Butterfly and went hip-hop. But "Vision Of Love" - not that it was a hip hop record obviously - but it was a number one r'n'b record first. And I worked with Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg on this record and both of them independently of each other said, "When 'Vision Of Love' came out that was my favourite song!" I grew up in New York and hip hop's been around a lot longer than people in other countries realise. I remember listening to "Rapper's Delight" when I was in fifth grade, rewinding it over and over. Just the collaborations and merging my music and just being able to prove - I don't want to say the record company - but certain people in the record company wrong [has been a great achievement]. They were like "You're crazy to be doing a song with Old Dirty Bastard and if they'd have heard his album, they wouldn't have let me do it but I kind of snuck that in when I did "Fantasy" and it's one of my biggest records. I think crossing racial and musical lines and boundaries is very important to me. And this is not a musical thing, well, in a way it is, but I'm proud of being multi-format which is what we call it in America because most people are not on Hot 97 or Power 106, the biggest hip hop stations in the country, and also on an adult contemporary station or pop station. But that's something that's been a monumental achievement for me. It's what I love to do.
With a string of awards to your name, does it make you scared to release new material in case it's not as successful?
No, definitely not. The year I came out, six months after I came out, you know and had "Vision Of Love", I won two Grammys and I didn't even appreciate the feeling of what that was. I got up there and I was just like a scared nervous kid who had to sing in front of Aretha Franklin sitting there. I was like, "What am I doing here?" Now I appreciate awards even more. Especially, something like the Billboard Awards or the American Music Awards, those things are coming from the fans basically, they're coming from the people... The reason I won the Billboard Award was because it's a historical thing in terms of sales and singles and all that. It's all because of devoted fans going out and spending their hard-earned money to buy my songs or spending their time to request my songs. And these are songs that I've written and songs that are close to me, so I feel like it validates - not that you need an award to validate your artistry, you shouldn't - but because I work like a dog 24 hours a day, maybe 21 hours a day. I felt really satisfied.
Do you think your British fans are different to your American ones?
I think each fan is an individual and I wouldn't want to generalise like that. There are amazing fans in every place I go who are really devoted and give me books and things, there are two girls that are outside every time I come here. I feel like I know them so well. Every time I've come, they've been here and they wait when it's freezing cold and have pictures from the last time and write me really nice notes. There are people all around the world that I feel I have a connection with. I really have a strong connection to my fans and I think that they know that and think that's why they are so loyal to me.
Tell us about the forthcoming movie, All That Glitters.
It's set in the early 80s, the club scene after disco, like the Pyramid, the Garage, all those clubs, the writer is Kate Lanier who wrote What's Love Got To Do With It? and Set It Off. I've been studying acting for two and a half three years. When I was little I studied too, but it was squashed for a while, I wasn't allowed to do it. But I feel this humungous need to do this and I'm writing the songs for the soundtrack. I'm working with probably Rick James, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and possibly Teena Marie. So I'm really looking forward to doing it, because it's going to be a nod to my childhood. My character and her relationship to this DJ and what happens to them with their rise.
Finally, we're going to see Bianca, the bad girl from your "Heartbreaker" video, on tour. Can you channel her for us here and now?
If you want a quote from her, I'll give you a quote from her. Hopefully we can give you a picture of Bianca too because I want to make sure that when she's there hosting the show that people know who she is. Well, Bianca said: "Actually I was born Lady Petronella Snide but I didn't want my class to interfere with my success so my publicist suggested that I change my name to Bianca to emphasise my exotic good looks and my jaw-line. And I don't usually do interviews with normal people. I actually quite often interview the royals because we are related distantly, so...' But Bianca's problem is that she slips out of that and then we realise that she's not who she says she is!
Lindsay Pagano, who's just finished recording Love&Faith&Inspiration on Warner Bros. records
I've read about some of your influences like Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey- but are there any contemporary musicians that you admire?
Nelly Furtado and Alicia Keys. I love Alicia Keys...What I love about Nelly is that she's really interesting. There's nothing that you could say bad about her. Her music is funky, she's gorgeous and I think she could be the next big inspiration for everybody. Alicia Keys just blows me away.

