Terms of Service: User Agreement and Website Usage Policies

These terms explain what you agree to when you read, browse, submit information to, or otherwise use Mariah Journal.

Last updated: July 10, 2026

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions

By using Mariah Journal, you agree to these Terms of Service and to any policies that apply to your use of the site, including our Privacy Policy.

These terms apply to every visitor, reader, commenter, contributor, and person who accesses the site in any way. You do not need to create an account or submit a form for these terms to apply. Opening a page, browsing an archive, using a search feature, following a link, or sending us a message through the site counts as use.

If you do not agree with these terms, do not use Mariah Journal. That is the cleanest line for both sides.

Plain-language note

These terms set the ground rules for using the site. They do not create an employment, partnership, agency, or client relationship between you and Mariah Journal.

We write and organize Mariah-related coverage, references, commentary, and site materials for general informational use. The site may include editorial judgment, archived context, cultural commentary, and references to public events. Your use of the site should respect that purpose.

Use License and Intellectual Property

Mariah Journal grants you a limited, personal, non-commercial license to access and view the content on this site. In practical terms, you may read an article, share a link with a friend, quote a short excerpt with clear attribution, or save a page for your own reference.

You may not copy, redistribute, scrape, republish, sell, license, or build a competing archive from our content without written permission. A link is fine. Reposting a full article to another site, newsletter, forum, or social account is not.

Ownership of site materials

Unless a page clearly says otherwise, the text, design elements, page structure, selection, arrangement, graphics, and original site materials belong to Mariah Journal or to the people and licensors who have given us permission to use them. Third-party names, images, music titles, album titles, trademarks, and other referenced materials remain the property of their respective owners.

We use some references because a site like this needs to identify people, works, performances, releases, and public moments with enough clarity for readers to understand the coverage. That use does not transfer ownership to us, and it does not give you permission to reuse the underlying third-party material in a way the law does not allow.

Allowed everyday use

Read pages, share links, reference brief excerpts with attribution, and use the site for personal research or enjoyment.

Permission required

Republish full posts, syndicate our work, extract large portions of the archive, or use site materials in commercial products.

If you want to use our material beyond normal personal reading and linking, contact us first through the Contact Us page. A specific request helps: tell us which page, what material, where it will appear, and whether the use is commercial.

Acceptable Use and Community Guidelines

Use the site in a lawful, respectful way. That standard covers both visible activity, such as submitting a message, and behind-the-scenes activity, such as how a browser, bot, script, or tool interacts with the site.

Information you submit

If you send information to Mariah Journal, submit only material that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and not fraudulent, misleading, impersonating someone else, or designed to cause harm. A correction note about a tour date should name the page and the source you want us to review. A fake claim sent under another person’s name breaks trust and may lead us to disregard the submission.

Security and availability

Do not interfere with the site’s security, performance, availability, or normal operation. This includes attempts to bypass access controls, probe systems, overload pages with automated requests, inject malicious code, harvest data at scale, or disrupt the experience of other readers.

We may block, limit, or remove access for activity that appears abusive, unlawful, automated in a harmful way, or inconsistent with these terms. We do not need to wait for visible damage before taking action to protect the site.

Respectful conduct

Unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, abusive, obscene, hateful, or invasive activity is not permitted. The same goes for spam, scams, phishing attempts, and messages that pressure staff, readers, or contributors to share private information.

Passionate music discussion belongs here. Personal attacks do not.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Mariah Journal provides site content on an “as is” and “as available” basis for general information, commentary, and reader interest. We work to keep pages useful and readable, but we do not promise that every item will be complete, current, uninterrupted, error-free, or suited to a specific purpose.

No warranty of completeness or fitness

Music history moves through interviews, label materials, performances, fan memory, public records, and archive fragments. A release note might be updated after a better source appears. A performance entry may need a correction when footage or a setlist surfaces later. That is normal archive work, not a warranty.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mariah Journal disclaims warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We also do not warrant that the site will remain available at all times or that technical issues will never occur.

General information only

Content on this site does not replace professional advice. Articles may touch on business, legal, health, finance, entertainment industry, or career topics in passing, but they exist for general reading and context. Do not treat an article, archive entry, or opinion piece as advice tailored to your personal situation.

Limits on damages

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mariah Journal, its operators, contributors, and affiliates will not be liable for damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. This includes indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or similar losses, including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, reputational harm, or reliance on site content.

Some jurisdictions limit or do not allow certain exclusions of liability. Where those rules apply, our liability will be limited only to the extent the law permits.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by applicable local law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would point to another jurisdiction. Any dispute connected to these terms, the site, or your use of Mariah Journal will be handled by the relevant courts that have authority over the matter.

Before either side turns a disagreement into a formal dispute, a clear written message often solves the problem faster. If a takedown concern, correction request, permission question, or access issue comes up, contact us with the page URL, the issue, and the outcome you are requesting.

Severability

If a court or other proper authority finds part of these terms invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the rest of the terms will remain in effect. The invalid part will be limited or removed only as much as needed, while the remaining sections continue to apply.

No waiver by delay

If we do not enforce a term immediately, we do not give up the right to enforce it later. For example, if an improper repost stays online for a short time before we notice it, that delay does not make the repost acceptable or grant permission.

Modifications to Terms and Contact Information

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Site operations change, publishing practices mature, and legal requirements can shift. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of Mariah Journal after updated terms appear means you accept the revised terms. If a change matters to how you use the site, review the page before continuing that use.

Questions about these terms

If you have questions about these terms, need permission to reuse material, want to report misuse, or believe something on the site needs attention, reach us through the Contact Us page. Include enough detail for someone to understand the request without guessing: the page title, the URL, the date if relevant, and a short explanation.

Picture the practical version: a reader spots an old archive entry on a laptop at the kitchen table, checks the date at the top of this page, copies the article URL, and sends one clear note through the contact form before closing the tab.