A friend of mine just went to Pier 94 yesterday to apply for aid, and Mariah made a visit there to visit with all the families and people helping out and stuff. Pier 92 is where the red cross is at and FEMs. My friend said that they told people not to crowd her, and that she had on a light pink tank top and blue jeans and had her hair in a pony tail.

Hey Danielle,
Well I have kind exciting news well for me it was but umm.... I have a friend at my work who got me tickets to go to the Glitter premire on thursday night and oh my God I actually saw her up really close. She was soooo gracious and nice to her fans. I couldn't believe she actually stopped for almost every group of fans that were there and took pictures and signed autograhps and dude, it was soooo cool. The only reason I didn't get to meet her was because we were pushed back (by some rude people) so me and my friend were behind this power box so Mariah didn't see us, but she stoped for the fans next to us and I could hear her talking to them. She was sooo nice!!!! I got alot of pictures too but oh my god, it was amazing!!! And the movie was really good!!! Everybody was cheering at the end because it was so good. But um... I was really close to meeting her but ya know, I never even thought I would see her in person that close. It was unbelieveable!!! But umm... yeah so thats my story. Bye!!

This movie made me go through all the range of emotions! I laughed, I cried, I was touched, moved, scared, compassionate, etc. Mariah totally captivated me from beginning to end. And Billie! Isn't she lovely and appealing? I enjoyed the music, the story, the love relationship, everything! Also, I must say that the way it was shown was not cliché, at least not in my perspective. I really liked the script. All actors were very good as well and were perfectly fit in their characters. Finally, if you look closely, you will find some deep psychic notions such as precognitive dreams and telepathy between soulmates. Important keys that I didn't expect her to explore! But I should have known, it's Mariah! As for costumes and other visual aspects, I can't comment it cause I'm blind, so
it's out of my expertise. I've been told it was great! So globally, I loved Glitter, although I think they could have deepened certain aspects and put more emphasis on some characters like Eric Benet for instance.
Peggy
As she said in June, the album captures the musical feel of the movie's 1982 setting.
"There are songs that are definitely going to take people back and make them go, 'Oh, man, this song from the '80s — I loved it growing up,' " she said. "Or people who never heard the songs before might be like, 'This is cool.'
"When you see the movie, you're gonna see the uptempo songs and the songs that are remakes in there as they would have sounded in the '80s," she continued. "But the album is the way that I would make the record now, and the ballads can stand on their own as songs from a Mariah Carey album."
Make no mistake, while Carey's smiling grill is plastered on the album's cover, and it's being marketed more as a solo LP than a soundtrack, the singer called on quite a few of her friends to combine new and old-school vibes.
Besides the bevy of microphone bandits that perform on Glitter's first single, the remix to "Loverboy," and Ja Rule, who performs with Nate Dogg on "If We," Carey called on Busta Rhymes, Fabolous and Mystikal.
Busta and Fab join in on the DJ Clue and Duro-produced cover of "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life." Clue, who refers to Carey as "Wilma M. Holla" (Clue goes by the alias William M. Holla), provides a grittier bassline than the original; Fab rhymes, and Busta, who ad libs throughout, tells Mariah to lay the "smackdown" on listeners.
"Didn't Mean to Turn You On" is a remake of a 1984 Cherelle hit penned and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and later covered by Robert Palmer.
"Oh I told you twice," Carey sings, "I was only trying to be nice/ Only trying to be nice/ Sooooooo, I didn't mean to turn you on." Meanwhile, Jam and Lewis, who co-produced Carey's version of the song along with the singer, use keyboards and synthesizers instead of just sampling.
"Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)" is an uptempo reworking of Tom Browne's 1980 track. Guest star Mystikal dominates the song by rhyming three verses. "Ain't nothin' you could do with the man/ Except for shake your ass and clap your hands," he declares. Mariah spryly sings, "Don't stop bay-beee, its ex-ta-see/ Turn me up a little," on the hook.
Eric Benét sings with Carey about "exploring fantasies" on "Want You." For the ballad "Twister," apparently a chronology of her movie character Billie Frank's life, Carey takes the solo route.
"She was kind of fragile/ She had a lot to grapple with/ But basically kept it all inside," she sings lightly.

Shade Shiest: I don't think it's because she's Mariah Carey, I don't think she's being singled out. It's because anyone successful is always going to be the target of negativity. She's a wonderful person, she's like a big sister to both of us and I have never seen her act any different from her normal self which is just like any other person. She's talented and she's just a regular person.
Damizza: They say all these negative things about her like she dates rappers or about the way she dresses. If anybody were to meet her, they'd know she's Mary Poppins. She doesn't smoke, she hardly drinks, she doesn't do drugs. She's got a very sensitive voice so that if she walks into a room with smoke she can't sing for three days, or she can't talk. It's funny to be her friend and read all these things about her. Tabloids are always saying she's off on holiday but she's the hardest working person I've ever met in my life. She works 23 hours a day, literally, she never sleeps and she takes care of everybody.
When I hear someone say something about her I usually get offended because she gave me my shot, she gave Shade his shot, she gave us all our shots. She gave ODB his first light of day past Wu Tang Clan, and she invented the whole pop-rap collaboration. Nobody would have done a song with ODB at that level - this is a lady who'd sold a 100 million records at that point. She did not have to do that record, she wasn't trying to get street credibility. When we did 'Cry Baby' for her album a long time ago, I called Snoop and said what we wanted to do and he said "'Vision of Love' is my favourite record of all time." Everybody has a soft spot for Mariah. She's the greatest in the world.

movie-mistakes.com is a site that has some mistakes from movies. Here's Glitter's mistake:
In the scene where Mariah, is on the "not a date" with Dice, and they're having dinner, they start to talk and in the different shots you see that the amount of wine in the glasses changes in every shot.
Thanx MUCH to EranMC again for this info

The November Issue of Architectural Digest Visits Mariah Carey; Glitter And Glamour Sound A High Note In The Singer's New York Triplex
NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Oct. 9, 2001--As part of an exercise, Mariah Carey's drama coach once asked her to think back to a place in time where she really felt safe.
Carey thought and thought and came up empty. Not only had she grown up poor, but her Long Island neighbors also ridiculed her because her mother was white and her father was black. "I couldn't think back to a place that didn't give me a feeling of shakiness or some negative memory," she said.
Now a decade later, it's hard to imagine the world's most popular female vocalist feeling shaky in the glamorous surroundings of her Manhattan triplex designed by Mario Buatta. "I wanted to create a background for Mariah's own glamour," he says. "She exudes glamour---and sex appeal, too." And he has designed an apartment that is glamorous throughout.
The entrance hall boasts apricot lacquered walls, bronze-inlaid limestone flooring, doors gilded in silver leaf, and an Art Deco table with a carved and gilded base. The heart of her new apartment is a long room divided into three separate spaces, a living area, a dining area and an intimate, after-dinner conversation area. Carey's bath is pure luxury. Thirty-two feet long, longer than most Park Avenue living rooms, it is a place to relax and linger, with a huge sunken tub, a flat-screen television and a chaise longue covered in light pink fabric. The luxury doesn't end there--from her bath (of which there are more than ten in the apartment) she can walk to her clothes room, where outfits are arranged by color and type, and more closely resembles a floor of Bergdorf-Goodman than a closet. From there it's onto the shoe room which hold hundreds of pairs of the singers' favorites--more, she admits, than she will ever wear.
With her demanding travel schedule it was sometimes hard for Buatta to get her to focus on the project, but when he did, there was an instant connection. "She had a definite idea of what she wanted, and what things should look like" he says. "Most clients don't understand glitter," he added, "but Mariah does." (Pg. 245)

To vote for Mariah, you can click here. Now in the Coolest Fan Website, you can choose "other" and type in Mariah Daily, if you like this website. This suggestion does not come from me either, here is what ButtterfIi@aol.com wrote me:
Live versions recorded in New York of Mellencamp's "Peaceful World" and
Bruce Springsteen's "Land of Hope and Dreams" are both included. Modern pop
is represented on the disc by the likes of Mariah Carey's "Hero" and Billy
Gilman's "There's a Hero," but the collection also features songs from an
early age of American music, such as Frank Sinatra's take on "America the
Beautiful," which was originally released in 1945.
The label says "a substantial portion" of the proceeds from sales will be
donated to the Twin Towers Fund, which was established to provide assistance
to the families of New York City's uniformed services who were victims of
the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.
Here is the track list for "God Bless America":

and Sanaa has also done the editing for MC's "Around The World" Video and
DVD. So, I think that this video should look really good...the other videos are
hot!! "Don't Stop" should be scorching!

As you will all be aware from the circular, Mariah shot the 'Don't Stop' video this weekend in New Orleans with guest rapper Mystikal. The video looks set to be a visual feast with locations including a moss draped bayou deep in the swamp, and the famous Maple Leaf Bar in New Orleans itself - a jazz soaked speakeasy club where many famous jazz musicians play.
There will be a fair amount of post production on the video - including using effects to make multiple Mariah's! As a result we
expect delivery on 19th October.

Dear Danielle,
Lambs, take Mariah's advice, and make sure you get enough sleep and take care of yourselves, cuz believe me, you suffer so much if you miss out on your sleep. Our Mariah was a perfect example of that. Take care of yourselves, before anyone else! And now that I've given my lecture for tha day, have a great night till tomorrow! LOL Luv ya muches lambz!

No word on when Mariah is going to resume her promotional tour for Glitter or if she will even do one now. Here is an article from the New York Post today that Anna sent me:
Mariah expresses amazement that "people are so interested in the details of
my daily life [fabricated or not]." Well, let's see - perhaps they are
interested after you have a kind of nervous exhaustion breakdown in public
on the eve of opening a movie and kicking off a record tour and you end up
in the hospital - twice. And after you cancel a big sit-down with Barbara
Walters. Also, they could be interested simply because you have rather
relentless publicity designed to make people interested.Mariah says, "I took
a break just like anybody else and now I'm back to work. But really, how
much can somebody sleep? I'm not Rip Van Winkle." OK, I believe we said she
was eager, perhaps too eager, to go back to work.
Mariah: "Virgin Records couldn't be more supportive, and I'm very grateful
to have them in my corner. If anyone says otherwise, they're lying." Maybe
Mariah didn't read us very carefully. We said Virgin Records was supportive,
even though cancellations cost them money. We also said they wished she'd
take a rest. If they don't wish she'd take a rest for her own good, Virgin
should give us a statement to that effect.

The cards must show how you care about Mariah and please don't ask for hookups like number, address, concert tickets etc. Just try to make her feel good, the magazine says. Here is the address:

Hey Mariah fans! Mariah has NOT been doing well on TRL, however, she is beating out J. Lo everyday, which is the good news. The bad news is that her highest position is number 3. Come on fans, let's try and get her to number 1!! Please vote daily! We have to prove that we are the best fans of this artist. The fans of N' Sync and Backstreet Boys don't give up until their artist goes to number 1! Let's do the same thing and place Mariah at number 1 with N2F. Mariah had a breakdown for us, the least we could do is vote for her on TRL. To vote online: www.mtv.com Please vote online or call in. Thank you.

lie in the recent "Show Boat" revival, and Beesley, she's been surrounded by a strong cast that includes Dorian Harewood and Grant Nickalls as powerful record producers and Ann Magnuson, who contributes a welcome amusing note as an overbearing control-freak publicist. Da Brat and Texada also lend warmth, humor and energy, and Eric Benét has plenty of presence as the handsome performer who looks to be a potential partner professionally and otherwise in Billie's life if Dice doesn't shape up.
"Glitter" could have set its sights higher or at least could have been more even in tone, but there's no denying that the material fits Mariah Carey like one of her skin-tight gowns.
Wasn't that nice?
